  1. Graphics.. "don't look that good"? Have you SEEN the movies yet? You have broadband, yes? ICQ me, comrade. 1293359. I'll set you up, yo.
  2. Today's the big day. I'm going to barely hold off untill 10:30 AM, then I'll begin constantly calling the local EB repeatedly untill their answer is something other than "Not in yet, try back later". Acceptable answers would be "yes, it's in, come on down", "should be here within the next hour", and "shut the hell up and stop calling me every 5 minutes". So, who else is getting theirs today? Confused parties: Look here. And here. People with girlfriends need not apply
  3. I've been playing co-op of this with a friend constantly since I got it. A word of warning: Clear your schedule if you begin a co-op game. I'm talking the "holy crap, it's 4 AM already?" kind of clear your schedule. My chief complaints are that the storyline and voice acting are slightly loopy in places, and that multiplayer seems to be a little unstable and unwieldy in places. It's definately worth a look though, and should tide everyone nicely untill IG3 hits stores and astounds everyone with it's raw beauty. And then Homeworld 2 after that... 4. Full singleplayer campaign co-op support in multiplayer. 'Nuff said.

  6. I can't really see any possible way that a person could end up not liking this game...
  7. quote:Points to IG3*Nods* I have taught you well, my childe. Anyways, with all the hub-dub surrounding the game's control scheme, it's been difficult to get a conclusive, finalized answer out of anyone on what exactly's going down.. I've finally managed to learn exactly HOW the game's going to play though. As was expected, you're stuck with the Neural Network AI autopilot system thingie-majigger to fly your fighter around for you. As an alternative, you can also switch to manual and use the... er... mouse to fly your ship. But it's not even a standard, direct hands-on control scheme, you "lead" your helm around with a little pointer, and the ship will change it's vector and try to keep this pointer in the center of your HUD. No direct joystick interface is planned. Lovely. I know I'm essentially restating what's probably been said numerous times already, but I figured someone might appreciate some final word on the matter.

  10. "The Polito form is dead, insect. Are you afraid? What is it you fear.... the end of your trivial existence?"
  11. The interesting backstory and 3d cockpit function have me hooked, for now. It'll at least hold me untill Steel Battalion arrives.

  13. GF2 should run it fine, I can't think of a single reason why it wouldn't. There's the refresh rate issue, but that's resolved in the BF1942 patch info.
  14. If there's one upside this game has, it's the sheer amount of changes you can make to your own character and ship. More games need that, seriously.
  15. Not to get drawn into this argument yet again (seems to come up every other month), but if I CAN'T save anywhere, where's the fun? Out the window with the game itself I tells ya, when I have to do the same area 50 times over again. On consoles it's fine, but I really expect something a bit more sophisticated from a PC. What's the drawback? Really? I'm seen far more complicated games have a full-fledged save system, so I don't know why the developers slapped The Thing with the system it has. I've heard the "more tense" argument, but, again, what's the point if I'm forced to run through an area over and over again, and just end up getting sick of the game? Anyways.. it's a decent title, but I didn't find the beta particularly spectacular. It had good enough gameplay elements to keep me interested though, and I've seen worse storylines. Still waiting for the final to arrive... [ 09-07-2002, 04:09 AM: Message edited by: Parias ]
  16. Needs more Quicksave function.
  17. quote:Originally posted by Unforgiven_Killer: I wouldnt dl the patch..i havnt heard anything goods about itLike.. what, are you saying the patch does bad things to the game or somehing? I'd love to see these reports, because I and everyone else I've talked to have only good things to say about it.. our only complaint is that it didn't do more. 18. How, exactly? You target the Klingon ship, hit Ctrl+I, and wait. Alternately, you hit Alt+T. If there's more to it than that, I'm missing it
  19. I'm not really sure HOW it would be better, but anyways, it's possible with certain joysticks and software to actually get that kind of support under Bridge Commander.. albeit, emulated. If you dig through the official forums (assuming they're still up), you should be able to find something on it. Like I said though, I'm not sure what the point would be.. the game's just way too slow-paced to encourage that kind of thing
  20. quote:Originally posted by fendi: No joystick support? Thats going to be dissapointing then. It'll be sorta like Bridge Commander. Space sim needs joysticks. It just ain't right.Bridge Commander's special case. In Bridge mode, it's only point and click, and in tactical mode, the ships are rather slow and all of the weapons auto-aiming (except the torpedoes and disruptors, which are mostly auto-aiming). Bridge Commander != an average fighter-based space sim. [ 09-04-2002, 11:46 PM: Message edited by: Parias ]
