  1. Hah, caught that link off of the SomethingAwful forums a long time ago.. comedy gold.
  2. I was in the beta quite awhile ago. The game got boring, fast. I just got tired of the EXTREMELY DAMN LONG travel times to make a few hundred credits.
  3. True point. But I myself keep going through the game over and over again, just 'cause it's so addictive... I'd imagine most other people don't though Anyways, the dev team IS working on a form of multiplayer patch for the game, so that's another thing to look out for.
  4. quote:I'm a total sucker for an RTS game. In that fact, you really should consider looking into Hostile Waters then... if you'e a fan of a strategy/action combo anyways
  5. I've beaten Freespace 2 multiple times using nothing but a keyboard and a mouse. This was during the time that my Force Feedback stick was broken and I would've rather eaten a radioactive garden gnome whole than try to play using my old, rudder-less 5 year old "Flightstick". Just crank up the mouse sensitivity and you'll be fine.
  6. The game's got some good potential. I liked the demo.
  7. Yup, I noticed that too. In fact, I've noticed this with almost every UBB forum using this particular setup...
  8. Hostile Waters. Tom Baker. Kick-ass singleplayer gameplay. Rusty carriers. WORD.
  9. I'm glad to say that I've been on cable for at least a couple of years now and haven't had any difficulties... sorry about your problems Blades.
  10. Okay, according to the "Rules of Parias", Page 4, section 23, paragraph 221 (yes, the garden gnomes go trigger-happy on their paragraphs), the official way to pronounce "Parias" is: "Puh-rye-as". So there
  11. Well, good, at least that's two people out there who know how to pronounce it right
  12. Despite the obvious evidence available (like the close resemblence of the word "Paris" to my nickname, which most pronounce as "Paris" anyways), I can assure you all that I had nothing to do with it! NOTHING I TELL YOU! .......I just, um, thought I'd stop by France for a bit to see how things were going down there. Yup, that's right. Sheer co-incidence that this happened at the same time... Nice find Chavik!
  13. Just saw FF today... I liked it, two thumbs up.

    LEXX?

It's certainly a unique show, I'll give it that much.
  15. It's very addictive, give it a shot.
  16. I've been using 1.04 for a damn long time now, works great. I like them better than the latest released ones, since they kinda, y'know, don't screw up the shadows and terrain in half the games I have
  17. quote:Originally posted by Epsilon 5: Huh... parias, why does the link you provided push me to a "MS WinNT 4.0 Option pack" website??? I noticed that shortly after I linked to the site. I've confirmed in my history files that that link INDEED goes to the official IWar2 website. So either Bill Gates has expanded in his plans to assimilate this portion of Alpha Centauri, or they're moving to some kind of new server and that's just a temporary setup. Either way, I can assure you that it worked before.... just, um, pretend there's an IWar2 page there or something quote:Other's will throw in better graphics but the flight physics and the details (like station rotation or selective damage to the ship and subsystem targeting) isn't there. Half the time you spent in the original Independence War was in your engineering screen prioritizing repairs to your damaged systems (there were lots). And quite a few objectives revolved around taking out a specific system on a ship... Freespace 1/2 also have subsystems and specific damage that could be incurred on you. As did X-Wing Alliance... in fact, apart from X: BTF and X-Tension (which both also had internal damage you could sustain.. albeit, rarely), I can't think of one recent space shooter that didn't have damagable subsystems in it [ 07-01-2001: Message edited by: Parias ]
  18. Brilliant Tac Thanks for the link Mike, I'll add it to my excessive number of bookmarks in my "humor" folder...
  19. Murphy's Law.. an upgrade that should "only take 10 minutes" never will. EVER. Well, except in those rare situations with the few lucky people out there, but they always have something else that goes wrong shortly afterwards.
  20. You want a game like Terminus (at least, it's pirate career) but something roughly three hundred times better in just about every single area? Not counting BCM, of course.... Well, Clicky. At least IWar2 and BCM don't have space fruit cannons.

quote:Game worked fine for me, but it's rather memory intensive. Yeah, I mean, damn, this game's sure gonna give my 384MB of PC133 SDRAM a run for it's money. Tac: I wouldn't think so. I'll download it myself and see what happens.

Oh man, that was a bloody classic. I only played the demo... which I stopped playing quickly because the limited "trial period" prevented me from playing after a short while. I never could figure out what kind of crack the people who released that demo were on... or any other time-limited demo, for that matter. I remember complaining a long time ago about some kind of aircraft game, which was a 60MB download (I was on a 28.8 at the time) which only let you play for 60 seconds. Yeesh! I definately liked the game though.... Tac: Here's a quote from the page quote:Note: The company announced on its website that since they are no longer printing CDs, you can now freely give the game away to friends, etc. So, kudos to Windward for recognizing that the best way to deal with out-of-print games with little commercial value left is to make them available for free to the public. Play the game, and visit their site for news on the sequel. [ 06-23-2001: Message edited by: Parias ]
  23. quote:Out of interest, how many other new/recent games are purely Directx8 compatible? Mechwarrior 4's a start. Anyways, presuming you still have that GeForce 2 still around, I'd advise popping it back in and trying to solve whatever problems you had with it. Like the SC said, you're screwed with that ATI card and this game unfortunately. Get something a wee bit more compliant with the latest graphical standards
