  1. Eew, your cents definately won't be accepted at a vending machine. I sell popcorn at a theatre (the largest in the nation), but I don't think that counts.
  2. Congratulations. You guys have earned it.
  3. I don't remember how I first heard of BC, but it predates 2.0. I think I still have the 1.0 manual around here somewhere.
  4. You'll have to wait till after finals. They'll be quite demanding of my time.
  5. Here's my list Dirty Rotten Cheater- One of the most original game shows I've seen in a long time. 24- Well written, with lots of action. Action is good. Junkyard Wars- Never gets old, really. Mail Call- A good look at military technology, past and present. Star Trek TNG- I was too young to understand much of the original run.
  6. Where, exactly, do you sign up for this beta?
  7. That's not far off the mark...
  8. I'm in. My address hasn't changed.
  9. The Empire of Glendakoth If enough of us climb aboard, we can try creating a new region.
  10. Yes, it is a sad state of affairs. On a good note, my profile has been completed. Name: Trenton 'Urza' Padfield Status: Active Race: Terran Rank: Commander Position: In command of GCV Dark Storm DOB: October 5, 2076 Description: 6 feet tall, long dark brown hair Timeline: 2095- Attended Galcom Academy 2099- Graduated in top 15%; assigned as pilot on GCV Weatherlight 8-14-02- Overagression on missions, specifically on this date, led to several crippled FCs; incident blamed on Padfield, who was subsequently ordered to repair the FCs 8-16-02- Completed repair work much faster then anticipated; reassigned to system engineer 11-21-03- Exemplary service record led to promotion to Lieutenant, and assigned to chief engineer 6-12-06- Eori incident- reactor of GCV Weatherlight fails (the cause has not been determined, though sabatoge is suspected), crippling craft. Subsequent attack by an insurgent crusier barely repelled by FC forces; most of crew killed during attack. Reactor power partially restored by Padfield and his four remaining engineers. GCV Weatherlight slowly returns to Aleri station, and is scrapped. 6-14-06- Recieves commendation, promoted to Lt. Commander and (at his request) assigned as chief engineer on newly comissioned GCV Dark Storm 1-30-08- Offered command position, but declined, preferring to work with Firestorm class vessels. 9-01-10- Commander Nicholson retires; Padfield promoted to Commander and placed in command of GCV Dark Storm. 3015- During ISS restructuring, Padfield is assigned to newly created Pegasus Wing under Cmdr. von Schaffen Notes: Though some question Cmdr. Padfield's assignment, his frequent deliberations with his hand-picked CE and his proven leadership skills are a testament to the success of his command. Although Cmdr. Padfield hasn't piloted an FC in some time, his peers, and those under his command continue to use his callsign in all but the most formal affairs.
  11. Here's a link you might find useful. Now, once Newbie Wagon Nova shows up, we'll be all set!
  12. Last I heard, the French guy had it.
  13. In RL, I play a Human Lawful Neutral Rouge He more of the adventuring type, and is relied upon to pick locks, find and disarm traps, think of ways around traps that can't be disarmed, and so on. He only steals from people something already, then gives it back to its rightful owner (because it's the lawful thing to do). I also try to kill anyone who would try to undermine a ruler's authority.
  14. Here. I'll start us off: Lawful Neutral Gnome Ranger Bard Follower Of Silvanus Alignment: Lawful Neutral characters believe in the triumph of law and order above all else. It does not matter whether the leader is for good or evil; the leader will be followed, because the order they provide is the most important thing. Race: Gnomes are also short, like dwarves, but much skinnier. They have no beards, and are very inclined towards technology, although they have been known to dabble in magic, too. They tend to be fun-loving and fond of jokes and humor. Some gnomes live underground, and some live in cities and villages. They are very tolerant of other races, and are generally well-liked, though occasionally considered frivolous. Primary Class: Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy. Secondary Class: Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit. Deity: Silvanus is the True Neutral god of nature. He is also known as the Patron of Druids. His followers believe in the perfect balance of nature, and believe that nature's bounty is preferable to any other 'civilizing' method. They wear leather or metallic scale mail, constructed of leaf-shaped scales. Silvanus's symbol is an oak leaf.
  15. I like the color contrast, as well as the 'widescreen' photo.
  16. I think an equipment failure seems more likely than any terrorist action. I agree that NASA should be better funded, but at this moment in time, I believe there are matters (Iraq, stimulating the economy) that are more deserving of our immediate attention.
  17. quote: 1. The money that you are investing in the stocks of this company that you are hoping to get dividends, is money that you've already paid taxes on. Exactly. Also, the money used by the company to pay dividends to its stockholders has already been taxed as well. The idea behind these tax cuts is that the population, when 'given' extra money, will turn around an spend a certain percentage of it (about 70 to 80%), saving the rest (say, in my case, a GeForce4). This money goes to companies (for this example, NVidia), increasing their revenue. After taxes, it is used by the company as investment (more jobs!), paid to shareholders as dividends (shouldn't be taxed again, IMO), or saved. The employees and shareholders would then spend this extra money (seeing movies, for example), or save it. The companies (theatres and film studios) would, after more taxes, spend their money (giving me a raise, perhaps? ). Each subsequent iteration would be less than the one preceding it, because of saving and taxes taking it out of circulation. Eventually, this would help recover the economy. As for the government, tax revenues could, in theory, actually increase despite lower taxes (think a smaller slice of a much bigger pie). The budget defecit isn't a terrible thing, as long as taxes are raised during a boom, creating a surplus to make up for the defecit. Otherwise, the economy will 'overheat', the economy will return to normal anyway, but with higher inflation, and an unpaid national debt.
  18. UPDATE: Profile is 65% complete. Expect it posted in a week, at most.
  19. Based on your answers, you are most like Merry You were also very much like Bill Ferny Barliman Butterbur
  20. Man, that was without a doubt, one of the greatest films I've ever seen! Even at 3+ hours long, I enjoyed every minute of it, and there are few who wouldn't. An excellent adaptation of an already great story. Only recently has the technology been there to give Tolkien's series the presentation it deserves. Run, in fact speed, run red lights, and cut people off on your way to the theatre to see this. Cancel the wedding, escape from the hospital, forget your appointent with Bill Gates to discuss your placement in his will, see this film! 10/10
  21. The profile has been WIP for a few weeks. I'll finish it up by next weekend.
  22. *deactivates cloak* Greetings! *reactivates cloak* *ship fizzles back into view* Oh, you stinking... *Urza picks up a wrench and storms out the bridge*
  23. Whatever necromacy spellbook you have, can I borrow it?
  24. Agreed. There's only so much you can get from a television screen. Monitors are a significant investment, but if you get a decent one straight away, you may not need a new one for a long time. Same goes for other peripherals. As for upgrading, just swap out the 'weakest link' in your hardware whenever you need a performance boost. Every major upgrade can run you a few hundred dollars, less if you want to ride a little behind the curve. I won't even get into the patching/modding/downloading/internet realm. The only thing a console can do better than a PC is same-room MP. (you only need one system, one TV, one copy of the game, and a few extra controllers) But, then again, there's nothing stopping you from throwing a LAN party!
