  1. It seems that April 1st is not only April fool's now, but it's also could become the official "Resnig Bashing Day". I'm just setting up some fun sports like: -Dunk Resnig (Classic) -Drunk Resnig (Get him plastered and then make fun of him some more!!) -Resnig Racing!! (he's the one running away from man eating monster from all over the universe) -Rugby Resnig (Regnig takes the place of the rugby ball. Team that knocks him unconcious first win by default.) -Resucitate Resnig (the last sport of the day... we can't let him die or there'll be no festival next year!!) Well, that was the stupidest post I've made in a while.. [ 04-01-2002, 18:42: Message edited by: Fractux ]
  2. Well all ihave to say after browsing through that site is What the "heck" is up with this site. Especially that TACO site... those flash movies seem rather "disturbed". The discussions remind me of this site i visited a while ago that had AI characters engaging in continual conversations with eachother. Cheers!
  3. I hardly ever use automatic on the rifles. Generally on sigle shot with the rifles [auto when I'm assaulting], auto with the SMG's [or 3 burst]. And the shotguns are always fun to use. I'm a big fan because of the range of weapons and equipment provided. The smoke grens are great to provide cover, and the IR gogles give you a great advantage if you buy them. The ability for team coordination is great, because the commander can set waypoints for the team, thereby helping everyone, even on a public server, work together. Cheers!
  4. You can join servers, it just takes a while since so many ppl are playing this game to get on a good one. And the servers with passwords on them are not indicated in any special way, so there will be some you can't get on. Also, there is no way to play by yourself unless you have 2 comps. 1 that can run "globalopsserver" wich is in the game directory, and one for you to run the client. Problem is, that since this is still beta, you need a high end box to run a the server. Anywho, if you do manage to get in, you'll see how fun this game is, IMO. Cheers! [note, this is NOT an endorsement. I wish they were paying me though ]
  5. You guys should check out this game http://www.globalopsgame.com/.. The Open Beta Multiplayer version is available on Filplanet. It's pretty intense, and the different classes and weapon ranges make for some extreme gameplay. Anywho, definitely worth the download. On a side note, after perusing through their forums, I come to fully respect the SC's tight grip here. The Global ops forum is utter chaos!! Now.. off to send my marines to their deaths... Umm.. Blame Resnig... Cheers! [ 03-22-2002, 19:01: Message edited by: Fractux ]
  6. quote:Originally posted by Enigma: i hope this is the right spot for this. im playin my current game, and occationally when i press alt+p for the Perscan, the game crashes to the desktop. i can restart BCM and restore the game with no problems. it happened 2-3 times when i had prisoners, and 1-2 times when i had intruders. Hey Enigma, before you go to PERSCAN just do a quicksave, and it won't crash on you. I've had that problem as well, and it was mentioned before in either an earlier post or another forum. Anywho, just so the quick save and you won't CTD. Cheers!
  7. quote:Originally posted by Captain X: I am using patch 1.0.06. (I know, but with patch 1.0.07 I could not get my crew to follow my orders to go off station) Hey CaptainX, if they are not really tired, then they'll come back on station even if you order them too. Also, some of your officers may be ordering them to come back on duty even after you tell them to go off duty. For example, I find, especially with relation to medical personel, that I'll order a medic with ~20% off duty, and then my medical officer will say "assining medics to search duty" or whatever he says. So, basically, leave them on until they either get hurt, or get really tired and go to bed themselves. Besides, you want them to stay on as long as they can to get their little pea brains to gain some AI %.
  8. How'd you make so much money to buy all the OTS??? That's ~2mil a pop for the cheapest!!
  9. Hmm I was making a routine trip to Lyrius, when some insurgents try to make off with my breakfast... anywho.. all five of them end up killing one of my marines (may good 'ole Freddy rest in peace) and, needless to say, my marines exact vengence by splattering 3 of them all over the walls [Doesn't this firestorm come with Janitors??]. Anywho, two of them get thrown into the detention hold, all bloodied up. And One of my Medics, who probably felt sorry for the bums, was in the process of treating one of them when he suddle get's beat up [his LF went down to 80%, and I get a "Prisoner escaped" alert!! Well, needless to say, FC8 now has a little picture of an intruder painted on it Cheers!
  10. Hey Sunanta, so a search on the physics. You'll find the many debates that have gone on already. Have fun reading, 'cause that's as far as it has ever gotten around Cheers! [ 03-13-2002, 00:22: Message edited by: Fractux ]
  11. SC, approximately how long does it take for the rates being paid by the station to change? And if the station is deprived for a long period of time do their paying rates continue to rise? Cheers!
  12. quote:I'm not tryin to make a wish list...or criticize this magnificent game...I'm just an old school keyboard and mouse man [/QB]I sense some suckid-upidness going on there Seriously though, I understand what you mean IRT to aiming with the mouse, like when you decouple the main guns you still use the joystick (I have no clue how you can use the keyboard to aim like this effectively) to move it around. But, if you look on the box Shadow at the "Recomended System Requirements" you'll see that a joystick is listed. It ain't listed in minimum requirements, but then again, I suppose the game still is playable without a joystick. (Don't get me wrong Shadow, I think it'd be great to use the mouse to fire main guns when decoupled without having to have my ship change directions. But I'm sure there are bigger issues they are dealing with, like XP1 [or my general ability to make a rucus in the tech support forums.. hehe ] ). But hey, you never know since I can't speak for those who get the real work done around here (Hey, I never said I didn't have to suck up either ) Cheers! 13. quote:Originally posted by Gallion: The Inflation Rate of a Station is one key. Galcom Hq's Inflation Rate is 0% where as Genesis has an Inflation Rate of 10%. Wraith's is 30%. Do the math TTFNHeh, I don't think you read my question... but thanks for grade school lesson again Cheers!
  14. Now, I was just wondering if the prices of trade goods in game vary with time? From what I've been able to tell they are static. Which Get's me to wondering as to how I can make a profit by ever selling anything to Galcom HQ? I have not played any really long games yet, but when Galcom runs out or radium, I'm not the one who goes to stock it up because the price they are willing to pay does not increase [so I can't go buy radium somehwere else, even with no inflation, and sell to GHQ and make any money] Also because after I drained all the radium from GHQ it seemed that no one was coming to sell them anymore, despite the fact that transports were going to and fro. I guess this would also affect those of us who may want to take a trader's role in MP. SO basically, my question is do the prices change with demand/quantity at a station? If not in SP will they in MP? Or, will this only be included in XP1's "All new trading logic and database (complete overhaul of the trading and inventory system) "? Cheers!
  15. Too bad we can't initiate containment fields to capture the intruders in specific areas, and then leech the air ouch and watch them gasp until they surrender and agree to give us 4 million credits. Hey, it beats waiting 4 hours for the drones to fill up. Cheers!
  16. Well, I'll throw in my two cents here. This is a short e-mail I sent in to the local CJAD station after listening to a debate as to whether the death penalty should be reinstated if a police officer is killed. quote: Greetings, I was listening to the debate about reinstating capital punishment for killing police officers today on your show. While I sometimes even find my own opinion wavering, I wanted to bring up an important issue that sometimes gets lost when we speak about having society kill criminals for their actions. When we speak about society killing individuals do not forget that there must then be people employed to put criminals to death, most likely to be prison guards who are assigned this task to prepare the machines that we get to do the actually dirty work, or to strap the man in to them. These people, willingly or unwillingly, must now represent society killing this criminal for his/her injustices. They now have an immense burden over their heads, as killing another human being, no matter how wretched you may think they are, is not a easy thing to do, especially if you are the person employed to do it for "the bettering of society". The psychological burden that they have to deal would be immense. The reason I must object to the death penalty is because I know that I myself would not be willing to "push the button" to kill a member of this society who has committed injustices. I believe that if you want the death penalty reinstated you must ask yourself if YOU could push the button, because if you tell "society" to do it and can not do it yourself, then that, in itself, is an injustice. We, in north America live behind a wall of illusions, and I can only hope that having "society" reinstate the death penalty is not another illusion we put in place to detach ourselves from the reality of a world where people are willing to kill millions of others in order to pay ten cents less for gas. While it may sometimes be hard to have faith in society, I do put my hope into individual people. Thanks for your time. I saw a really good documentary about the prison guards who were employed to do this work, but the name escapes me. What I'm trying to get at is that once you instate capital punishment it must be instated with certain general rules as a law. So, you can no longer point out a single case and say, "that crime was horrible and he should be killed". I admit that even I think this more than I'd admit. But, as I was saying, when it becomes a policy in the real world, the grim reality of what capital punishment means sets in. We can put the inmate in a clean white room, stick some needles in his arm and let the family watch him die and maybe feel some closure. In the Army they tell us to shoot for his gut where the bullet will grind up his insides making sure he'll die, if not right away, at least slowly. Why spend tens of thousands of dollars for the procedure itself when you can get a gun and a bullet and cap him in the head? Why the push for a "humane" death? [some states still used firing squads on my last check. But I don't think they'd let the family watch, do they?? Cause I don't know.] But for the most part it's the illusion. His death is not as real when you inject something, or put a cover over his head when they use the chair. And then there's the guy whos job it is to take the corpse away. And after this one guy is dead, there are the preparations for the next one, and the next guy, and so on. Sure, maybe they all are murderers and have commited horrible crimes. But when the the person who's job it is day after day to kill themgoes home and sees his wife and kids can he tell them he had a good day at work? That he is happy doing his job? That his life means somthing? Please, no matter how much he may dispise the person he killed (or the actions he commited), he will have to deal with that decision (forced or not) that he had to make to start the kiling process. And he will do it again and again. Chances are it mayy even stop hitting him, maybe even stop mattering. Another hanous crime, another execution. It's like a war that has no end, and never will. I think about this a lot, being in the reserves. I don't ever want to have to go to war, and I certainly don't want to have to kill anybody, or watch my buddies die for some politician to have his ratings go up, or so that the country can look like its doing the "right" thing. I've read a lot of soldiers' accounts and letters discussing their feelings and what they go through. Hell, I look into my grandfathers' eyes when the issue comes up and the emotions that come through hit me hard. The criminal sitting there on the table is not our enemy. The criminal who killed one, two, or forty people will be the one who has to deal with what he's done (i'm not saying we don't have the obligation to punish criminals). My going up to him and taking him down won't do ***t all to remedy the situation, however. And it sure as heck would not make me feel better than now I'm the one with blood on my hands if I kill him when he's not even putting up a fight. Should every member of society feel better with his blood on their hands? I would not want to have to explain this to my two year old kid if i had one. If I capture an enemy soldier, I can't kill him because he may have shot my buddy, or wiped out my platoon. I'm not allowed to by law. Now when society captures a criminal, we want to take him and execute him? Sure there's a difference between a soldier and a criminal. Our country tell us when to kill, and the criminal kills on his own initiative. But it is the act of killing that he is being pinushed for. And it is the act of killing that I am taught, as a soldier, may be my duty one day. There is a paradox here that adds to my reluctance to accept the death penalty. Maybe this argument was all over the place. No more time to write here as I'm off writing a paper on the origins of the first world war. So feel free to pick it apart, as I like these debates. They force me to deal with all the points people bring up that I may not have concidered. Cheers! [ 03-09-2002, 22:46: Message edited by: Fractux ]
  17. SC, I just tried with the Firestorm, and I see what he means by not being able to give ther OC craft orders. I even loaded up OC8 on a shuttle craft and deployed it to see if I would then have the option of picking it up, but like jerry said I didn't see it in the menu. I set my waypoints [PIC]then let my shuttle do its work and deploy OC8. Now, I can issue OC8 orders [PIC] But I am unable to tell the SC to pick it up [PIC] as I can only give it through OC4 like jerry said. I'm a bit confused too as to how I'm supposed to pick it up. Cheers! [ 03-09-2002, 11:46: Message edited by: Fractux ]
  18. Greets goaliejerry! I can answer some of your questions. 1]To replace an FC asset dock at a base and go to tradcom. Scroll the list and you'll see FCASSET. (i'm just saving up for one of mine... low AI pilot didn't know when to quit:) ) 2]Hmm, not sure, I never deployed that many OC assets before. Someone else will have to answer this one. 3]If i remember correctly, this feature will be implemented in XP1. CAn't double check cause the XP1 info page is down. 4]Never tried it... 5]When I'm going to a region with a hostile base, especially now with the 1.0.06 revision, I dock the fighters. If I forget, i just give them a halt order as soon as they appear in system. I'd be nice to tell them to completely avoid HJ to a base when they go in system, but for now just make sure to tell them not to jump to the base before they do so, or you're ~2million+ in the hole. Cheers!
  19. quote:...and those gits who download patches out-of-order or apply them improperly, would still be b*itchingThis "git" won't be b*itching for a while, but you better watch it, I find ingeneous ways to screw things up Thanks to everyone for their help. Cheers!
  20. Xierxior, your solution worked for me as well. All of the models are rendering perfectly now. Thanks for the help!
  21. I can't use the detonator destryer program as I am running Win2K and it is for use only on Win95,98,98SE, or ME. Anywho, I'm not going to waste my time, or yours, anymore Cheers!
  22. I was just trying something out and I cam across something strange. I wanted to check the models from 1.0.06 so I made a new directory and moved only "bcm.exe" into it so that I could install the 1.0.06 patch into that directory. THen I installed BCstudio into this directory to view the models. When I looked at them [while they had no textures] the models were rendered fine. Then I used the BCstudio I had installed into this directory to look at the models in the real BCM directory that contained all the games files and they too were rendered fine, though they had no textures either. But, when using the BCstudio I had installed in the actual BCM folder the models in both the game directory, and the alternate directory were rendered wrong. I don't know if this is a dead end or if I'm running in circles here, but why would this be happening and does it give you any insight as to what the problem could be? Or it this just something that occurs because of the way the BCstudio program works? Sincerely, Trying to figure out what the problem is
