  1. Has the "full control for naval assets" actually been implemented and tested? To be honest, I was a little disappointed that UC did not have this, and I would like a little reassurance before I buy yet another title. Edit: old sig removed from profile.
  2. quote:Originally posted by Sir John Falstaff: The only fix I found for it was to send the EO to the medibay. the EO is a sabotour for the insurgents, I know it! Because I went for hours with no trouble until I let him out of the medibay and... As soon as he got on station "bridge is damaged." "Bridge is under repair." No, no, no.....He's obviously got a still onboard somewhere...watch him in perscan when he goes offduty.....and either his still keeps exploding, or he's spilling his home-made gin all over his console....
  3. I use the Windows key to get out of games that have frozen.....And to train my crew....Simulated Tactical Meltdown.....Helps them to know what to do when Resnig spills his beer.....
  4. I think the dumbest thing I ever did was to go EVA while my ship was still cloaked.......
  5. You're checking out the new shots of BCG and find yourself pressing F9 to change the veiw You have the impulse to hit backspace whenever you get out of your car You read all the hype about discovered planetary systems and think to yourself "Noobs!" You think the reason they can't find life on Mars is because they aren't setting waypoints before entering the atmosphere The building you work at loses power and and the first thing that goes through your mind is "RESNIG!!!!!!" You use Playmod to add your coworkers as guests and actually feel vindicated watching the jerks chase mining drones.

  7. BCM on Linux This ought to be interesting. I am just about to attempt to configure a Linux machine to run BCM. I'm looking around in one of my local haunts, (i.e. software store), and noticed Mandrake 8.1 Gaming System. Well, I've got an extra system just lying around (PI 233 Mhz), I'm just going to have to try to merge my two biggest challenges in life: Linux and BCM (OK so it's not real life, but close enough). And just for grins and giggles, I got the Standard edition instead of the Gaming one. hehehe I love tortureing myself. Now, the question is, can I do it? Has anyone else done it? Do I even know what a windows emulator does? (no) Will BCM even run on a PI system? (oops...) OK, so I'll have to upgrade or use one of my other systems, but I would really like to know if anyone else has ever tried useing Linux for playing games (come on, I know some of you have had to) and any ideas you might have on accomplishing this. Right now, I am going to try WINE and/or the emulator from Transgaming, but first I've got to figure out how to unpack a Tarball.... WetWare
  8. quote:Originally posted by Simparadox: Except that BCM doesn't use a real-world Newtonian physics model!. Realistically, there should be no top speed (up until just under lightspeed) for ANY ship in the game, but there is. . Actually, your top speed is determined by the amount of thrust you have. Something about the faster you go, the more thrust it takes to go faster. I think this is where they get the speed of light/infinite mass speculation, because from an acceleration viewpoint, you are trying to increase speed on an ever increasing mass. So I think your shuttles top speed would be affected? No, wait, it would just take longer...Oh, man, now I have a headache... I'll tweek the ol thrusters on my jetpack and try it....Where did I put that spare tractor beam? Wetware P.S. I'm not ingnoring you SC, I just read the VCF regarding your question. 9. I don't think anyones posted this one, and I didn't see it in the VCF, but it should be reproducable: When playing in ROAM mode, with the Firestorm/Terr/Ear, I (AE)have been able to launch in a fighter (#5), go places, do things, get fairly heavy damage to the fighter, and repair it while still in space. I was in tacops, trying to get one of my shuttles to launch (which won't, bummer but oh well), I selected logistix from the tacops menu, clicked on crafts, saw the damage display, and just to see what would happen, I clicked on repairs, and ALL systems went up to 100%. Cool! exited out to cockpit mode, and ship flies like new, ship status in right-hand (CVD?) shows all systems good to go, but my armor and hull strentgh still shows damage. Mind you, I'm not complaining, but thought you might want to know. Oh yeah, using RC9. Hope this helps, WetWare [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: WetWare ]
  10. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: 1. A cloaked ship for one 2. Not sure how you did it (you must have used the shuttle cockpit menu), but no, you can't retrieve them. And no, there are no features going into BCM. Maybe in XP1 the ability to deploy and retrieve SFMs will be supported. Anyway, I'm curious to know how you got them out there in the first place. I need to plug that hole. 3. Yes. At least until someone comes along and steals or destroys them. 4. Yes. Buy a lot of Iridium and stay cloaked 1. hehe your not gonna tell me the parameters are you? that's cool. I just gotta get away from the ol CC sometimes, I'll just have to experiment. 2. Just tried it with 1002 RC2 There were some Marines chasing a Base around Lyrius (poor guys just couldn't catch up) so I created a waypoint for a SC to deploy, loaded a bunch of Space marines, and launched it. I had an Elite flying it, and he got out too, but he didn't die. Actually worked fairly well, but some of the commands such as GOTO and Halt didn't work, and Evac would not stay selected. I hope you add this feature to a future patch or XP. As open-ended as this games is, (and fun)I always feel disappointed when I run up against a games' boundaries. 4. Can you cleanup Cloaking radiation while cloaked? Thanks, SC WetWare
  11. You know youve been playing too much BCM when: You fill out the military experience area on a job applications as Cptn Underpants of the Ter/Mil Super Happy Sunshine You're sitting in traffic and start cussing the FE's for not charging your weapons. You try to jetpack down to the parking lot from your 20th floor office. You find yourself telling your computer "These are not the droids you're looking for" when Galcom HQ catches you with contraband. You start eyeballing your coworkers wondering if you ought to send them to the brig. You start looking for a cargo pod to hide in when your boss catches you playing BCM at work. (Doesn't he realize how much more lucrative mining radine is?) You park your car and wonder where Alt-E is. Your CC takes a direct hit on the nose, and you look behind your monitor to assess the damage. WetWare [ 12-03-2001: Message edited by: WetWare ]
  12. OK, I'm not a newbie, but these questions seem to fit here: 1. I remember reading that leaving your CC for long periods of time can and is harmfull for the CC. (It's true, I've tried it) Would you be willing to share exactly under what circumstances your CC will start taking damage when no other ships or intruders are a factor? 2. I was able to deploy Space marines using a shuttle, (I read above you're not supposed to) in space, Is there any way to retrive them? I could not for the life of me do it. Maybe the SC could make a way? Perhaps the transporter could be altered to retrieve space-borne objects? Could you imagine the look on an enemy marines' face when he just materializes in your transporter room facing about 8-9 guys with guns? Also I would like to be able to target a ship and give them a few intruders to deal with. 3. I've had some cargo pods sitting on Moon2 in Lyrius for about 2 hours now, will they remain there indefinatly? and finally ... 4. Is there any way to hide your craft in space so that it doesn't get intruders when a big ship pops in? I've tried sitting in out of the way places well out of radar range, with my radar turned off. The reason I ask, is with all the searching my marines have to do, they don't get a lot of time to sleep, and they get cranky, and one even took a potshot at me the other day... Thanks, WetWare
