  1. RE: Roberto and Perry's problem. I experience the same thing. I also wanted to ask a question: How are areas processed? If you open up a sene and you are then tracking all the TTD in that area, and then you leave it, do they continue to be tracked, and if so, is there a limit to the ammount that can be tracked?
  2. I suppose we could just use this thread to assign each other missions. If someone asks, someone else can just make up a mission like "chart the planet of Alteris" and the person on the mission could post a link to screenshots of Alteris." Might be fun. Its not that you can't just think one up on your own, its just fun and a bit more immersive ot have them assigned. Just an idea.
  3. If your interested, I could package up a saved game with one stuck in my ship, and you could check it out. It's pretty weird. I decided to do a hull surch in fp, and when I go near the mine everything freaked out... I can't describe it any better than that. Anyway, thanks again for the time. Cheers
  4. Sorry. That's what I had meant by "get it to work." [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: AshSpear ]
  5. That is exaclty how I discoved the problem. I had just been bragging that even a station couldn't beat down my linear/IV shields, when I decided to experiment with mines... I dropped three in quick succession and blew much ship to hell. It's been parked on Krystar acting as a training ground for me CE for hours now. It's good to know that I'm not the only twit though. I wish I could get it to work though, so I could be more effective at takling cloaked bad guys.
  6. Beam yourself and Resing down to a planet and learn him a thing or two the hard way. Repair your ship. Land your ship somewhere safe, and do some trading and or scouting runs in a shuttle. Launch yourself in a fighter, and get ride off all the marines who are bogging down your perpformance. Beam some marines down to a a city, and see which one picks up a "sociable" infection first and give him a promotion to head blockhead. Ask the guy who came back radiated what, exactly, he was doing down there anyway. Send them to medibay for a lecture and a delousing. [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: AshSpear ]
  7. Would the grab mines and the leech mines be deployed the same way on a given ship? I generally fly around in a megaron, and the crab mines seem to get launched out the front, however leeches continuse to behave as I mentioned reguardless of whether I hit retors, or vtol straight up. If I keep moving after launch, they usually move to the opposite end of the radar display from my vector, but if I stop, they return to spinning around in the lower/center. If I target them, the distance never changes. Anyway, I'll keep experimenting. [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: AshSpear ]
  8. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that. They seem to get stuck in the CC model and just hang around. I can ditch them if I go to hyperspace, but apart from that, I can't deploy a leech mine for the life of me. I've tried it in several ships, and the end result is that my mine launch bay gets blow to smitherines. Anyone else have more success?
  9. I wasn't complaining. Just a bit of nostalgia for the old days.... which for me, who is relativle new, weren't that long ago. I think if you want more of a challenge, just don't upgrade your shield or armor. I got holes blown in me all the time when I was sporting titanium/I and Spectrum/a
  10. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: I will look into it. And if this is a wild goose chase because you have the TTD toggled incorrectly, your ass is mine. [ 12-10-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] If it is a wilde goose chase, it isn't because of that. I checked the boards, and I only wound one reference to this sort of thing, and the person that posted never mentioned it again, so I did spend a lot of time reproducing it and trying different variables before I worked up the nerve to post. Many thanks for the time. If there is anything you think I should try before we rule out the possability of a wilde goose chase though, just let me know.
  11. I thought a thread about mine laying tactics would be interesting. Does anyone have any effective tactics for mine deployment? I also have a problem: Is there a trick to laying leech mines?Crab mines work perfeclty, but when ever I deploy a leech mine it spins around in a circle on the radar screen until I try to move off, at which point it seems to follow alone behind me. If I stop a little further off, and try to deploy a second leech mine a hole gets blown in my ship. Am I the only one with this problem? Is there anything I could be doing wrong? 12. The linear/IV shield system has got to be god's gift to spacefarers. Complete with guardian angel. I just wiped out three startations and didn't get scratched. The last one featured a cloaked stormcarrier in waiting too. I miss the BC3000 days when taking out a station involved taking the day off work and scratching away at it, then limping back to GALCOM because it was the only place you could afford all the repairs. Now those were startations.
  13. I recently acquired BCM, and I have only one problem that I cannot solve. It is related to the TTD tags in TACOPS when viewing planets. My understanding is that when you zoom in to view a scene, such as some _mbase scene, all the buildings and units should have TTD boxes around them, so that you can target them. This works fine, even when moving to many different scenes and regions of the planet, however once I have placed a waypoint, such as deploy drone, and I have the shuttle deliver the drone and return to base, there is a problem. Now if I zoom to another scene I can see the buildings, but the ttd do not appear for these. I believe that there was a reference to a similar problem earlier in the text indicating that it was normal and that one just had to change the view angle so that the terrain would be rendered. I try exiting tacops, and trying again. I've tried changing the angle, and the zoom, I have even tried exiting the game, and then restoring the saved game, but I can only view the TTD for buildings and units in the vicinity of where I deployed the drone. Even after the drone is recovered, and there are no units or waypoints in the area, the problem persists. I can reproduce the problem at will. Is there anything else I should try?
  14. In order to join a fleet, should I just sign up in fleet DB, or should I first request permission to sign up?
  15. I have three questions that probably more than qualify for this thread: 1-Does using the EMD cause any adverse sideffects other than not alowing get missle lock, and causing a bit of interfereance with your computer displays? Could one leave it on all the time? 2-In the CSD, one reading is HF... I can't figure out what it is, and I can't find it in the manual... I thought it might be health factor, but there is already the LF, so that doesn't make sense. Does anyone know what it stands for? 3-In the logistix power tree, does shutting off power to the solar reactor have any real effect? I've tried it, and the solar reactor seems to generate power reguardless. Hope my questions aren't too silly. They aren't really important, just curiositys.
