  1. *slurp* Oh, this is your soda? (Hands to street) None of it matters now, its done; Iraq is now a soverign state, Al'Quaeda is getting routed by special forces, and we're traning Iraqi troops. Lets just do what we have to and leave it at that. Debating about things past is a growing fad in politics, but really what is the use. What people should be debating about is what we will do next, as in the future. Pass me the bag of popcorn please, SC.
  2. Hmmm, yea, I've wanted to see this. I've heard some people (who feel the same about Bush as I do) that some of it is very questionable as to its truth though. Most of it has been touched before, and its more or less a wake-up call to all the people who continue to remain ignorant about some of the stuff that Bush has done. Personally, I don't consider Michael Moore a emblem of the Democratic Party. In fact some of his views on government are a little to liberal for me, and some of his ways about voicing his opinions are disgraceful to the Democratic Party (because people directly associate him to the Democrats every time.) But yea, I'm gonna probably try to see this movie tomorrow if its in our theatres.
  3. Fallout... the MMORPG.. I like the sound of it, but why don't they just get Fallout 3 out the door first and then start worrying about funding a future MMORPG project. This seals the final fate of Fallout 3... so much for optimism.
  4. Jeeze street, calm down.. This is the kind of tax that more than likely will never get out the door. Heh, the burden of the information age for lawmakers; everyone will know what they're doing within 72 hours of the creation of a bill. All it takes is one news source (Wired in this case) and the public opinion to be foul, and it will never pass. This is the kind of law that you really can't say yes to; unless you are entirely uninformed of the situation. On another note, we've got plenty of tax free stuff up here in the bogs of Georgia! If you can survive the mosquitos and deer flies you should have no problem at all! Well, you'll need a big truck too, one slightly larger than Big Foot to avoid getting shot by the rednecks, but thats no problem, I'm sure y'all are pretty resourceful. Actually, I'm afraid that Georgia might follow suit if this goes through. Why? Because we've done it before.
  5. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Don't go there plz or you will just cause people to invoke a bunch of instances where Europeans can't speak English, let alone write it. Its bad enough that people like you - who should know English - end up writing rubbish like un-intellectual. I mean, seriously. Good point. I caught the early morning stupids (again ). On another note, anyone here want to join in a game of the S├Âldner demo tonight? Might be fun.
  6. Heh, what a half-naive idjit... He seems a little contradictory; one moment he's plotting the death of Wings, the next moment he's praising the demo (Now that he can get it to work.). The truth is its just an awesome demo. For people who can run it. It won't run on my other computer in the house; it meets specs, but it just won't run.... Its not the ATI thing either, that got fixed with the Catalyst 4.6 Drivers. Personally I think that S├Âldner is better than Joint Ops (Way too arcadish for me) and Battlefield: Vietnam (Once again, way too arcadish for me). Will people stop spelling it Zoldner though? Thats really starting to piss me off being as its blatantly wrong; leave it to the un-intellectual America to frigging kill an accent from another country. 7. Wow... I'm going to sue Germany for making my grandfather an alcoholic because it was his release during artillery barrages... What the heck? This is uncalled for; granted, IBM did do some shady stuff back in the '40s, thats obvious; but almost 60 years after the fact!? Its not even the same people in charge, and I'm sure most of the employee's working then have either deceased or retired. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime; Teach a man how to call a lawyer, and he'll sue you when he cuts himself with the hook.
  8. quote:Originally posted by Bandus: I hope to God they continue to patch this game because it needs polish. A lot of it. If your planning on buying this game, I strongly advise you to hold off a bit until they get it fixed up a bit. Yea, they're going the route of Flashpoint, and see what a successful game that turned out to be in the end? I don't know how many of you remember the release of Operation: Flashpoint? Version 1.0 was so buggy that while codemasters pushed it out the door in Europe, they waited another month or two for all the serious bugs to get fixed. I had it imported at this time; and while it was fun, it was terrible in the same sense. The AI didn't do half of what it was supposed to do (but it was better than S├Âldner's; but it came from a time where AI was considered important for a game; unfortunate that it obviously wasn't deemed important in this case). And lag was terrible. I've been observing the forums on the S├Âldner website since its european release, and the US is much better off than the Germans and Brits are. What the guys in europe got was an even worse beta. My guess is that JoWood pushed this game out the door early, and didn't get lucky this time. (To my understanding Gothic and Gothic 2 were both pushed out early, surprising, with how few bugs they had at release.) I might go and pick this game up still though. Even with the bugs its an awesome game; I play the demo regularly now. I have a feeling that by november they'll have all the serious glitches worked out, and hopefully an AI that actually shoots... EDIT: Oh, and Bandus; if you want more information on the current status of S├Âldner go here.
  9. SFC will probably live on. I'd bet that the former Taldren employee's will most likely support their old games long after this. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they put another OP patch out(not that it needs one at this point in time). I am disappointed though; this squashes any hope of another SFC style Trek game. (Although that was wishful thinking, since Paramount basically made sure another Trek game will not be made.)
  10. Yea... Lie about the status of your product; assimilate all competition for your product; if they do not comply, hire hitmen to kill them, then cleaners to make the bodies disappear forever. Make great things un-great and similar to the rest of the market by dumbing down and changing to the point where the premise is barely there, to attract the mass 12 year olds. Finally, ignore security, its not that important.... Who was I talking about? Valve? Microsoft? You decide.
  11. Have you tried Cat 4.6? They work fine for me, but then again, I've only got a Radeon 9000.
  12. Ok, it sounds like it failing the authentication then... Verizon's tech support should have been able to figure this out. Call them and get the setup IP for your Westell, see if they'll help you manually set it up as well. Also, double-check with them that your username and password are correct, and that they didn't do any weird caps or what not.
  13. quote:Because if they hate us because of our money, they had BETTER fear us because of our strength!!I agree, but thats what special forces are for, namely Delta Force. You hit the terrorists where they sleep while they're sleeping. The thing is though they attack in fear. Just like we're attacking them. Fear is a very dynamic emotion, it can work any of a thousand ways. For example, if Bush didn't fear them he most likely wouldn't have used the bad evidence to show a link between Iraq and Al Quaeda(sp?). Note, I call it bad evidence because it was deemed not credible, which in our Justice system (which foreign policy from several presidents, including both Bush's has extended internationally when concerning us) would not use. My issue with Bush is that he's secretive and frankly, as bad of a lier as Clinton. I know you're an open minded person Jag; go pick up "Worse than Watergate" by John Dean (the model of a true conservative democrat IMO). Before you jump on me, it is not yet another Bush bashing book(Thank GOD!). In fact almost everything that Dean writes that Bush has done is backed up by normally 2 or more sources. It also accuses other politicians of obsessive secrecy. If you ask me Bush is the model Active/Negative President. Just look at him with the whole gay rights thing. He lures the gay voters in, then when he gets elected he begins to push for an amendment banning gay marriage. I don't give a damn about gay marriage, and frankly I find it appaling that a President would try to get an amendment banning something in this country just because the Christian voters want it (research it, he never considered it until a Christian activist group approached him with it). Back on to Iraq though, I'm torn as to what was right. Yes, Iraq no longer was cooperating with the United Nations; No, Iraq is a free(I say that loosely) soverign state. Yes, he could have WMD capabilities; No, he didn't have enough time for a nuke and mobile labs are inefficient. Its a two sided never-ending useless debate, what needs to happen is rather than bickering what was right or wrong, the American people need to start concentrating on finishing up with Iraq, pulling our troops out, and fixing up the homefront. Personally, I don't like any of the candidates this year. None of them have grabbed me yet, which disappoints me because this is my first year I get to vote for a president. I'm not voting for Nader, ever, for obvious reasons. I feel Bush is too distrustful to be our President, so I'm not going to vote for him. Kerry......... um, I hate him; he's the model "New" democrat who has few morals and is as bent on election as Bush is. I guess it'll depend on who Bush and Kerry choose for their running mates.
  14. This is just a fun little thing that I figured some of you would enjoy. Therefore, ENJOY! http://www.matthewbarr.co.uk/muppets/index.htm I'm Gonzo!
  15. Jag, I can't stand it any more... I try to stay in the sideline, but I just can't right now. quote:If WE weren't bad, they wouldn't hate us and attack us, if we hadn't gotten involved in Iraq in the Gulf war, they wouldn't hate us, and wouldn't have attacked us. Tell's you EXACTLY how much they know about the Muslim countries in the Middle East. They are poor, because they choose to be, they made the choice to worship at the altar of death.Have you EVER read anything from the Koran? Islam is a peaceful religion. However, just like any other religion they have their extremists. There are Christian extremists, there are Jewish extremists, there are even Hindu extremists! Extremism exhists, don't blame a entire religion for the action of extremists. Power is everything in poor societies! You with all of your history should know this. Think of Feudalism; Money = Power. Hence one highly accepted reason for terrorism and such within the United States. Terrorism is more than just people killing for a cause; it includes some cases of fraud, illicit trade, and the likes. You want more on terrorism, check out the Federation of American Scientists website! It has TONS of reading material on all KINDS of terrorism. They hate us because we have money. Remember, money equals power in poor societies. quote:THe liberals do not get it, and never will get it.Jag, the political spectrum is a measurement of ACTIONS! IT IS NOT A CLASSIFICATION OF PARTIES. Not all democrats think liberal; there are democrats who think conservatively. You need to get out of that idiotic stereotype of yours that all democrats are liberal and they all want socialism and and and. IT gets old! Ok, we've heard it a million times! The democratic party does not believe in isolationism, what it does believe in is attempting to find a peaceful resolution rather than to jump to war! Look at the Clinton administrations first term; they came close to helping to achieve putting an end to the Israeli-Palestinian fighting, but someone who was afraid shot the key Israeli component in that deal! What about Bosnia. Mogidishu? Further back? Korea? All conflicts that took place during a democratic administration. What is truly hurting our political system is the fact that Democrats and Republicans can no longer get along. Our country is being split in two; a political civil war is beginning to take shape. If you don't believe me, just watch both Bush's and Kerry's campaigns, both are lying about everything, just to get elected. Yea, its their job, but what happened to the days where politicans we're elected because of how well they did the job? No, America elects whoever has the flashist campaign. Therefore, our system is no longer functioning as it should Jag... Didn't George Washington warn of this happening one day.
  16. One of two things that I can think of off the top of my head. 1) Like Freyar said, it could be your phone lines. 2) I've got a westell, are you sure you set it up right (It was a pain in the ass to set up). 3) Trojan Horse.. Got an AV? It sounds to me like its number one. When you hook the DSL modem up to your ethernet card do any of the lights come on, and what brand/make is it? On your DSL modem, is the ready light blinking, or solid? Finally, have you checked your computer for spyware lately?
  17. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: I am going to take a closer look at this and investigate it a bit, but in all honesty, it sounds like a bunch of Democrat propaganda to me. Yea... here we go agreeing again Jag... While I do consider myself a Democrat (but a moderate swaying between liberal and conservative one at that; aka an "Old" Democrat) this could be a little fishy. I'm looking more into it, but some friends of mine who have looked into it are finding stuff to back it up. I'll call one of them and ask them to e-mail me some links, perhaps we could all start investigating this there.
  18. Hey Rattler!! Welcome back for the time being? Do you have UC? You should try some MP with us if you have it!
  19. Geh... Commercials in video games, ugh... Heh, I love trying to figure out all the banner adds and stuff in sports games though, but they're only banners. I wouldn't mind advertisements in games if they were sort of incognito, like billboards, wall advertisements, etc. but if they added in something like commercials between levels.... I think you get where I'm going with this. *shrug* We'll see where this will take us.
  20. Wow... looks like the truth coming out about Horizons had an effect after all. I honestly didn't expect it to. Well, hopefully David Allen will get a game that he wants out into the market. This whole thing just further solidifies the need for some innovative design into games; but that while innovative design is good, it needs people who are willing to take the time and effort to try to fulfill that. My hats off to all developers who follow through with innovative design of games; 3000AD (of course), Cornered Rat Studios (WW2OL had a rough start, but its one of the best MMO games around now), Shrapnel Games, Lucasarts (Old Lucasarts, like from the time of Full Throttle and such), and Blizzard Studios (Who never seem to have a game that doesn't introduce some new thing to the genre).
  21. Also note that concerning CS, Gooseman (The original mastermind behind CS) decided not to go work with valve. I rememeber an interview I read on this a while back, that when Valve approached Gooseman and Jess about commercializing Counter-Strike, they already had ideas on where it will head. They didn't want to negotiate, or let Gooseman make the decisions, so rather than just be a coder with Valve, he opted to just let them take Counter-Strike from him. I also heard a rumor that a few weeks after they acquired Day of Defeat they fired a couple members of the orginal Day of Defeat team... the article I found this in goes to mention that the presumed reason was that Valve wanted to do something with Day of Defeat that the team didn't want to (I think it began with taking the bleeding out, but ended with scrapping all the old maps.) Disclaimer: RUMOR! Unfortunately there has never been proof of this to my knowledge. Valve is starting to shape out to be the Microsoft of gaming; although I'm sure I'll end up buying Half-Life 2 eventually (If I'll even be able to run it ) And yes, I still think that this royalty crap is BS that should never have never been created.
  22. Well, there's no doubt that the source code theft has delayed HL2 further, but it would have never been out when they were saying at the time the theft took place. However the need for Valve to focus on security probably only held it back a month or two. I'm afraid that Half-Life 2 is gonna end up vaporware or like Duke Nukem Forever. Anybody heard anything new on DNF? Did they finally can the product? Who knows. The DNF team kept pushing dates back and back, then eventually just dropped off the face of the earth. Then again, 3d Realms still hasn't closed their doors, so they must be getting money from somewhere. Back to HL2 though... I'm skeptical of any date that Valve sets now; not to mention they kill great mods (cough)Day of Defeat(/cough) by taking out everything that makes them different and unique... And this crap about royalties... valve is gonna get their butts kicked for this one. If I were a Microsoft or EA exec I would definitely try to jump on this one.
  23. ...For Sale mind you. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8111352149 I saw this on Slashdot today when I checked it. All I can say is, Wow, I want that.... Heh, I didn't know there were so many different versions of the N64 made. Kinda cool if you ask me, but I wouldn't want to think of the shipping... whatever this bid ends on the shipping is gonna be expensive.
  24. Wow... just wow. I need to get me one of those.
