  2. Ummmmm, now, I'm no expert on the way our legal system works, but writing a nasty letter like that about a Judge's ruling is contempt of court isn't it?
  3. quote:Originally posted by aramike: Oh yes, it's our ALLIES that should be able to behave to whatever moral standard they have this week. But if the Big Bad USA gets mad, we better consult and abide them... I never said that. International diplomacy is like courting a woman. If you're acting rude and disrespectful the entire time the woman isn't going to give you any respect back. If we have a damn good reason to ignore our allies, we should definitely do it. Recently though, we haven't. As Asimov said in the past, "Violence is the diplomacy of the incompetent." Right now, our international image is pretty damn incompetent because of Iraq, and to ignore that is just even more incompetent. I'm not saying Iraq was a bad thing either. I think in the end it was probably a good decision, but we can't ignore our international image, because at the end of the day its pretty important with how the world is today.
  4. quote:Originally posted by aramike: Would we be able to OCCUPY? Probably not, I would agree. Would the US military be able to win an offensive war, however? No doubt. Whatsoever. I think its easily argued that a war has not been won until your occupation is successful and any uprising has been quelled. You're right, we would win an offensive war within hours of invasion. However, China wouldn't let us succeed in an occupation of North Korea. They would most certainly invade as well and try to stop us dead in their tracks, any way they can. If gunfire starts on that peninsula I think there's a good chance we'll be looking at the third world war. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: People are to stupid to realize that if we left something alone, eventually it'll turn around and bite us in the rear end. That's exactly what is happening now.Of course, if we do whatever the hell we want it already worsens our already terrible International Diplomacy record. We've already pissed our allies off by telling them to piss off every time they tell us to calm down. Burning diplomatic bridges bites you in the ass just as bad.
  5. 1: Iran and Syria aren't exactly non-threats. Successful terror missions sponsored by both Iran and Syria have already caused serious uprising issues in Iraq. This is all surrounded by a growing problem between the Shiites and the Sunnies. 2: Last I checked, over the past few years South Korea has been becoming increasingly supportive of North Korea. In fact, South Korea was completely supportive of the North's "right" to civilian nuclear power, even though they knew that it would eventually result in the North being a nuclear state. They were also even more reluctant to pose sanctions immediately than China was. The US Military is currently exausted with troops in combat in both Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as non-combat deployments all over the rest of the world (including South Korea). The fact that guard units are still being called up to go back overseas is more proof of this than one needs. NATO may be able to quickly address this with US troops in the mix, however the US alone does not have the current capacity to deal with the North Korean threat.
  6. Actually, old El Reg summed it up pretty good. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/10/16/us..._be_of_service/ Makes sense. As long as we've got troops down there he's got something to cause fear in the populace.
  7. Still, there's always the case that it wasn't a dud. If the DPRK is stupid enough they're probably gearing up to test another one in a few months. We'll have to wait and see.
  8. Yup, seems pretty solid right now. Lets just hope he doesn't use them.
  9. quote:Originally posted by aramike: quote:Where Muslims have violence we have selfish pride... If you don't see the difference between violence and pride, you're blind. Pride can be peaceful - violence, by nature, cannot be. At the end of the day, someone else, even unintentionally, can suffer by another's selfish pride. Selfish is the key word; there are other types of pride, some better than others.
  10. I dunno... doesn't this better demonstrate that most gamers don't trust reviews anymore???
  11. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: The media is no different than the ACLU (Anti-Christian Lawyers Union) they don't like the religion or anything that it stands for so they are trying there hardest to find anything that is against it.Somehow I doubt that. Granted, they aren't to the level of Conservatism as many of you in this forum, but neither am I. Christianity isn't getting outright "attacked" by the media, its the most prevalant religion in America and honestly, ask yourself this, is it really that Christian to think that everyone's out to get you and your religion? Christianity is as messed up as any other religion right now; there's a huge pride issue that needs to be solved. Where Muslims have violence we have selfish pride... and thats not very Christian at all. The pride has caused a lot of Christians to instantly go on the defensive, just like you just did. RELAX! If you're really a Christian then respect the fact that God will handle them his own way and you should still "love thy enemies". That said, the media is most certainly scared about the Muslims and they've been that way since those reporters were killed in Afghanistan a few years ago. After that happened I noticed a slow drop in how much they sided with us... almost to the point where at times it seems as if they're reporting the news with an Islamic slant. Its fear... you can see it in their eyes when they report from Baghdad.
  12. quote:Originally posted by LostInSpace: Funny how the media has down played the attacks and burning of five christian churches in palestine.Thats because of fear. They're afraid that if they start siding with the Christians then news casters in the Middle East will become bigger targets. Can't say that I blame them.
  13. Yeah, they're not out of the rink yet, but they're down for the count right now. One can only hope they actually get up. Meh, the whole "Atari dying" thing really pretty much stinks though. All good things must come to an end though, right?
  14. Uhhhhh... does this have any hope of ever selling well in the PC market???? I mean... basic economics here... they can't be serious about this.
  15. Best of luck Kal. The teeth removal is easy but painful for a while afterwards (I had all four of my wisdom teeth surgically removed at once). Just remember to keep the holes they leave you with clean or they can get badly infected and you'll be doing even MORE surgery. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Yeah, each time I see an incorrect spelling in the thread topic, I cringe. Yeah, I'm anal like that. And thats why we love you SC!
  16. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: As corny as it may sound, the world is a lesser place without him. Its true. You know... I always thought a croc or snake would get him though... never expected a stingray.
  17. I want to know how they figured out how to make time actually backwards. Last I checked, latency was a measurement of time, which means it can't be negative....... Tbh, it just looks like a fancified Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.
  18. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: Yes.. but unlike you, I will have to take these stupid "Remedial" classes all because the government school's can't TEACH there students how to READ, WRITE and how to calculate MATH. My ending GPA was a 3.5 and even THAT doesn't allow me to escape those stupid classes. Ah well, that is one portion of the school system I can't defeat I guess. Well, not from the outside anyway Did you get a GED? If not then you should be fine. I went to public schools my entire life, and when I got to the University I handled myself just fine. If your GPA was a 3.5 then you'll be fine.
  19. quote:Originally posted by Darkling: quote:Originally posted by LostInSpace: Everything in this is verifiable. Not to mention the lastes antics by them. Scary stuff. What's good for Mel Gibson is good for Tom Cruise. Verifiable by what? They didn't give any links of any official newspapers or official city records, just other "home made" sites. Right, because Carnegie Mellon University isn't a reputable source....
  20. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: Seriously.... I need to find a new community college or something... Or apply for loans and go to a University.
  21. quote:Originally posted by Darkling: Yeah I noticed that it only has 1 pixel processor, where even the cheapest 6200 card has 3, maybe that's what I'll do, get the X2-3800 with a cheap 6200 card for now, I can always upgrade it later. I'm just thinking that getting a high end video card, instead of a high end processor, won't give me the performance I need in a UC game. As it is, by the time I get Fleet Command, the game is running so slow, it's almost unplayable. I mostly end up having to just do the Instant Action scenarios, where I'm not "Activating" too many areas of interest. Yeah, if you do that and can be patient, you can get yourself a DX10 card when they debut sometime later this year. The 6200 is lightyears better than the 6150... you can actually play video games on it, as opposed to imagining you're playing video games on your integrated 6150.
  22. Well, the big thing about Shader 3.0 is that is VERY card dependant. Even if UCSE does run, I'm not so sure that with Shader 3.0 required that it would run well. : If you get the 3800... make sure the mainboard is upgradable.
  23. One note of advice... the 6150 is probably not a notable improvement over your current card. If its not par its probably worse. However, if you get a 7800 AGP, you're going to find that your processor will be bottle necking. What about just getting a 6800 AGP?
