If you wanna tour, I'll be in da Redlight District - they need a hand down there disposing of all the excess of Empirian Ale! Now /that's/ what I call a welcome! Seriously, though. Thanks to everyone for the nifty welcome. Currently Tac and I are still discussing my wing assignment, but hopefully that'll be cleared up soon and I can finish up with all the 'official-ish' stuff, then come hang out... and help with that Ale problem.
  2. LOL. Apparently up until now I've been using a crappy browser without realizing it. It's amazing how much good stuff you can find out there once you've gotten past the corp. BS. At any rate, I like Opera's way of dealing with multiple browsing windows more than XP's. I tried setting XP on the 'group program types' for a while, and it drove me crazy. The only problem I've had with Opera so far is that certain javascript windows that are /supposed/ to pop up, even when you click on the links, are apparently blocked by the popup blocking utility. Still, in my opinion, it's a heck of a lot better than IE. [EDIT- clink=click. Bah. You'll have to excuse me. The 'review post' button is one of the things that won't work.] [ 02-03-2002, 16:17: Message edited by: Nathilus ]
  3. Wow! Earlier this week a friend of mine introduced me to an alternative browser called Opera that has a whole lot of nifty features, like pop-up blocking and multiple browsing windows opening up within the same iteration of the browser window (no more 10-15 IE tabs monopolizing my taskbar!) Having just gotten used to using this browser, I wanted to see if anyone else here has been using it. [EDIT- URL error. ] [ 02-01-2002, 20:14: Message edited by: Nathilus ]
  4. Does anyone but me find this issue hilariously funny? After all, the hand-arm syndrome that the doctors said this kid has is what jackhammer workers get after years and years of using the things.. Which makes using a vibrating controller for a few hours a day seem mild by comparison, to say the least. Maybe they should be testing him for acute caffine addiction instead.
  5. Finally! An RPG that outshines even the legendary NetHack ! ..Or something.

Heh. They do look kinda like can openers, don't they? What's more, they have folding wings that look like they belong on a sailboat or a blimp or something. I can see it now- you blow up another ship and the resulting shrapnel shreds your 'star sails', or whatever. You have to limp back to base with no yaw control.
  7. Thanks for the help, everyone. I was, in fact, trying to upgrade in the station. It became much easier when I tried outside the station.
  8. After a few weeks of playing the final release of BCM and a few months fiddling around with the second demo, I've finally decided to join a fleet, and I've decided that you fit my personality and skills the best. Since the fleet DB is down until further notice, I felt I should give you the heads-up instead of sitting on my hands. So, please tell me if there's anything I can do while the fleet DB is down... I'd really like to be all set up and ready to roll (fly) by the time the multiplayer patch is out. TIA.
  9. Heya everyone. After lurking here for quite some time, I finally had a problem that I couldn't find the answer to anywhere else, so I registered for the forum and I'm asking it myself. I've had the game for a week and a half or so, and mostly I've just been messing around, checking out the galaxy, seeing what can wipe me out at first and what can't, ect. I've finally started to play seriously, though; and I've started a roam career that I'm hoping will go well, so I can begin an ACM game. To that end, I was running the commlinks/FC chargers route between Galcom HQ and Genesis that is described elsewhere in the forum while my drones were mining Earth, and was wildly successful. Unfortunately, I've run into a few problems. First, when I but the commlinks I take my cargo bat 1 space down to 0, and it won't let me buy anymore, even though my Megaron has a second cargo bay that is compleyely unused. Is there a way to switch the 'active' cargo bay so I can use both of them? Also, I just bought a Numega engine to save on the radine I'm burning in this route, but the 'upgrade' button for the engines is still dark, and I can't assign any engineers to it. I have two theories of what I think might be happening. First, perhaps the Megaron can't equip the best engine? (that would be too bad!) ...Or maybe you have to install the upgrades in order. I dunno, which is why I'm asking here, of course. Any help'll be greatly appreciated. In a game as massively complex as this, it's easy to overlook a little but important thing, which is what I'm assuming I've done. EDIT- Whoops. I figured the system profile sig was dynamic and would be updated here when I fixed it. So, here it is for now. System Profile [ 01-29-2002, 18:57: Message edited by: Nathilus ]
