  1. is the damage per rof per percentage ratio linear? What I mean is...at 50% is the damage half as much and the rof half as slow? i.e. (these are made up numbers) 100%=60 dmg, 3 sec rate of fire and 50%=30 dmg, 1.5 sec rate of fire? Or is it quadratic? Is there a sweet spot for percentage that yields the most damage at the highest fire rate on an arc?
  2. ^ Was it Ender's Game or Starship Troopers where the bugs did that? It's been awhile since I've read either...
  3. I'm re-reading the dark elf series by R.A. Salvatore...I'm about halfway through..
  4. I just downloaded a cloak hak pack for NWN and loaded it onto the main story modules. Now my character looks all pimp in his solid black armor with a black cloak flowing down his back. So, seeing how awesome the character looks (and it works for good guys, too) and seeing how often characters in books wear cloaks..and even the fact that the cloak ITEMS exist in the game even if they aren't rendered.... WHY? Why aren't the cloaks rendered? Is there some unspoken rule in game developer land that you can't include cloaks because it would make the player characters look too badass?
  5. Interestingly enough, I've never stuck with a single game long enough to get paid

    The Passion

Probably means I won't ever watch it, considering I don't speak anything but English.
  7. Something about being forced to rely on a crosshair AND having weapons that don't always fire where the crosshair is pointing that just irritates me. Then there's the suicide bombers that will continue to throw thermal detonators at point blank range... Hopefully JA will not have these problems
  8. So I went about 8 months without playing this game, then decided to start it up again. (Thanks in part to playing through the Space Quest series again ) Anyway, as I loaded up and undocked from Galcom HQ, I realized that I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Apparently I've managed to forget almost everything I'd learned back when I played regularly... C'est la vie. As the cadence says, "Here we go again!"
  9. That's just proof that movies and games are ruining imagination...
  10. Well, unless there's an age limit on the store, then it's easy access for the elementary school kids to get to. Whereas if it was in a different place, then the out of sight, out of mind rule applies. Kids won't go out of their way looking for rules to break, but if you put the opportunity in their lap...
  11. You, dear sir, are a very cynical person... Note to self: Never own a house light enough to transport on a truck. Related issue...There was a soldier I knew at Campbell that had all his stuff stolen by "movers"...he had contracted a company to come get his stuff. Well, they showed up a little early and his roommate let them in because he knew the guy was expecting movers (bad move #1). Well, they boxed up all his stuff and loaded it on the truck, never to be seen again...
  12. Your freedoms only extend until they interfere with someone else's freedoms. In that case, the passive freedom wins. I.E. Your freedom to sell nudey comics is overridden by my freedom to not see them in comic store across from my kid's school..
  13. What is the console's biggest advantage? Compatibility. Any game made for a console WILL work on the console. The hardware is pretty much standard for all models of the same console. You don't have to worry about updating drivers or downloading patches (although it looks like some console games are getting that way!) When I buy a new PC game, 9 times out of 10, it doesn't work until I go through an hour or more's worth of screaming, yelling, cussing and downloading.. When I buy a new console game, I put it in, turn the game on and sit down with the controller. It runs fine. Another advantage: The couch. Consoles are played on a television and are more conducive to relaxing play or even playing with friends, just add a control and grab a seat...whereas computer's require you to have one box and screen per set..then there's the hassle of getting the network set up properly (which never happens on the first try)...
  14. The only way I could be convinced to get the PC version is if they include some multiplayer a la NWN...if not...then I won't get it...
  15. Ever since I first saw the movie as a lil kid, I wanted to play with the discs and light cycles...and this game lets you do it...if that was ALL it did, I'd buy it. But it's even got a decent single-player story with Rebecca Romjin-Stamos and Bruce Boxleitner doing voices...AND it's an official sequel to the movie? Hell ya! Who do I make the check out to? Oh, and the demo absolutely rocks! Although I don't like the disc arena from the first demo and I hope the full game ships with a pure, wide open light cycle grid..
  16. I've seen the two escape movies, but only on cable
  17. Who says you have to be a teenager to drool over her?
  18. That's the problem with being 23 years old...I like all these old movies, but I couldn't buy them when they came out and I can't find them now...guess I get to hit up Amazon....
  19. You've got to be kidding.... Psychiatric care just because a bunch of people on the internet saw a little short he made? That kid needs to grow some balls. If it had been me, I'd have laughed about it and that'd be the end.. (but then I'd never make a video like that in the first place) In short...what a maroon!
  20. I haven't seen it yet, but I want to...from the previews alone, it looks like they did a much better job and took the movie a little more seriously than the first one. James Bond meets Indiana Jones with a heroine instead of a hero....sounds like a winning combo
  21. Actually, the whole game is based off of Bioware's NWN game engine. Skills, feats, combat....it's all there. The skills and feats and classes are apparently watered down/modified 3rd edition D&D rules. As far as the all nighter...yeah, I'd been playing for around 20-30 hours already (I'm not sure how long exactly, since my save file corrupted somehow and the game timer read over 1 million hours) then pulled the all-nighter because I was on the last planet and thought I could beat it in 5 hours or so from there...it took 10...ah well, C'est La Vie.. If you never played NWN, then yes, combat is similar to Final Fantasy...but there are idle animations in combat, especially in melee, where the characters attack, block and dodge even when they aren't actually attacking just to keep up the feel of fast paced combat.
  22. Knights of the Old Republic. Anyone else play it or are you all anti-console activists? It's addicting, fun, replayable...well..to sum it up...I stayed up all night the other night to beat it, then took a three hour nap and started playing from the beginning again When a game does that, you KNOW it's good! I would give details, but I'm too tired, so if you are interested, ask..I might make it back to these forums in time to answer...if not...well, it won't be the first of my threads to wear cement shoes
