  1. The planets look much improved, nice job. I also thought the ship fading out and in from hyperjumping was a nice effect. Cloaking too, but especially the Trek-like "warping" effect. Nice.
  2. You only use the F key to get enough altitude to safely enter FTOL. In FTOL mode, you can easily reach the egress altitude (check the manual revisions doc), and then select the egress planet key which is on the command sheet under keyboard controls.
  3. quote:Originally posted by NukeIt: You name your CC when you create a character and select your asset type. The asset name prompt is right near the asset type. I think Solidburn meant on this board, i.e. in his signature, rather than in-game.
  4. Hmmm, I'll have to check out House of Sand and Fog, 76% on Rottentomatoes. The only thing I saw over the weekend, and for the first time no less, was Dial M for Murder. Fun little Hitchcock flick. Except it was colorized.
  5. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the 3000AD community!!
  6. Thats the most impressive game FAQ I have ever read (or glanced at actually). Props to you.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Fuller: Ok, here goes. 1. Will the capability of sending an away party of marines to an enemy ship be implemented? 2. Can I capture and control enemy ships? Please, please say it is so SC. I'm pretty sure the answer is no to both questions. You will have to wait for Battlecruiser Next Generation for that. And the SC has only talked about wanting to do it for BNG, no promises were made.
  8. quote:Originally posted by Soback: Urban warfare Sobacks style: Option #1: Transmitt an evacuation message on loudspeaker for 96 hours, after that, completly anihilate the whole city, not reduce to rubble, I mean annihilate. Option #2: If infrastructure is to stay intact, transmitt an evacuation message on loudspeakers for 96 hours, then after weather calculations and planning, gas the whole city for 76 hours (like killing termites). Whatever happened to that bomb that the Carter administration wanted to develop. The one that just killed people, but left buildings/infrastructure intact? Thats what we need for the Fullujahs of the world. Ahh, here we go
  9. These scum have finally reached the lowest form of humanity. Killing the director of CARE International in Iraq, she has spent her life helping ordinary Iraqis. I think they have exhausted their attempts to "shock" thw Western world. What next, the Pope? Link
  10. I'd bet my house that Halo 3 is an Xbox 2 title, likely a launch title if they could pull it off in that timeframe.
  11. You could also destroy it, and then replace it at a station.
  12. quote:Originally posted by Admiral Phoenix: Sweet!!!! Im there! BTW is it at all possible to have more then 8 pilots at a time in UC? No.
  13. UC is a more advanced version of BCM in every way. There are numerous features that UC has that make it a far superior game. I especially like the improvements that make it much easier to order assets that are under your command (example the PLV and TOM systems). Umm, just go out and get UC. Its only $20. Its kind of a waste of time playing BCMG these days, other than for nostalgic reasons maybe.
  14. marsh, The best answer to your questions will be answered from YOU playing the game. If you think you have found a bug, don't bother. The game is very mature and I don't think you can discover any mysteries the SC hasn't come across. The game has many variables that we can't always explain. Chalk it up to realism. The game would be pretty boring if you could always predict how it (AI) reacts to various scenarios, right? Keep playing the game, it one day all make some sense you thats when you will know you are no longer a noob.
  15. I have to agree with the SC regarding MP vs. SP. I feel I'm probably part of the silent majority. Although I'm intrigued by the concept of BC/UC multiplayer in-game and even moreso, the overall fleet community, I have refrained from getting involved in MP, simply because I have been playing the hell out of single player BCM and UC for over 2 years now and it is all I am looking for from the game at this time. As a single player game, I think we can agree that its pretty special. Hopefully future BC/UC games can satisfy both communities.
  16. Sharon has changed his ideals and isn't the hawk that he once was. But who can blame any Israeli government for taking a hard line when they are surrounded by countries that want to annihilate them. With that said, I'm not sure he's the man to bring peace. I'd like to see Shimon Peres get a crack at it with Abbas opposite him. Arafat was nothing more than a terrorist dressed to give the PLO a diplomatic face. He never accepted anything short of a Palestinian state that completely replaced Israel.
  17. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: The last time this happened, was when I banned some tit from here. So unless others have got this recent deluge, I'm probably being targeted again. Tit? Don't you mean git?
  18. quote:Originally posted by avaktar: I took out ships and collected a ton of cargo pods at one point today, and then my finger slipped on the Windows key. After putting up with that windows key for 6 years, I finally took a paperclip, popped it off and put tape over the grommet so dirt wouldn't fall in. My point is, even in outter space, Bill Gates can get me. Ummm, there are better ways to disable the windows keys. The world's greatest tool
  19. quote:Originally posted by Has: What browser do you guys recommend for P-III 850 256MHz (not upgradeble) laptop? I┬┤m using IE6 and was wondering if Opera or Firefox are less demanding on resources. I'm not sure resources should be your primary concern in a traditional sense. Its more a question of security vs. compatibility. Nothing is going to be more compatible than IE itself. But on the other hand, Firefox does a better job keeping malware off your system (from what I hear). So if this crap that gets installed on your system is allowed to live undetected, then it will certainly have a detrimental effect on system performance. As well as your private information. I personally, continue to use IE but keep a close eye on malware using various tools, i.e. router/NAT, Kerio personal firewall, AVG (anti-virus), ad-aware (Lavasoft) and Spybot Search and Destroy.
  20. Bah. But is it compatible with all that neat adware and spyware the wife and kids download?
  21. Heh, Bill Clinton being the nation's First Lady would be kind of ironic. Not to mention hilarious.
  22. If the Dems want the White House back, they are going to need to nominate a more moderate candidate. They should know that a liberal candidate from Massachusetts has little chance to paint the map blue in the south and midwest. Despite going up against a vulnerable incumbant, the dems still lost. Clinton (Bill not Hillary) would have destroyed Bush. I don't think Hillary has enough broad based support to win, she's viewed as another NE liberal by too many. I don't think she will ever be electable.
  23. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: Clinton got us 911, got us a nuclear armed Norht Korea, gutted the military, and caused the recession that Bush inherited with his tax hikes. Clinton was a HORRIBLE president, and history will look on him with disdain. And turned a blind eye to Bin Laden's Afghanistan camps. But maybe thats what you mean by 911?
  24. quote: What I am scared of, though, is the though of Kerry getting elected because I have NO IDEA what his stance on anything is. (I'm not sure even he does.) He puts his finger to the wind to see what direction the wind is blowing. I live in MA where he's been Senator for like, forever, and I still have no idea what this guy is passionate about.
