  1. This one really made the corners of my mouth turn up.
  2. The four posts above mean more to me than any medal could. Thx. @Remo From hosting a server myself and playing around with the server-logs (l5 just aint funny ). I got a good idea of how much data these logs contain and how much work it is to analyse them. You put in so much effort for the match that you deserve a little help.
  3. quote: In logistics, with JUST solarpanel power...you can turn EVERYTHING on...at maximum. Engine to 10, SR to 10, shields ...etc. This is what I meant. You mean you can power the systems but do they actually work? Engine does not work, cloak does not work and a few more, in my case.
  4. Yes, I do know the best sweetspot on a Violon. I also know that you are not in the correct fleet for me to give you the answer.
  5. quote: Originally posted by Street: In conclusion: It LOOKS like, you run around with the thing set to 10, and then, you find yourself in a situation, where there is NO light source, and your NR shuts down...and life support will maintain for an x amount of time. Took my Violon out for a test. Ordered a full stop and waited till we were dead in the vacuum (water doesn't apply). Aligned my ship so the sun is directly above me and shows yellow with red circles. Powered everything down in logistics but the solar reactor(10), nuclear reactor, main- and aux lifesupport. Waited for 4 hours. (checked alignment of the sun regularly, it didn't change) Shut down the nuclear reactor and rotated the ship so that the solar reactor went to 0. Life support went down immediately and less than a minute later my crew's LF starts going down. Four hours of sun-bathing didn't do me any good. x = 0 Street, you say in the top of your post that EVERYTHING works. What do you mean by that because without the nuclear reactor some systems refuse to work?
  6. quote: I have to say DreadX was literally less than thirty seconds ahead of me. I've actually been studying the fluxlines in the MP map, and I'm wondering if it's possible to get from NZone to Gaulan in as little time as it takes to do the reverse. No sour grapes mind you, I had a blast, but I know DreadX and I both started at the same time and were unopposed on our way to the opposing position. It turns out you were 3 minutes and 15 seconds behind me, Zane. quote: Mon Aug 23 02:44:35 2004 SERVER Dreadx (ICV-Goedendag) entered hyperspace Mon Aug 23 02:46:08 2004 SERVER TER/MIL Zane Marlowe[iSS] (GCV-Saratoga) moved from MP_CASTRINZ to MP_GAULANZ Mon Aug 23 02:47:45 2004 SERVER Dreadx (ICV-Goedendag) entered hyperspace Mon Aug 23 02:47:50 2004 SERVER Zane Marlowe[iSS] (GCV-Saratoga) entered hyperspace Mon Aug 23 02:48:00 2004 TER/INS Dreadx>shuttle go booom Mon Aug 23 02:48:25 2004 SERVER ***********Match Over************************ Nzone -> Gaulan would take the same amount of jumps as Gaulan -> Nzone so I see no reason why it would take longer to go one way. quote: It's got me thinking about what might happen if the commanders for GALCOM started from Palean (as Gammulans in order to have access to the station position) since fluxlines one and two both have equally advantageous outlets from there. Something to try perhaps, have a look at the map and see what you think Flux-lines 1 and 2 ?? Standing in Gaulan, I would have 25% on 1 jump (to your shuttle), 25% on 3 jumps, 25% on 5 and 25% on 6 jumps. Standing in Palean, You would have 25% on 1 jump (to my shuttle), 25% on 2 jumps, 25% on 4 jumps and 25% on 6 jumps. You would be better off, not to mention the fact that Palean has two gammulan stations. Maybe choose Tapestran for the Insurgents and not Gaulan.
  7. Had a blast. It was my first Teamspeak experience and I liked it. Took a Screenshot in round 2 while we were waiting for everybody to get to their starting points (it's not my best but it's a spontanious one). Comments: Overall. As discussed online, 30 minutes is a bit short for a mp match. First Match. I was confused about this first match last night but since the game went on, I put it to the back of my head. In the match, I took on the job of baby-sitting Sho's shuttle. After much waiting I got the TISOT-message and went to station-1. There was a cloakie in the neighbourhood. I saw the typical "out of nowhere"-firing and moved to intercept. Not the carrier but the firing arcs. The shuttle lost it's shields and some of it's armour. Then I got hit several times but to my joy I saw the shuttle recover it's shields. I don't know if I succeeded in bringing my cruiser in Namotus' line of fire or that he choose to shoot at me (hopefully he can shed some light on that). Meanwhile, my turrets wouldn't engage the "unseen" foe so I turned about to get a ion-cannon firing solution on it. When firing upon Namotus, I saw our shuttle getting destroyed by him and seconds later Namotus blew up due to an overdose of starstation-turret-fire!! Since I was firing upon Namotus at the time I told Sho via teamspeak that our shuttle was destroyed and that "I" had Namotus just a few seconds too late (it turned out resilient got him, not me). Looking at my mpchatclient log of the first match I found this: quote: Mon Aug 23 00:00:36 2004 SERVER TER/MIL Namotus (GCV-Polor-A01) moved from MP_CASTRINZ to MP_GAULANZ Mon Aug 23 00:01:58 2004 SERVER Namotus (GCV-Polor-A01) entered hyperspace Mon Aug 23 00:04:55 2004 SERVER Player Namotus (GCV-Polor-A01) destroyed by TER/INS RESILIENT Mon Aug 23 00:04:04 2004 TER/INS ShoHashi Shuttle destroyed The time stamp is for GMT+1 but it shows Sho's shuttled destroyed 51 seconds before Namotus got toasted. Remo, could you please check what happened between Namotus's last jump and his demise? In the second round I saw little action. The third round was a spectator-round for me. Even this is fun. Listening in on your teams teamspeak channel trying to get a good overall picture of what is happening to them is great and the time (outside the game)flies by. The fourth round was the carrier-round for me. My turn at placing the shuttle and do the cloak thingy. By this time Mordax and Sho were just too shot up to continue (credits to Shingen). In this round the Insurgents saw what mistake they had made in the past round. Correcting this mistake, no effort was spared in contracting Shingen of TDH to fight for our cause this time. The details of this contract are unknown to the general public but it is believed that the Insurgents needed to bring a handsome sum of credits as well as specific listed items before TDH started to show interest. Fortunately for the Insurgents, it payed of. While Chavik and Shingen took the Castrin-gate in search of game, I called an "All Hands" and informed my onboard crew of my intentions. We would simply take the shortcut through flux01; jump to Palean; make faces at the Gammulan Starstation (the complete crew had a great time here); continue to Nzone; destroy a shuttle; head to Laststop for some maintenance and R&R. Resnig was saying that he thought this wasn't a good idea and advised otherwise. I said it didn't matter what he thought since I was going to let him personally take charge of the objective shuttle and maintain radio-silence. Launched the shuttle with Resnig on board and went ahead as planned. At the end of the day we were looking at each other's surprised faces that we actually pulled it of. Even Resnig survived. Looking at the log file for this round, I later saw that Zane was pretty close himself by the time I nailed the shuttle. Like to read his story. Like to take this opportunity to say big THANX to all ppl participating and putting in the effort to get this of the ground (and in to space) but to Remo a special big THANX for his performance as "Master of Ceremony" for the match. 8. Do you also see this behaviour when the shuttle is piloted by one/two of your high AI pilots or crew members?
  9. Congrats Mordaxx. Now get a license to drop para's and come to Texel Airport. [edit] Chavik, here's a thought for when you're done with your fence. Take a look at the fence to the right side in the join-picture on the BCS. Take a picture of your fence at approx. the same angle and post it. Sit back and see what happens. Shohashi knows his beer. Mordaxx, isn't the Grolsch brewery near your place? [ 08-19-2004, 06:21 PM: Message edited by: dreadx ]
  10. It's indeed a reference to a serie of books. "Sword of truth" And the fence is comming along nicely, I see. What's it for? Did you chop the trees down with an axe (or did you go for the easy way with a chainsaw)? It's difficult to see in the pictures.
  11. Welcome Alric or should I adress you as Lord Rahl?
  12. quote: once we run Don't worry, we also planned on you doing the running. (and just kidding)
  13. quote: Generally, a pilot that has 10 sorties and has 10 (space/air) kills will raise about 2 points in dogfighting. I've tried to find this relation myself (in BCMG) and didn't see any change at about 30 sorties and over 20 kills. I stopped trying. Your statement gives me that little push I needed to investigate this issue once again as there apparently is something to gain. Thanx. quote: Resnig and Better, somehow I feel that doesn't work in the same sentence together. Ehm.., I think you would find the words "Better than Resnig" easy to use in almost all sentences. You could even slip it in during some casual conversation if you want.
  14. exellent simplicity and a nice site.
  15. I trail you by 7 years and 1 month, ShoHashi. Thx guys, for letting me feel young again at your expenses! signed, dread_mkii_mod_a
  16. Let's hope you make it. Couple of years back some colleagues and I aplied for a place in the first Big Brother. We got a "thank you"-note stating that we (Navy ppl) were already used to living in a cramped space with a lot of ppl for a long period of time and therefore wouldn't be good entertainement value (we were not likely to freak out). They did send us a video with what the show was all about though. quote: Originally posted by Chavik: Lessee, we got our own dreadx. Well, actually it's "Dread_mkii_mod_a" but I'm getting older and the typing tires me so I shortened it to "DreadX"
  17. quote: Originally posted by ShoHashi: I'm a little jealous though....where's my fleet picture? Actually, I'm looking for a good (original)location for that picture. If Spectre wants one too, that's possible, as I already have a good location for that one. Won't make them in the next two weeks but soon after.
  18. Back with a new uniform. Looks nice.
  19. Well, thanx. Heads for the tailor.
  20. I wish you guys a fertile meeting for the benefit of mp.
  21. quote: The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn't. This looks like DNA (Douglas Noel Adams) style to me. Maybe it seems familiar because you read "The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" or some other title from his hand?
  22. Living in Holland (The Netherlands) is just great! If you don't mind giving half your income to the IRS and paying the equivalent of $ 6,75 for a gallon of fuel. The weather is based on a sea climate. Soft winters, warm summers and a lot of rain throughout the year. The clouds we get here are something special, a lot of classic painters (Rembrandt, Vermeer, van Gogh) used them for inspiration. Den Helder is a small city in the northern part of The Netherlands. It has seas on three sides and it is no surprise that 1/3 of the population is fisherman, 1/3 is Navy and 1/3 is running the shops etc. Holland (means "Hollow Land") or The Netherlands (means "The lands that are lower") is, for a large part, below sea-level. My house is 6ft below. The highest point above sea-level is about 980 ft (yes, feet not yards). This hill is often called the Dutch mountain. If you want to know what it looks like over here, look at an old landscape painting from a dutch master, add some tarmac, concrete, a 747 in the air and you get the idea.
