  1. [RP] The Insurgent carrier pitched and rolled, pointing slightly to its left and bellow the Polaris wormhole. ICV Daedalus entered hyperspace and headed past it, straight into nullspace toward the Terran quadrant, and disappeared from the 'explorer' probe's long range sensors within seconds. Since this new long-range hyperdrive did not shield the ship from weapons fire like the standard one, Galcom ships could not only detect Daedalus as normal (unless it was cloaked) but fire on it as well while it was still in hyperspace. Time would tell if Kalshion's forces would get that chance before Garrison, Shingen, Mariko and the Insurgents made it to Sol. .... Rick knew a confrontation with Galcom would come sooner or later. He was prepared to answer for, and justify, his actions. (tag Kalshion) [/RP]
  2. [RP] ICV Daedalus had its shields breached once and nearly lost a fighter before partially disabling the enemy cruiser. "Agreed, Admiral. We need to get to Sol." (tag Sho) "Commander, thanks for the assistance. What can I do to help?" Rick said as the ship shook slightly from the cruiser's receiding weapons fire. "Any time, Garrison." canshow said as Rick, Sho, Shingen, Mariko, Badman and canshow all walked out of the shuttle bay. canshow handed Rick a ZS10 and three other assault rifles and said, "You can start by clearing out those 7 intruders on the lower decks. Admiral would you join me on the bridge?" (tag Sho) "Certainly, Commander." Rick turned to Mariko, giving her the first pick of weaponry. Shingen refused as he had brought his own ordinance. Rick turned to Badman, "Would you be more familiar with a non-ranged weapon?" he asked adding a 30 inch Ti daggar to the time-traveler's weapon options. (tag Shingen, Badman) ------ Cargo Bay 1 ICV Daedalus These strange metal projectile weapons were a far cry from the firey arrows Badman had trained with in his own time. But would a daggar of even this quality suffice against such an enemy? Two of canshow's marines lay injured on the deck plating. The six intruders spread across the cargo bay and coordinated their practiced fire against the four newcomers. Rick took aim with the ZS10 and fired with his own well-practiced accuracy. (tag Shingen, Badman: combat sequences here) Not one of the inturders made it alive. Rick and Mariko were taken to Medibay for injuries, Mariko's the most serious. ------ Zelana/Lanix V ICV Daedalus Main Engineering Rick had started his Earthcom career as an engineer. Now, against canshow's Medical Officer's better judgment, Rick assisted with repairs to the new hyperdrive. He adjusted another relay before nodding to the Chief Engineer. The chief tapped his communicator, "Engineering to Bridge. Long range hyperdrive has been restored." "Acknowledged, Chief. Bridge out." canshow stood beside Sho looking 0ut the bridgeviewer. The Admiral had ordered Daedalus to Sol. But it was now canshow's choice to either jump directly there. Or take the wormhole to Polaris as normal. Little did they know that GCV Bison Gon Flure waited cloaked right on the other side. ------ Actis V/Procyon ECV Ashdod offloaded its supplies to the station without incident before receiving fresh orders from Ragnarok. Coordinate with Beta Wing and find that Stormcarrier. Sergeant First Class Tracey Dodds relayed some further scans to Commander Presto before calling Ashdod's two fighters and reentering nullspace. [/RP]
  3. Small business drives our economy because, among other advantages, they can grow the fastest. The losers can lose big, but the winners can see explosive gains! BTW, I fixed the spelling of 'mission' in my previous post. There, tek. You got the four replies you asked for!
  4. If canshow or anyone aboard the shuttle posts before I do, write the Daedalus coming to the shuttle's rescue, perhaps in mid combat with the raiders. Then hi-tail it over to the Trenis system before the Credians decide Insurgents are no longer welcome. The Gammulans aren't the only military for Terrans to contend with any more. Use your imagination, guys - here's your chance to advance the plot.
  5. I'm glad you're enjoying the current mission, Badman. I am too. I'm happy for you, Tek. Small business is what drives our economy.
  6. Sho, Eclipse, I think canshow would like a fleet signature, among other info.
  7. I have updated my last Apogee post.
  8. Thanks, tek. That's the sort of initiative I'm looking for. Badman, remember to update your rank each time you check in for a roll call or do an RP post - until I tell you to stop advancing it. Now that you see how roll calls are done, you can try to beat tek to it next month. You're both doing a great job. What's new with you guys? Tek, how's the sales business?
  9. That's a lot of ships, Kal. It's good to be King of the Fleet. [RP] In orbit of Polaris-1 "I appreciate the response and apologize for the harshness of the request, we've had insurgent gun-runners recently in the area and have used false identification codes, including labeling a ship as being something it isn't. I have confirmed who you are, though I must also apologize that I can't accompany you. I am under orders to head to Sol." Tracey nodded, "Understood, Commander. Pleasant journies." She prepared to close the channel, as Presto glanced off-screen and then back. "Actually Sergeant, I seem to have orders to escort you while you are in Polaris and Procyon," "Very well, then, Commander. We will be bypassing the local station today and visiting Polaris-2's northern civilian starbase for a change. We carry two fighters, rather than shuttles, which are currently deployed elsewhere. Therefore we will take the ship itself into the atmosphere in one minute." (tag Kal/Presto) About 20 minutes later, ECV Ashdod emerged from the planet's atmosphere close to GCV Aretes' orbital position, its small cargo bays loaded to the brim with valuables. GCV Deten had since joined Aretes. "Ashdod to Aretes. Commander Presto, we are ready to get underway. Course plotted for Actis V." (tag Presto) "Ashdod out." The Earthcom cruiser opened a hyperspace window and headed not for the wormhole leading to the Procyon system, but in a slightly different direction, out into nullspace. They flew past many uninhabited starsystems that were not on the jumpgate network but which layed between Polaris and Procyon. During the jump, Tracey moved from the command chair to her normal station at Tactical. She noticed an unidentified object that seemed to match their course and speed less than 700km to the port side. Why would there be something out here, in the middle of no where? "Ryan, drop us out of hyperspace now." Flight Officer Corporal Ryan Skidmore complied and brought Ashdod down to sublight speeds, less than half way to the Procyon system. "What is it, ma'am?" asked Medical Officer Corporal Kayla Trindad, who had joined them on Ashdod's bridge. Dodds squinted at her tacops display before saying, "Claire play back the last 30 seconds of tacops view of us on the bridge viewer." Nav Officer Lance Corporal Claire Tolen displayed the video image on the bigscreen. "There." Dodds said pointing to the screen. Zoom in on that object that tacops calls a 'disabled' asteroid." Sure enough it was not a rock at all but a fast moving ship, a stormcarrier. Skidmore pipped up, "Sergeant, I don't think they've seen us. And we can't see them now. Either they're cloaked or did not drop out of hyperspace when we did." Tracey sighed in relief, "Very well, then. Hidetoshi, transmit our findings to Ragnarok and to our Prime Fleet escorts. Mr. Skidmore, resume course." ------ Rinaal, Cyrian Rick piloted the shuttle away from New Frontier and looked up Daedalus's last known position. Admiral ShoHashi was quite weary of venturing out undermanned - let alone with only non-insurgents for company - especially after the Resupply Duty incident last month. He accepted Garrison's invitation and joined him in the shuttle's forward section, as Shingen, Mariko and Badman continued their card game in the larger rear section. "Ah, Admiral. Just in time. Would you care to learn the long-range nav interface?" "That was my thought too, First Sergeant." ShoHashi said taking his seat next to Garrison. Rick brought up the navitron computer. The main computer overlayed the standard star chart (just the starsystems on the jumpgate network) with the latest reported locations and headings of many insurgent vessels. "There." said Sho, pointing to the Daedalus, up in the Lydan region of the Krynon system. Rick nodded, "That's good." He entered the selection into the helm as normally done from the navitron computer. "See? The interface is navitron, tacops and either up-to-date intel or probe telemetry. You're already familiar with these tools separately. So you're all set." He engaged the sequence and the shuttle entered hyperspace. "Unlike regular hyperdrive, we can drop out at any time, change course mid-flight, or even jump in just a general direction without a specific destination in mind." (tag Sho) Several minutes later, the shuttle was crossing the edge of nullspace approaching Lydan when they came under attack from a Fal/Rai cruiser. ------ Lydan/Krynon, Credian Quadrant canshow's crew had just finished modifying ICV Daedalus' engines for direct long-range hyperspace travel. Systems were just coming back online when they received a distress call from ShoHashi's shuttle in the ajacent region. The Admiral and his 'friends' were under attack by a Fal/Rai cruiser! (tag canshow) [/RP]
  10. It's fine, Sho. We all get busy. As fellow Fleet Leaders, I give you and Kal permission to write for my char if I can't for a while. You've seen how I've occasionally played yours. It's only fair I give you the same leeway. BTW a word on these parenthetical tags I've been using. When I say (tag Badman) that means what I'm writing is for Badman to respond to (others can too) but him most of all. Yet another convention in mainstream message-board simming.
  11. Title the thread like teknocack titled last month's roll call. You can say whatever you want within.
  12. [RP] ECV-Ashdod arrived in Actis V, Procyon and delivered its cargo to the Galcom Starstation there. First Officer Dodds then ordered the ship to the Polaris system to pick up a new shipment, bound for a different selling point this time. Comms Officer Kamezaki observed a transmittion an said, "Sergeant, we're being hailed by a Prime Fleet carrier." Dodds nodded. "Put it through." she said. The face and upper uniform of an experienced Galcom commander came on the bridgeviewer. "This is commander Presto of the Aretes to Ashdod, please state your reasons for being in this sector." Reasons? As far as Tracey could recall, Earthcom had joursdiction over as much territory as did Galcom. Still, she had nothing to lose by being polite, honest and forthright. "Certainly, Commander Presto. I'm Sergeant First Class Tracey Dodds, First Officer of this vessel. Our Commander, First Sergeant Richard Garrison, is currently away on other business. In his stead, I've been ordered to conduct a standard roaming patrol until ordered otherwise. In the process we've been conducting some trading runs to help supplement Vanguard Fleet's UFN budget. What can we do for you? Would you care to accompany us?" ------ New Frontier Starstation ShoHashi, Badman, Garrison, Shingen and Mariko boarded the modified Insurgent shuttle and launched from the station. Garrison took the helm as Badman, and the two indies entertained themselves in a card game. "Admiral, would you care to join me at the ops station?" Rick offered. [/RP]
  13. OK, I've given Sho some opportunity to write himself boarding the shuttle to leave the station. Plus I've been somewhat busy. It's time to move on in the story. I personally would rather not use timestamps in my posts. I sometimes only have a few minutes to compose a post. If it takes too long to write it because I track down the story's date and time, then I may need to wait until another time to post. As you can see, that's not good for our story. But please, Shingen, if you want to use timestamps, please do so. If you have any questions, or if this is not satisfactory, please PM me or post in this topic. My door is always open.
  14. My site is now gone for good. Kal, I got your e-mail from the Prime Fleet bb. Let me know when you have the appendix files hosted somewhere. Thanks for your help, man. I appreciate it.
  15. LOL, canshow. We just turned off the lights at my house and turned in early. I was dead tired anyway. Hope everybody had fun.
  16. Excellent job, both of you. Your signatures look good. Would one of you start this month's roll call thread?
  17. Kal, don't worry about getting my ok on this. I was just hosting it too (until now). Anything's fine with me. I love the idea of a wiki, especially for original (new) reference material.
  18. Excellent! Thanks so much, Kal.
  19. This one? http://www.geocities.com/quazar_2004/1_arc...ta/history.html You got everything else? Including all the images?
  20. Welcome Kalshion. Galcom has now entered the foray! [RP] ECV Ashdod, 1409hrs The Euporie-class Starcruiser skimmed through hyperspace between Terran and Syrion Quadrants heading for Credian space. Nav Officer Sergeant Claire Tolen had plotted around the galactic core with ease now after much practice. First Officer Sergeant First Class Tracey Dodds sat in the command chair contemplating a course change, she didn't know why. "Have we confirmed there is in fact a blockade in place at Anits?" she asked. Comms. Officer Lance Corporal Hidetoshi Kamezaki had anticipated such an inquiry and already had the answer. No Sergeant, it's unconfirmed at this time." "Very well, then." Dodds said, satisfied that she could continue Ashdod's cargo run. "Mrs. Tolen, adjust our course toward Procyon. Mr Skidmore, drop us out of hyperspace at Actis V." "Yes, ma'am." Said Flight Officer Corporal Ryan Skidmore. In addition to its UFN budget increasing of late, Vanguard Fleet had become a lot more self-sustaining in recent months - hence the cargo runs in peace time. Dodds asked, "ETA?" "20 minutes, Sergeant." Tolen responded. It had been a while since ECV Ashdod had visited Procyon. Dodds wondered what the Galcom station there was up to these days. ---------- UCV Deathstrike, docked at New Frontier starstation, 1515hrs Insurgent Chief Petty Officer K'tha, an Empirian, quieted his team of engineers and techs who grew frustrated at the Solnar's modifications. "Deal with it, that's an order." He said. "This chief engineer knows how Commander Shingen's ship works better than any of us. So pay attention to him this time!" ---------- Bay 2, Pad Q, 1408hrs Garrison looked deep into Badman's eyes, as a lover would just before the slapping of the face, or the embrace of understanding. "You have my trust, Badman. Do not misplace it." Shingen and Mariko left the UCV-Deathstrike and walked down the gangway and stopped in front of Rick. "Garrison, this is Mariko, my XO. We're ready". "A pleasure, Mariko. All aboard the shuttle." In moments Rick, Sho, Shin, Badman, and Mariko were all in the shuttle and the door closed. They received launch clearance and moved out into open space. "Gentlemen, and Mariko, you'll no doubt want to see how this works." Rick said as he looked up ICV Daedalus' last known position in the Krynon system. "Computer engage!" The journey would take about 2hrs. [/RP]
  21. I got less than a week left before they take it down. Did you get it yet, Kal?
  22. You can find a map here, on my site: http://www.geocities.com/quazar_2004/1_arc...a/appendix.html - until Monday the 26th! That's when Yahoo will take down all of geocities, for good. I have saved everything to my computer except the BCM appendix - because it has too many files. Can someone please pick up these files and host them before they're lost forever?
  23. Admiral ShoHashi's Office, 1348hrs "I have no reason to have any freakin pardon from anyone!" Shingen reduced his stance into combat mode. "This star station has no cause against me, nor does anyone else! I am a free, independent contractor, with no political allegiance to any government!" "Slow down there, Commander. I said alleged, not confirmed. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt." "Sol would mean my death! I can not hit Jupiter without freakin' Galcom craft coming after my ship! How do you propose to get the Deathstrike into Sol space?" "Fair enough, I deduce that you're not interested in helping us. The engine upgrades are still yours if you want them." Shingen sat down again..and thought. "Plus I don't even have a crew." Shingen locked on Garrison; "My crew has been taken by the Gammulans! Have you even considered the freakin' Gammulans?" Shingen laughed.. "You should seriously re-evaulated your threats! The Gams are at full strength and waiting for just this scenario!" "Earth Command is playing down the threat Hernaor Fleet poses to us. But like you, I don't buy it. I will revisit the issue of your crew in time." ShoHashi thought about it a moment and said, "My apologies, but it was never my intent to arrest Commander Shingen, therefore he is free to go. To my knowledge he hasn't committed any crimes against us." "Thank you, Admiral." Rick turned to Shingen and dropped the formality in his tone for a moment, "Commander, I hope you don't still think this meeting is some sort of trap or something. I meant what I said, and Admiral ShoHashi has now confirmed it: You and your ship are free to go right now, if you want." Admiral ShoHashi then turned to look at Shingen and stated, "As an act of good faith, I would like to continue having my people repair your ship. Without the needed repairs, you're kind of stuck here." "I insist on fully compensating you for your parts and labor." [snip] "Gentlemen, if we could discuss the rest of this on the way?" Garrison said as he headed for the door. "I'll need to check my ship first." Shingen said. "If you will let me check my gear and my ship, I'll go with you." Garrison shrugged, "Do what you wish, Commander." ShoHashi waved off the marine escort and everyone vacated his office. While Shingen went off to use the men's room, Garrison, Badman, and ShoHashi moved through New Frontier's Operations section out into the larger promenade, toward the docking pylons. ShoHashi flagged down Crossgrove, "Commander, I have uploaded a message for canshow to the main computer, transmit it asap. I'm going to take these gentlemen to ICV Daedalus. Have your engineers already modified SH-63 as I ordered?" "Yes, sir." Commander Crossgrove replied, joining them on their walk throught the promenade. "The Chief was mighty impressed with the test flight - made it to Alpha Cygini and back without even entering any Gam censor range enroute. She's all ready to go. Lower docking pylon, pad Q. It's right next to UCV Deathstrike, sir" "Very good, carry on, Commander. I shouldn't be gone more than a few days." Badman, who had been silent most of the meeting, said, "What part would you have me play?" Rick smiled at the time traveler, "We will discuss that enroute to Daedalus. Don't let me forget!" ---------- Bay 2, Pad Q - 1406hrs Shingen's light cruiser loomed large and menacing next to the small modified Insurgent shuttle craft. More enigneers began to board her, carrying with them the parts for a whole new reactor core, among other odds and ends - intending to give it a whold new set of engines. ShoHashi's Yeoman stood on the pad waiting for the group. She gave ShoHashi a bag of some of his personal belongings he had requested for this trip. "Thank you, Yeoman. You're dismissed." Rick raised his hand to the group. "Gentlemen, this is where we decide who will go where and on what ship. Please make up your minds. Shingen has no doubt already checked on his ship's repairs." [/RP]
