  1. Same question I will always ask: Will mod tools other than GBS-III lite be made available for UC-AWA? In other words, will tools ever be made available for me to add my own assets to UC? Thx.
  2. A while ago there was talk of including plugins for max or other 3d programs that would enable us incorporate our own stuff into the game. Then it got cancelled due to the issues of earlier this year. Will the GBS III that ships with UCHTL include these capabilities, or will it be the stripped down, script-only GBS? I have purchased BC, BCM, BCMG, and UC all with the hope of adding my own content to a vast and detailed universe unlike any other game. If GBS-III will not include these plugins, what about including them with GBS II for BCMG for those of us who would like to mod the game?
  3. I see that although GBS III will be released for UCHTL, it will be a very "stripped down" version which will only include script editors. It was mentioned that this is to prevent cheating on multiplayer games, as the full GBS package does not discriminate between single and multiplayer mods. That makes sense. What I am wondering is, if we cannot add models to UC/UCHTL, would it be possible to release the "full" version of GBS II (with the .3d plugins for 3ds max), so that people inclined to add their own assets to BCMG may finally do so? (At our own risk, of course)
  4. The BCStudio documentation that comes with GBS-II mentions the max to 3d plugins. Are these going to be made available?
  5. Can someone tell me how to download this file? I have logged into the registered users login page, but see no link to the file.
  6. I was under the impression that GBS III is a no go. Are you all beta testers?
  7. I just got my copy, and spent all night getting my arse kicked : ) This game certainly lives up to my hopes and expectations, thanks DS! I have been keeping an eye on the forums and I understand the current situation with respect to the release of the game, how does this impact the release of GBS 3, etc? Is that still a go?
  8. One more question, The inclusion of plugins for 3DS MAX, Caligari's Gamespace, and Milkshape are all very much appreciated, and will all be extremely useful. It's obvious that you've already gone 'above and beyond' for aspiring UC modders, so I don't want to seem unappreciative or greedy when I ask: Will there also be plugins for GMax (The free game oriented version of 3DS MAX)?
  9. quote:Originally posted by SC: (We will be able to... ) "...Create new planet mzones/scenes for existing planets Create new (or revise existing) 3D models (e.g. ships, characters etc" quote:Originally posted by SC: You can't change the name of the univere entities (e.g. region, moon, planet etc) because they are part of the world dataset. I am not going to release the tools needed to modify and/or create this dataset for a lot of reasons. Don't ask. Don't plead. Don't cuss. I never have and never will do it. Period. 3D world entities (stations etc) are not part of the world dataset. They are scripted. So, if you want to change the location of a station, you can. The world dataset consists only of the space/planet region data and jump anomalies only. Nothing else. This means that anything added to that dataset (e.g. stations, ships etc) has to be scripted - which GBS3 allows. But go messing around in the system scripts (i.e. change the default location of any assets (e.g. stations, ODS systems etc), you'll soon regret it. I have been studying GBS I in an attempt to prepare for GBS III. I came across documentation for an unreleased tool called "Mapedit". I gather that it was not released because it changes the world dataset, is that right? Is this one of the tools you were referring to in the above quote, or will we have access to it eventually? Also, per the above quote, does this mean for example that I could model and introduce an alien city to a planet by setting it up as a mzone or scene? I gather that this would not be construed as editing the world dataset, but am I correct? Finally, you mention in the first sentence of the second paragraph that, because 3D world entities (like stations) are scripted, it will be possible to move them. But in the next couple of lines, you mention that messing around with system scripts (ie changing the default location of stations, etc) will probably get us into trouble. So can we move stations or not? I understand that I should probably wait for the GBS III documentation, but any info that you are willing to divulge would be most appreciated. Thanks again, z

  12. Here is a little Gamespot Article about the situation. Seems a little propagandist. Also, as Quoted by SC: quote: This is a quick update. Its not looking good and DC have advised that the game is going to replication tomorrow, with or without the RC2 build. This was after I told them this morning that we should probably delay the game until January. I gather from this statement that IceBladeTSW may be correct, and the vote is now moot? Either way, this game is obviously eagerly anticipated by many, and I am sure neither SC nor DC need to worry, even if it does ship early with bugs. They all do. I for one can't wait to play this game.

  14. My vote: SHIP IT. I have only recently joined this forum, but I have been playing BCM and BCMG for quite some time. I greatly appreciate your commitment to quality, but I am eagerly anticipating the release of this game. Downloading patches is commonplace in the industry, every major game requires them, and people have come to expect it. Afterall, with a program as complex and intricate as UC will be, it would be miraculous if it was released error free. Not to be negative, but I imagine that even if you fix all of the issues outlined in the RC version control file, I am sure that it is likely that other issues exist that currently remain undetected and will require patching anyways. I am not questioning your team's skills (which are great), it's just a question of probability with a project this size, as I'm sure you know well. I am for shipping it now as is, patching it later. Take advantage of a holiday release for your company, and whet our appetites. Thanks for asking.
