  1. Almostpilot, your thread was deleted because the name of the game wasn't in the title subject of the thread. You were given a warning to adjust but apparently you were too late

By the way, the game is called "Tomorrow War" or "The War Tomorrow". Seems the game has two names at the moment. It's very nice but I doubt we will ever get to see an English version in Europe and the U.S. The website doesn't even have an English section.

Hint: I used Altavista Bablefish to translate Russian text on the Zavtravoina website to learn more about the game.

  2. A Czech guy on the Armed Assault forums posted some scans from a magazine containing new info and screenshots!

They even posted a (Czech unfortunately) movie!! The community is going crazy over there; they can't wait any longer and neither can I !

I guess you're right, Mordax Blyrr, those screens are definitely getting better. Just look at the ingame footage, it's awesome. It DOES look better when it moves.

    Enjoy!

BTW. You need a DVD plugin for the trailer.

  3. After weeks of silence, BIS have shed some light on the progress of Armed Assault:

    http://www.bistudio.com/presspages/ArmA_Progress_Update.html

New screenshots were added as well as some additional info on the features and releasedate.

I have been a HUGE Operation Flashpoint fan for years now and I have been eagerly awaiting any news regarding Armed Assault. Now that these new screens have been released, I'm happy to know they are still working on releasing the game but I unfortunately must say I'm not too impressed with these screens. Perhaps it looks better when it moves but I think the original Flashpoint had a more "natural looking" environment. Especially the watereffects in the second screenshot look weird. The models have definitely improved though.

I hope I'm mistaken and this will become a superb sequel/update. Gameplay has always been great in the original game and BIS promises to make that even better in Armed Assault.

BTW..., Does anybody have news regarding the Operation Flashpoint-killer "Enemy in Sight"???

    and:

Gotta keep an eye out for that one too!

  4. The game runs pretty good on my system. Especially when you let the game auto-detect the best graphicsettings everything runs smooth with no stuttering at all.

Only when I turn on the soft shadows and volumetric lighting the game tends to stutter once every 5 minutes. The game still runs fluid with all options maxed out, but when a new scripted event is being loaded or when you enter a new sector in a level, I get 3 fps or so for about 10 to 15 seconds. Then, when it's loaded, the game runs flawlessly again. I also suspect the shadows are being pre-loaded. Shadows and soft shadows are the most demanding graphic settings in this game.

I don't think 8MB cache on a harddrive will solve the problem. I have a 16MB cache SATA HDD myself and run a clean Windows installation with 1GB of dualchannel RAM on a Asus A8N SLI mainboard with an AMD 64 3500+ CPU and a GeForce 6800 256MB card. There are just a few settings that cause these hiccups, namely volumetric lighting and soft shadows. If you don't want the hiccups, turn those options off, otherwise, learn to live with it or buy yourself 2 7800 cards in a SLI setup or next-gen ATI cards in a crossfire setup. I like the graphics so much, I leave them maxed out and take the stuttering every 5 minutes or so for what it is.

I think it's a fun game! And usually, I don't even like linear, scripted FPS games...

  5. Yeah, Noctis rocks. I've been following the development of Noctis V for a while now but somehow I feel it will never beat the good ol' Noctis IV.

    Has "Zetadeck" been mentioned?

And what about "Precursors"? Although Deep Shadows isn't really a small developer, it ain't big either.

I can also kinda recommend the "Unistellar Spacesim". I've tried this one a few weeks ago. It's very hard to land on a planet but from orbit, you can actually see thunderstorms on a planet. You can also settle down on a planet, buy land and stuff. It's far from finished but very nice for a freebee.

    Download it here:

And don't forget to apply the latest patch, it adds a 3d cockpit. I don't know the link but there are usually a few players online who can supply the link. Have fun!

  6. I just read an article "secrets revealed". It's got an interesting preview with new screenshots regarding "Armed Assault" (basically Operation Flashpoint 1 and a half). A few things are cleared up about "Game 2" as well. Both games will be brilliant I think!

    You can read it here:

Put on your glasses or zoom in.

  7. It seems an english version is still being planned for release. I've been quite active on the Parkan 2 forum since I first heard of the game about a year ago (Parkan 2 I mean, Parkan 1 I knew for a long time but haven't played it until I recently downloaded it from the links on the forum). A few weeks ago, a Nikita producer named "Alhok" on the forums claimed Parkan 2 will still be released outside of Russia in different languages. Since the game has been released in Russia I've asked for Russian players to post some ingame movies on the net but haven't seen it happen yet. Perhaps it's not even legal...I don't know. Anyway, a lot of people don't seem to like it but there are also a lot of folks on the Parkan 2 forums who claim the game is brilliant. I dunno...I have to see it with my own eyes.

  8. I used to be a great FPS shooter fan, but it's all the same now. You just go through one linear level to end up in the next linear level. A lot of people feel this way but most gamedevelopers refuse to change the gameplay because they're afraid the game won't sell then. Frankly, I can't blame them, it's a tough business.

Lucky for us, there are still some developers working on ambitious non-linear titles, like Derek Smart even if they are taking risks. I can't wait until Battlecruiser Next Gen, I guess it will be the game of my dreams. In the meantime, I'm playing Boiling Point Road to Hell. It's a very buggy game but it's also very entertaining! A huge world to explore, with lot's of RPG elements, NPC's to talk to, vehicles to drive or fly, real time day/night cycle, weathereffects and more! I think the biggest key to succes for a game is to feature a HUGE seamless world, the ability to go up in experience and the ability to buy stuff. Having to save money for a weapon or item you really want adds something to a game, at least, that's my humble opinion. Furthermore, I really love atmosphere in a game. I think Universal Combat was definately a step in the right direction, I liked it very much.

Man, you explore a planet in a shuttle while your commandcraft hangs in orbit. That's the way it should be in a game! Again, I can't wait to play Battlecruiser Next Gen.

  9. Battlecruiser Next Gen...my life is complete. Thank you very much SC and take your time developing and perfecting it. That reality engine looks so darn good! It should be THE game I always wanted.

Anyway, I guess I will first have plenty of fun playing UCAWA!

  10. I can't believe people can be so incredibly sick and twisted. I just browsed through those sites with anti-Derek Smart posts and after 10 seconds I'd seen enough. Reading these Bill and Louis' twisted posts makes my stomach turn around, especially one day before Christmas. If they were only kids perhaps I might have understood this kind of behaviour but from 2 grown ups! They obviously must have had a very bad childhood. Perhaps they do things like this out of revenge for being born or something; that seems to be the motive of a lot of criminals nowadays. I feel sorry for them in some way...

Apart from that, I think guys like them belong in jail. Harassing people on the internet is a crime and should be dealt with accordingly!

  11. I had been waiting for Freelancer to arrive for about 5 years and when it finally did I was very disappointed. I had put all my hope and expectation on it since I really wanted a great all in one spacesimulator. Something like Elite, I-War, Freespace and Battlecruiser in one game. Unfortunately it didn't turn out well. The game's very dull and linear. A developer with such an enormous budget should have made a game better than any of the games named above but they didn't. If I were you Smart, I would be really proud of having made a game that's far better than the long awaited Freelancer. Let's hope Freelancer 2 will be a lot better than it's prequel. But at least it's good to know they are working on part 2.

  12. Hmmm...yeah, I get your point. I thought about it this way myself too and I guess you're right. But the fact that you are unable to move your gun, head and body all in a different direction is still unrealistic. In real life, you do have the ability (under most circumstances and if you're healthy enough) to move those parts of your body independently. But I agree that, for a military game, it's not so unrealistic at all to have your gunsight slaved to your eyeview. I find it difficult to choose which controls I prefer. Ah, what the heck, I will be happy with the controls as long I'll be able to hit my foes. I will adapt!

  13. Alright, I'm sorry for posting after the discussion is more or less over, but that's because I'm new here and would like to share my opinion on this POV thing.

I understand the whole issue completely; in "normal" (or "simplified") fps games, the gun is more or less slaved to your eye view. You can't look towards an object without pointing your gun to it. This also means that, for instance, if some superior officer in a shooter game is talking to you and you are looking at him, you automatically point your weapon at his forehead

It's very unrealistic but unfortunately also the easiest way for players to control their character, aiming their weapon and hitting their target. I like the way BCM handled this problem. It was a bit strange to get used to their solution but it works pretty stable for me now. But somehow it still doesn't feel natural and I don't think you can get it any better. What you actually need is not one keyboard and one mouse to do the trick, but one keyboard (for bodymovement), two mice (one for moving your head and one for pointing your gun) and thus three arms. There might be a more simple approach and that would be one keyboard, one mouse and one headtracking device (if that would be technically possible that is, because I am not sure a pc allows for more than one pointing device, but I believe I once read something about such a headtracking thing). Does everybody still follow me? Okay, then at least you know what I think is true: that modern pc inputdevices can't do it any more realistic than the way it is already implemented in BCM (unless you posess a virtual headtracking helmet thing) Or am I wrong?

  14. Hello everybody,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Gerard and I'm from Holland, so excuse my possible writing errors. I'm a newbie here but I've been a long time fan of the Battlecruiser series. That's that, now about that new movie.

It looks awesome! All Battlecruiser games were great but UC is really gonna rock. It's the first Battlecruiser game with graphics as good as the superb gameplay! I really like those pixelshader effects. Too bad I don't have a pixelshader videocard yet, but I will get one soon.
