  1. I have added 2 new albems to UC's list. Daft Punk's Discovery (or as I call it Disco Very) and the Homeworld Soundtrack (found a copy in a dark forgotten corner of my local music store)
  2. One thing I was wondering. Do you only have to Prep them once? Or every time after they have been off duty. What I did when I first start wes send them all to be preped. Then send 1/2 on station (and 1/2 of those then went searching) and send the other 1/2 off duty again.
  3. The music that came with UC was good. But I have currently replaced them with soundtracks from two TV shows/movies. I have the Babylon 5 Soundtracks 1 & 2 ('messages from earth') the music seems to match the feel of UC (mainly since the series has a lot of music for the space battles) Another one added is the soundtracks from Cowboy Bebop (including the movie). At first the mix of Jazz and blues seems strange for space combat. But after seeing the series and their use in the combat scnees it has grown on my. Just wondering if anyone alse has replaced/added music that matched the feel of the game.
  4. *rubs head from GreyDog's slap* ouch! No I am not lazy, I did do a search. but after scanning the 220 odd posts. All of them talked about what Resnig dose but not WHO he is. Now I know who he is, I never noticed him doing anything out of the norm. I must be lucky and got one that flunked Resnig school.
  5. I know I will get a 100 head slaps from everyone on theis forum. But who IS Resnig? (I only had BCMG for 2 months and UC for a month)
  6. I had that in UC as well (RC4) I arrived at Wraith station, only to find it disabled, with full shields and hull. And the station looked like is was distroyed (just the station's framework) Or was it distroyed and it is being rebuilt?
  7. At the time I couldn't think of a ship name so I used the first thing that came into my head 'Hammer Of God' I was thinking of changing it but the crew have grown to love it, ss they now call the ship 'The HOG'
  8. What song is this? Who is that artist? Sorry I am from a hick backwater country
  9. I used Acrobat's Web capture to make the appendix for my iPAQ. I now have that, the manual and a help guide I got off the net all in my 'Tricoder' hehehe no more ALT-TAB for me
  10. *Humpf* you should try my local EB. They just looked blankly at me and said, "Universal Combat?... never heard of it. Is it a new game or a old game." Other game stores I went to knew or heard of it but said that its not released in australia yet.
  11. I got bored watching the UPS tracking of my copy of UC (it's somewhere in Sydney now but will take another two days *sob* to get here). So have been playing BCMG again, but I hated going back and forwards between the game and the manual/appendix. So I tried to import the PDF manual to my iPAQ. But Acrobat 'spat the dummy' becouse on how it was formated. So I spent today reediting the file (taking out the print marks and croping the pages) I now have a nice manual in my hands while playing. I have also converted the appendix into PDF as well.
  12. I love a Tooheys Extra Dry, very nice.. BTW: That is an Australian Beer
  13. Doh! Sorry, I had two forums windows open and I wrote in the wrong one hehehehe BTW: If you are wondering it was http://www.3000ad.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?u...2989;p=1#000035
  14. I love a Tooheys Extra Dry, very nice.. BTW: That is an Australian Beer
  15. I had the same thing. Every station I went to was at -1. but that was a while ago on my friends copy. Mine is in transit somewhere in the US so I'll see if it happens when I get it.
  16. Thats what I was thinking. Plus Intruders would target them, forceing you to send troops to guard the guests etc....
  17. After reading all about GBS III. I was windering is editing Missions etc... now dead for UC? Do we need GBS III? I mean maybe someone could work out the scripting of missions and make their own editor (Not me as I only know basic C++, and that was 5 years ago hehehe). I remember back to the days of Doom, when the first WAD editor came out. Before then editing games was almost unheard of. Thanks to that peogram people finally was able to make their own maps, missions etc... the list was endless Ever since then almost ever game has been modded, officialy or unofficialy. Some games came with their own editor, or were designed to be have mods. Look at the top games around. The Sims... almost everything could be changed. Half Life, where mods use was built in and some mods has themself been sold as standalone games (Counter Strike). Every Doom/Quake/UT, MS Fligh Sim wouldn't be where it is now becouse of mods A lot of other games has had mods made for them using home made tools... So I just wondering and hope that someone could be able to workout how the missions are designed. As such a tool can only increase the playableity (spelling is wrong I know hehehe) and enjoyment of UC Just an idea. Any thoughts? (P.S. My copy was *FINALLY* shipped from EB. Dose anyone know if the packages are tracked when they go overseas?)
  18. Hehehe sounds like the book 2061 (the sequal to 2001 and 2010. One of the plots was about such a diamond...
  19. When I played my friends UC I noticed this. But if you select to view your asset then go back to view yourself it then shows the female version.
  20. Just d/l it this morning and viewed it. I am very VERY impressed. I loved the use of the light flare effect as a type of dissolve effect. Also haveint the centre of the action in the right hand corner was interesting. The choise of music was very good too. At first I have shosen just plain BG music, but now I am rethinking and going through my collection now for a better song. I with I can get started on mine (but EB is stuffing around with my credit card, wanting more info etc... *sigh*) my home equipment is ready and waiting hehehehe I even got a couple of blank DV tapes for it. Anyway, thanks for *hopefully* inspiring others to make videos on UC as well.
  21. Hehehe I haven't desided on music for mine yet. Was thinking of something like Daft Punk again (the music from the Trainz video is from their album Discovery') Or maybe some ELO... depends on what vision I can get (I haven' got the hand of baing on the planet, tanks, gunships walking etc...)
  22. When I get my hands on my ccopy of UC I will also make a video (Being a video editer at a TV station helps hhehehehe) My process involves recording footage to DV (via the svideo-out on my gfx card) then edit the footage in my NLE. I have already made a video for another game I love called Trainz 2004 http://members.iinet.net.au/~nakaleen/vide...%20Demo%202.avi It is in Divx 5 format (45 min worth of wild footage was used to make this video hehehee)
  23. After playing BCMG and my friend's UC (Still trying to get mine from EB) I have noticed a couple of things that I have been wondering about. First, Castes. Some I can see how they work (trade, police etc..) but others like Planet Support (shuttle) and Paramedics. Can you transport wounded people as a Paramedic? Besides commanding a unarmed transport I cxan see the usefullness. But if it can do extra stuff then I would be very keen to try it. Second, Guests. WHen I see the roster, There is a guest list....? Where can you get guests. Is it like in Frontier wher you can transport people for money? The BCMG manual only has this about guests.... 'From time to time you will bring diplomats, traders, survivors, dignitaries, etc, on-board your ship. These people are classified as guests and should be treated with the utmost respect. Guests are never trouble for you so your primary task is to keep them alive until you get them to their destination or until they leave your ship by other means.' How can I get them on borad? I haven't played anything other then Roam. Is it possable to get guests in Roam mode? Other then those, UC and BSMG which Istill play on my compouter (untill EB finally sends me my UC hehehe) Is one hell of a game. THe only game that tried to do what Elite/Frontier couldn't.
  24. Just looked in the music dir (and replayed the music) The Aliens'ish music I was talking about is called 'hostile_intent.mp3' and the Babylon 5'ish is called 'dimensions.mp3' Not that is very bad or wrong, the music suites UC (infact I am converting my B5 cd's to MP3's to I can use it in UC whenI get it)
  25. Just been playing UC at my friends place (Mine is on order from the Us via EB) One thing I really liked about the game so far is the music. I noticed once track sounded very Babylon 5'ish while another sounded very Aliens'ish. Kodos to the music department Just a side note, is it possible to put in your own music like BCMG (although some mp3's I used seem to hang or stop playing in BCMG)
