  1. My high carbon steel full tang, Windlass Steelcrafts Maciejowski "Warbrand" sword. I paid extra for the sharpening service, and it cuts through beach mats with ease (which is more than can be said for my stainless full tang katana). The new set of high quality Kendo armor I am gradually putting together to replace my aging cheap set. So far just it's just the Tare but I would like to get new kote soon (holes are forming in the palm leathers). I have been taking Kendo for about five years now and currently hold the rank of Nikkyu (brown belt as I recall, we don't actually wear colored belts in Kendo). quote:I always want to pick it up and shadow slice hehe (and I do) its great maybe i should join a kendo class or something XOR, in Kendo we call striking at the air Suburi if you want to know. Take a good look around, there may be a class near you (though they do tend to be spread pretty thin, I only know of a couple in my entire state, so good luck searching for one).
  2. I might suggest a mix of rums: Meyer's Dark (if you really want that "RUM!" flavor), Captain Morgan's Spiced, and a Coconut rum of some kind (Malibu or Coco Ribe or maybe Parrot bay?). However, I do not think that there is any way you could go wrong with just Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, it has some of its own vanilla flavor, and it has a bit more punch than the other flavored rums like Coconut or Vanilla, (70 proof versus 40 proof). If you are particularly nuts, you could even set it on fire with some Bacardi 151 (yes that's proof kids!), just be VERY VERY VERY CAREFUL. These are mainly just suggestions of course, I have not tried them out yet.
  3. For those of you who have gone to the trouble of ripping mp3s (from your private CD collections of course ) that will work in UC, what is in your in game playlist (other than the original game music)? Here is mine: The entire Dune Original Score (the longer soundtrack from the 1984 movie, some of Toto's best stuff, a hard CD to find too) Pink Floyd: Learning to fly, Time, Shine on you Crazy Diamond Led Zeppelin: Communications Breakdown, The Immigrant Song, Kashmir, Whole Lotta Love, Dazed and Confused Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody, The Prophet's Song Sting: Every Breath You Take (hilarious to hear while watching shuttles drop off drones in tacops) ZZTOP: LaGrange Kansas: Point of No Return Some selected songs from all three LOTR soundtracks The Last Samurai soundtrack
  4. Utility employees should be using proper lockout/tagout procedure to isolate what they are working on. Getting shocked would be a danger in any case, if the line suddenly went live when they were working on it in normal situations. Check this out.
  5. You have the bright idea of locking a tractor beam on a fully live (and armed) CC in the middle of a battle, thinking that you can hold the damn thing still while your turrets blow it up.
  6. You would WANT to be hooked up to the grid. As far as I know, the power company is legally required to pay you if put more power into the grid than you use (running the meter backwards, in other words). That is one of my dad's ideas, to set up a whole bunch of little windmills and live off of the money that they would make, feeding power back into the grid.
  7. Here is my theory: Evidently the command crew comes standard with the ships. All of the races use the same ships, (Stormcarrier excluded) so naturally they would all use the same cloned command crews to fly them. Why would they risk their own people when they can just use some cheap, stupid, human clones, (ie Resnig) to fly their ships. It is a "clone war" of sorts. All of the "real" people are sitting around sipping on mai-thais in underground bunkers just watching the show. Just think, every time you blow up an enemy ship, you are ridding the universe of another Resnig.
  8. I have OP2, It has been a long time since I have played it though. It is one of very few games that I have actually played online (does anybody remember WON?). I liked Eden the best (Eden had the most powerful weapons).
  9. Maybe even get some extra experience points for capturing diplomats on enemy stations. How about some more enlisted personnel: a cook and and a couple of messcranks to run the galley, some guys to clean the toilets and polish the brasswork and such, and some nonqual puke to polish Resnig's shoes and bring him coffee.
  10. Gameplay tips for those bored with Freelancer after the story is over: After finishing the storyline you can go anywhere you want, (you do not get full jump access everywhere until the storyline is over, also you don't get shot at by military ships as much anymore). What I like to do after the storyline is over is to do long haul cargo runs that cross the entire map, buying something at the absolute cheapest place to get it, and sell it at the place that pays the absolute most for it, (since you do get that lovely little price list from all of the bases you have visited). These can be quite entertaining and far more lucrative than playing the very formulaic and repetitive "missions" over and over and over again. Alien Microbes and Alien Artifacts can be very entertaining to run. Of course it would be even more entertaining to try this activity in UC also, but you would have to really keep track of prices, and visit a LOT of bases.
  11. Darn, I knew Friday 13th would jinx me somehow. Anyway, at least there is now a worthy place to chuck that Packard Bell, that has been stinking up my shed for the last six or seven years.
  12. Or... how to make oil from anything that is not radioactive. Human waste, medical waste, used diapers, refrigerators, chicken guts, anything. And it kills pathogens and diseases at the same time, including BSE. take a look.

  14. I just tried the 53.06 drivers, no dice, I still have black sky, I am downloading 53.04 but I probably won't get around to trying it out until tomorrow. The GeForce FX supports more advanced shaders than the GeForce 4 as I recall, so my experience with the drivers might be a bit different from yours. The prepatch version of the game worked fine with 53.03, I wonder what changed.
  15. I have had the current drivers, 53.03, for a couple of months now, they were released on my birthday, December 9th, and there have been no new releases as yet since then (maybe a beta but no new WHQL drivers). I already had these drivers before installing the release version of the game. I backed up uc.exe and put in the new file, but the sky is still black and the water is still weird.
  16. I work in manufacturing, but I am going back to school to learn more computer stuff. I would also like to set-up a blade forge for making knives and swords. I live in Crimora(very small town) Virginia I am 23 I'm single and looking, no kids I practice Kendo (Japanese fencing, basically beating people with bamboo swords while wearing armor), I like to play games (computer and tabletop, Though I have not bought a game console since the original Nintendo), I like to read Sci-fi and fantasy books as well as books on swordfighting and making blades and armor. I play tuba in the Stonewall Brigade Band (in continuous operation since 1855, when it was called the Mountain Saxhorn Band, but I could go on and on about that). Any other horn players on the boards? We could start a "Battlecruiser Band"
  17. I have some more screenshots showing a strange whiteout and flicker effect on the water, the cloud pane is turned off in these, but I have seen this effect with the cloud pane on as well.
  18. Here are the screenshots prepatch and postpatch.
  19. I just removed the game and reinstalled it without installing the patch and the sky looks fine (assuming it should be sort of a marble grey type color), Planetary support pilot (Starlance) at the default base on Earth, as before.
  20. I also have black sky, starting out on Earth as a planetary support pilot at the default base location. The sky sometimes completely whites out when over water at low altitude also (pixel shader bug maybe?), I am also using 53.03 WHQL drivers for my GeForce 4 Ti 4400. The sky looked fine before the patch.
  21. I may be weird, but I still like to play Freelancer, even after I beat it. ***Warning I am about to go off on a weird tangent*** One thing I would like to see in a game, though it may not be technically feasible, is the ability to have ships, weapons, vehicles, buildings, and even characters composed of interchangable modules. The ability to construct entire ships or stations from nothing but junk parts (where's that spanner Chewie?), or to have to get prosthetic or mechanical limbs when your character gets messed up in combat. More dynamic worlds would be nice, something that incorporates more game genres. Factions controlled by ai playing a game akin to Alpha Centauri or Masters of Orion, that calculate a turn every eight game hours, would generate the game world, borders would shift, technologies would be developed and fielded. If you manage to reach a position of power, you too could take part in the empire building aspect of the game.
  22. Speaking of KFC, what does the HF have to be before a crew member actually gets hungry enough to eat one of those funny tasting nutripaks? [ 02-08-2004, 08:06 PM: Message edited by: Gol_Stoan ]
  23. Ah, but poisons are not being considered to be WMDs by the media, the ricin found in DC was not considered to be a WMD, just a very deadly poison.
  24. quote: some1 forgot Doom 3... That would depend on whether anybody really expected it to be out before Christmas, I know I sure didn't. And I don't really care much about Doom 3 anyway, I am still waiting for Halflife 2 to come out in July (yes July, it got bumped back again).
  25. There are always Neutron bombs, (now there's a republican weapon) Kills all the people but leaves the real estate intact.
