  1. Well I signed up and joined the NC's. They seem so much like Insurgents, I just had to go that route. Very, cool game once you figure out how not to dies so often. Anyway, I'll probably see a few of you around. I'm usually on the Emerald server as Gum.
  2. There is definately something wrong with hyperjumps in MP. Its almost like the game goes out of sync when someone jumps. Possibly because of the different connection speeds of those playing??? I have seen many occasions where you have completed a jump and everyone else is asking you if you are still in hyper. I also came out of hyper and shot a few missile rounds at Shohashi. The impacts registered on the shield but no damage registered at all. A few seconds later he was totally gone as he had apparently made a jump and was now at other end of his jump and nowhere near me. I have also experienced CTD's or "server has disconnected" messages when I've entered a region where another player is.
  3. I'm here too!!! So glad to finally see you guys in the game!!
  4. I haven't seen it yet, but a few of my friends friends have. They were not that impressed by it and suggested to wait until the crowds die down.
  5. I'm here lurking. BCMG has brought me out of the shadows though!

  7. Where might I find the entry point for the... "One new small sized galaxy containing 12 space regions, 12 planetary regions, 272 planetary mission zones and 1,086 planetary areas of interest (scenes)." I'd like to give it a look but I have limited time for searching right now.
  8. I bought mine at ebgames.com. It arrived yesterday!! The box looks awesome and I love the nice thick manual. Great job!
  9. Whoot!!!! Just got a confirmation email from EB games... BCM Gold is in the mail!!!!! I should get it Monday! SCHWEETTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Well, I turn the big "40" tomorrow and I know of a certain Supreme Commander who will do the same on Friday. Just thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention!!! Any plans for the big day Derek?? I haven't made any, but I suspect my better half is cooking up something.
  11. The box does look cool!! Got mine on pre-order at ebgames so it shouldn't be too long.
  12. Hey, maybe some of the out spoken anti-war Hollywood celebrities like Janeane Godawfullhoe can volunteer for human shield duty.
  13. Well I've played it a bit more.. The graphics, interface and overall polish are excellent. The game play is the same old "get a mission kill the enemies get a reward" formula. I tried to get a stick working by mapping the keys to the axis and buttons to the stick but the control isn't fine enough to effectively shoot anything. However, the mouse flight interface isn't that bad and actually kind of grows on you after a while. I guess if you are looking for a remake of Privateer with very nice graphics and the same type of gameplay then you'll like Freelancer.
  14. http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/internet/03/0...cord/index.html "Offering a glimpse of a faster digital future, researchers announced they have set a new Internet speed record. Scientists at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center used fiber-optic cables to transfer 6.7 gigabytes of data -- the equivalent of two DVD movies -- across 6,800 miles in less than a minute. The center is a national laboratory operated by Stanford University for the U.S. Department of Energy. Pushing the tech envelope The team was able to transfer uncompressed data at 923 megabits per second for 58 seconds from Sunnyvale, California, to Amsterdam, Netherlands. That's about 3,500 times faster than a typical Internet broadband connection. "
  15. I got it last night but only had enough time to load it up and play one mission. So far it looks look a pretty good sequel to Privateer. The graphics look nice and I really liked the debris field I flew through. Pretty cool to actually have to dodge the bits of floating debris. I'm definately going to have to find a better control scheme though. I just hate that you can't use a flightstick. I was weaned on flightsim type games using a stick and there's no going back now. I think my logitech flightstick software will do the job though. I'll report back when I've had sometime to play it a bit to get a feel for it.
  16. OMG!!! These GFFX pics are so funny!!!!!!!!! ROTFLMAO!!!!! http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4063
  17. Anand's review is much better IMO. They included screenshots and IQ comparisons and did most of their benchmarking using AA and AF. Anyone buying a videocard these days is definately going to crank up the AA and AF. There is just no reason not to anymore. Tom's is obviously very biased towards Nvidia. Overall I think the GFFX has a couple BIG problems. Heat and noise. The speed is not bad for beta drivers but not nearly as good as what I expected from all the hype. The measures they had to go through to get it that fast is rediculous. The fan is just too big and noisy and my computer has quite enough heat already. Looks like ATI made the right choices with their 256 bit memory bus and staying at .15 for one more cycle.
  18. The constant switching from the battle was a bit distracting, but it was also very much like how the books were switching between the different sets of characters. Just when you really get into what the characters are doing they switch to the others. I have a feeling that they ended it when they did to beef up the last film a bit. The last book is the shortest and I doubt they will go into all the detail of what happens to each character after the ring is destroyed. This way there is more left for the last film. Sigh... so another 6 months or so for the DVD's and another year for the Return of the King. I can't wait!!! Gimli was just too funny through the whole film. "Don't tell the elf... " indeed!
  19. I just got back from it as well. 10/10 from me! I loved every minute of it. The ents were especially cool and the battles were incredible!
  20. quote: Originally posted by rtoolooze: [QB] O I'm sure if you had lived in the tenth century or so, you would have believed that the earth was flat. Would that make it the truth? Nope. In fact, the scriptures at Job 26:7 speaks of God as "hanging the earth upon nothing", and at Isa 40:22 "There is one who is dwelling above the circle of the earth". The word "circle" in the Hebrew text meaning sphere. So a sphere hanging upon nothing is a very accurate discription of our earth, don't you think? [QB] heh, funny you should mention that. Had you believed that the world was a sphere at THAT time, you would have been persecuted for heracy. Even centuries later Galileo was for similar beliefs.
  21. quote: Originally posted by rtoolooze: "Better yet, prove that ANY of them were correct!" Hmmm... there are so many prophecy's that were recorded in the Bible that came true, that its hard to count them all. Some are easy to prove. An example, God prophesied that the Medes and the Persians would be the ones to conquer Babylon, even naming the individual by name, Cyrus, almost 200 years before it happened. He even went so far as to say the doors would be open to him when he invaded. The night Babylon fell they were having a party, and they left the gates unlocked, so that Cyrus came right on in.(Isa 44:26-45:7) Gods people (the Jews) had been in captivity in Babylon some seventy years since God had allowed the Babylonians to destroy Jerusalem in 607 B.C. for their unfaithfulness. Now it was time for them to return to their homeland to rebuild their city and the Temple to restore true worship, and God used Cyrus to do just that. After he conquered Babylon, he freed the Jews so they could return home. This prophesy had to come true so that by the time Jesus appeared on the scene, all the prophesies concerning him would have come true. Otherwise there would of been no Jerusalem or Jewish nation, exept the slaves in Babylon. Another good example is one that occured just after that one. Anyone know who conqured the Persians to become the fifth world power? Thats right, Alexander the Great. The prophecy regarding him can be found in (Daniel 8:5,7,20,21) An interesting side note to this prophecy is one concerning the city of Tyre. Eze 26:4,12 says, " And your [Tyre's] dust they will place in the very midst of the water." In July of 332 B.C, after Alexander defeated the Persians first at the Granicus river, then on the plains of Issus, (before his famous victory at Gaugamela) he came up against the city of Tyre. He then used the rubble of the old mainland city, (which Neduchadnezzar of Babylon destroyed years before) and built a causeway to the island city, which he destroyed. The prophesy also said his life would be cut short, which it was, that four horns would come up after him, but not with his power, (four of his generals split the kingdom), and that "not to his posterity" would his empire be left. So it was that all of Alexander's family and heirs were done away with after his death. (The ambitious Cassander killed both Roxana, his wife, and his son, also named Alexander. Also Heracles, his illegitimate son by Barsine, were also killed) So yes, the Bible was written by men, except they were "Inspired by God to do so", and not of their own accord. Anyway, something to chew on. None of the above proves anything though. Its all written in general terms that can be interpreted any number of ways. " And your dust they will place in the very midst of the water. That could mean almost anything?? From Tyre's ashes being spread on a lake... to them building a a bridge to a new city using the rubble of the old. sigh... well enough of this. I leave this thread with a quote from Carl Sagan... "Those afraid of the universe as it really is, those who pretend to non-existent knowledge and envision a Cosmos centered on human beings will prefer the fleeting comforts of superstition. They avoid rather than confront the world. But those with the courage to explore the weave and structure of the Cosmos, even where it differs profoundly from their wishes and prejudices, will penetrate its deepest mysteries." -Carl Sagan
  22. quote: Originally posted by Kiran: Here's my challenge to you Jaguar, get a bible and research the prophecies of the old testament, the prophecies that Christ made and the book of Revelations. Then research history from the time period of the old testament until today and prove to us that all the prophecies were wrong. Better yet, prove that ANY of them were correct! Its like an old psychic trick, you can make any statement appear to mean anything you want by the way you twist the meanings around. Also for those you think you CAN prove to be correct, don't you think it would be in the best interest of the parties claiming to know future prophecies to make sure that some of them happen, to lend more creedence to what doctrine they are trying to promote? "fear of reprisal is an excellent imperial control." heh, religion has the ultimate "fear of reprisal" with no chance of it ever being disproven. Everyone who REALLY knows what happens to us when we die is already dead. Do as our religion says or you will burn in hell for all eternity... pretty scary stuff My only problem with religion comes when people use it to take advantage of others or when people decide that their religion is the "right" one and others are wrong. That's when tempers flair and you end up with problems like in the mideast.

My brother is a Pagan Priest. Myself, I'm agnostic. I don't beleive anyone really knows(would explain all the mysteries huh) but I like to think about it.
