  1. I think I can be there as long as everything's pretty punctual. I've got a lot of grading in front of me this weekend.
  2. He needs to be bigger than that. Chris Reeve wasn't the biggest guy, but he had the right proportions; this guy looks more like a swimmer than a superhero.
  3. Congratulations Marc! Hold our standard high, and the next round's on me!
  4. Good idea. CIOPS team members, you up to a match with Spectre next weekend? That way we can at least get one match in before the month's out, and I imagine that's not too bad given that we only just got our second team organized in the middle of the month. Sound off commanders, Team CIOPS is generally composed of people from the United States timezones, and is organized as such to facilitate practices and matches. Hopefully then we can all get coordinated easily and get ISS' second team off to a good start! Is Jack Decker interested in joining Team CIOPS at GALCOM.net?
  5. quote:Originally posted by Ben Zwycky: you have to play at least two matches per month, or face a penalty. It's all in the handbook. I just went over rev 6 of the handbook, but I didn't see it. Can you give me a page number where it says that?
  6. Sorry boss, that was my ball to drop, I've had kind of a busy week. I've PM'd Gavin, and Krasus and I are in pretty regular touch, so I think we're generally in good shape. Perhaps I missed something though, what's this about having a mandatory number of challenges per month?
  7. Welcome back Jerold! I've just cleared you for Level 1 access to the secure forums, so you should see them once you login there again. In the L1 forums there is further information about how the fleet's security structures work. I'll PM you your level 1 password. Good to have our old-timers present and accounted for!
  8. Congratulations on crossing the finish line Derek, that's another feather in your cap. Hope you've got some time to take a well-deserved rest.
  9. ALRIGHT BEN!!! Playing in the big time now!
  10. Yeah, I gave it top marks for chemistry between the principles, and for general kinetic fun. I'm sure Scriv's going to have something to say about it's failure as art, but I'll give it a 9/10 for entertainment factor.
  11. It might, or it could be done correctly. Putting a Sprite billboard in Everquest would be insanely stupid, but if there were a free MMO that was urban-based (say Matrix Online or City of Heroes or something) that had real billboards instead of the normal fake ones (there are billboards after all anyway), then it might actually ADD to the immersion factor. Moreover, if there were clever product placement (like a Sprite can as part of back alley litter, or real cars instead of generic ones), the game would be enhanced I think since it would be more like real life. Nonetheless, if it's not done the right way, this could get bad fast.
  12. Well, once we got going it was pretty fun. I got three kills!
  13. The training sessions are usually on Saturdays, at about 1:30CST I think. We've not been so good about notice and scheduling, and I'm currently looking into some software additions to our site that might help everyone stay abreast of training and match events.
  14. Hi Captain Proton! I've approved you to the fleet db, welcome to ISS. What you need to do now is get registered at the ISS website so you can receive clearance to level one of the secure forums and begin learning what you need to know to participate with ISS. Glad to have you onboard Commander!
  15. Dear heavens... I... I... Okay SC, back to the code mines with ya, and if we let you out for food and water, consider yourself lucky! (Now, off to start saving dough for a system to run it!)
  16. Welcome Alnor. We're glad you found our materials helpful, and we're glad to have you onboard. To continue with ISS fleet, you need to do two things. 1. I've approved your registration in the fleet db, but now you need to get registered on our website. 2. You need to add your system profile information to your sig so we can see that you have a registered copy of the game. Instructions for doing so are here. When both of these things are complete, post here again and we'll get you cleared for Level One access to the ISS classified forums. [ 04-07-2005, 10:40 PM: Message edited by: Zane Marlowe ]
  17. You know, something else to note. ISS has had it's struggles with membership the way Wraith now is. Ben Z., Jamont, and I spent quite a bit of time getting our fleet documentation, website, and everything else up to speed before the fleet started looking really good. We struggled through last year just getting two people to be present in our matches, and eventually we started picking up recruits. You guys have one of the coolest fleet concepts in the whole darn game: special ops. Get someone to rebuild your website, work on your fleet documents (I'm currently writing a charter, and have written fleet history, training documents, character profiles, etc., go check out iss.galcom.net). Get your "pitch" together, and you'll have people flocking to the join a fleet of snake-eaters that "own the night."
  18. AAE is an Alternate Alter-Ego (alter alter ego? I'm going to lose track at some point!). Basically in order to get our teams to come out with the right numbers, we created alternates in order to have opposing forces with the right numbers for a ladder tournament.
  19. 1. I'm hoping Helo gets off planet again with Starbuck. 2. I'm glad that all the cylons (or cylon-affiliated) people we're aware of are now exposed or off the Galactica itself. Yes I realize that you could write more in as subversives, but I'm hoping that Galactica's going to be able to go forward without further internal subversion. 3. What do you think's going to happen with the government now that Adama's got Roslyn in the brig? 4. Will Season Two be the season where Apollo finally steps up and becomes as excellent a soldier as Starbuck is? I can't wait for July either.
  20. That's fair, I think I can be there. Krasus, Damier, Rael, can you guys make it tomorrow?
  21. I've approved Rael for entrance to ISS. Let me be the first to welcome you to the fleet Rael! The next step is to register at our fleet website located at http://iss.galcom.net,, and you will be given security level one access to our forums and you can post your availability to participate in fleet training sessions there. Higher security clearances will be available as you participate in the fleet, most of our regulars are level three, and there are a total of five. I'll get your access cleared when you register over there, until then, your orders are to adjust your sig since you are now a member of GALCOM's ISS fleet.
  22. Or alternates to the first team? Last year we had two people show up most of the year, and had a sub for the third. If we had three consistently, we'd be in great shape.
  23. Nope, Monday's a regular day. Earliest we'd be able to do it again would be next Sunday let's say.
  24. Good heavens, you're right Denny! Guys, at 1:30pm CST on Easter Sunday, there's no way I'm going to be able to make it since there's a lot of family and church related stuff going on that day (I'll probably be eating when the first shots are fired ). Is there any way we can either do it Saturday or put it off a week?
