Ok I'm back, had a nasty HD failure, and now it is time to freaking crack this nut (must be done within this weekend since the studies take over next week). Going to attack this in two ways based on the snippets: Why is it not charged? (reg: ATV that stopped firing) ...and it does just that (reg: solar power used until reactor is back online) Cheers - bbl

Well I looked in the manual page 40 - last sentence and that implies something about distance to solar source, as in my view of it not the same as alignement towards the same source. Guess this time that'll be poked around with later is something like. Sol <--> Ship * logistix setting = extracted power. In words: Take the distance between the ship and the source. Put it in some mathematical algoritm with the logistix settings and that equels how much power is extracted. Could be alot more factors involved but I'll play around in that direction until SC points us towards the obvious direction [edit] LOL Found myself in space and can't for the life of it locate the source (other than a very bright nebula) in any other means than alignment. My whole theory went down the drain in less than a minute. Well i'm a beginner and I can make mistakes like that!

quote:Originally posted by Olias7: My guess is this, though I haven't tested it: Perhaps when you are getting a high power input from the solar panels, your systems are drawing off of that first, the nuke second, and therefore saving you radine crystals. Perhaps power allocation to the solar reactor affects that somehow. I had some similar thoughts and tried them out last night. Just had my ship sit tight for around 15 mins and radine dropped from 1000 to 990. Turned off solar reactor completly [edit2]and had the ship realigned so the solar input was 0[/edit2], after another 15 mins radine level was 980. So just to do some kind of confirmation I turned solarpanels up to 10 [edit2]and had the ship realigned so the solar input was 98[/edit2], and waited for yet another 15. Guess what, Radine level 970. Ok 15 minutes might not be long enough for it to take effect so I'll try again when I have more time on my hands. [edit]This is harder than an A.Christie novell but my guess is that it has something to do with Resnik and the Nutripak in the Turbolift. [edit2] See inline text for some minor clarifications. Other thing to try is to have your ship speed to the max then turning off the engines in ITD and see if radine consumption is the same as if engines are turned on. Yeah I understand what you've written SC and Jaguar and I am all for kicking butt. My idea was that if there is a lack of presence from forum mods there would be a way to prohibit asswipes messing up the forum by non moderator members. It was kinda strange to see how the idiot went rampage without the ability to do anything. By temp-ban I meant that the person have their posting privs revoked until an authorized moderator could come online and either kick the ass outof here or if in an event of error from the forum community revoke the posting prohibition. btw thx for keeping the forum clean Cheers

it's just sad. some people have too much time on their hands and messing up a forum is really below kindergarten mentality. could there be some sort of auto-(temporary)revoke someones posting rights after say 25-50 people have reported their post? Cheers

Have to buy new Grafikcard, need help :-)

Since I'd always had some issues with my GF3 card I kinda borrowed my daughters Radeon 9200 and to my surprise UC works alot better with the Radeon card. Alot of flickering has vanished, the skybox is marvelous and when I run in window mode the window itself is much more responsive.(Like to mine or go on long trade routes while surfing the net). Feels like I must get rid of that GF3 card and upgrade mysystem. (sigh I was hoping it would last until my studies were done). To conclude:I stand behind darkling - Radeon 9200 works like a charm with UC (dunno what kinda drivers I'm using but I think they are the latest public ones) Cheers -
RTFM or the Game Commands sheet that came with the game. Helps ALOT. Or download the demo. With demo there are some very nice tutorials and also a pdf which has some really n00bish HOWTO sections that helped me alot after a week of what you just wrote oh and put your system profile in the sig or the mods will be all over you. Cheers

Man now I must have BCMG back. I saw BCMG in the local shop for 50kr more than UC (thats about $7). guess I'll have to import it then. Cheers and Wooot and all the other very nice ways of saying thx for this
