  1. SC, I am using an ASUS GF4 Ti4200 board and have no problems with UC's graphics whatsoever, not with ASUS graphics drivers, nor with NVIDIA's reference drivers, so this apparently is not related to driver issues only, but a combo problem. Thought I should add this comment for others, though I am not sure what relevance it has! People with such a problem are not helped in any way by my comment, BUT: maybe it does add to a more positive morale, which is good! Hope makes living.... err... we're getting a little carried away here, so I'll shut up!
  2. Indeed! Works like a charm and when the later versions incorporate the option to slew the window or at least put it somewhere else it will be just Perfect!

  4. anyone else has this problem? They do work here, even on other pc's...
  5. Captain's Log March, 23rd ***WARNING*** The story about to be told contains shocking material! ************* "We never tought it would be right under our nose..." - Marine #8. This is what races through the minds of my men after our routine inspection to find a training location on Earth. We were assigned to investigate an Insurgent base located ***CONFIDENTIAL*** (...) When in orbit around Earth, we scanned the region, but found no sign of any hostile activity in and around the base, we did not find any sign of life at all, except the flocks of wildlife. However the buildings and material stationed there seemed in very good shape and we were positive wildlife could not be responsible for that! I ordered the men to commence planetfall and we silently rushed to the face of the Earth. At 10.000ft I launched two fighters to scan the area ahead visually, but they reported no activity. They docked again without problems... We landed not far from the base, I'd say around 2km, still no sign of any life. The base seemed to rest in peace, however the SAM installations pointed their missiles in the sky, ready to strike if necessary. This base did not feel right... We've never been able to get in the neighbourhood of any Insurgent base without being tracked by sensors, attacked by marines, gunships and fighters, dodging missiles, defending their base, while this base seemed not to care... I loaded up TACOPS once more to take a look myself. I saw several tanks, MFB's, gunships, SAM-vehicles, Assault Buggy's, etc but none were manned. Shuttle one loaded up with a Wildcat tank and 5 marines. Shuttle two the same. They both launched, one dropped its cargo at the east side of the base, the other at the north side. Once radio contact with the marines was established I ordered them to scout the area and report anything they could find. After several hours scouting without any results I figured I would have to take a look myself. As this base really seemed to be deserted. Reassuring myself my strange feeling was based on only speculation I walked to the Shuttle Launch Bay and entered Shuttle 1. I flew it to the surface. Still the base was dead... very dead. The sun slowly fell behind the horizon and dusk came to greet us, in a horrible way... In my ignorance I thought this deserted base would be the best training facility ever found and I wanted to secure most of the usable material stationed there. I ran to a gunship to see in what condition it was and found it in perfect state! I quickly started it and it flew like a charm. Overrun by greed I wanted it all! I wanted every single vehicle, gunship, SAM site... heck I wanted the whole base! This was the day that I not only was a CC Commander, I would also become the new Commander of a whole military base! I ordered my men to drive every vehicle that would fit into the gunships to transport them to the CC. However... as they drove an Assault Buggy into one of the gunships it just disappeared into the void... We looked everywhere but the Buggy was gone. It was not until we decided to leave the area (for reasons I will explain further down) we finally discovered what happened to it: This is where the Buggy had gone... Right after this incident my men went crazy! Shooting around as they had seen the most frightening thing in their lives! Even the crew of the Wildcat went crazy running over good marines, shooting at everything that came into their sight! It was pure mayhem! Marines ordered to escort chased eachother to death. I saw two marines running through the remains of a destroyed building when one of them magically flew into the air! He was not equiped with a jetpack, but he took off just like that I was even more affraid when he literally walked on air, screaming for his mama! These men were not mine anymore. Some dark force was not going to give up its home afterall, but I knew the souls of my men were trapped into their haunted bodies, which were now under command of this dark power... I shot those who weren't killed by former teammates. The marine who walked on air, collapsed when I hit him several times, but as you can see, I have proof he was posessed; he disintegrated right after he fell down, still floating in the air: Marine walking in the air! Marine dissolving right after he was killed. I called for an Evac immediately! We had to get out of here fast before the CC was taken over by this power as well! Luckily I was back at the bridge in time to prevent any more harm to my crew and we returned to space in an instance... "We never tought it would be right under our nose..." - Marine #8. On our precious homeland... Only God knows what will become of Earth in future if this dark power is allowed to evolve...
  6. If I understand correctly, if the spawnpoints are any object marked as waypoints and at least six will be present, more than one player will start at the same spawnpoint and all you have to figure out right now is how to make sure this doesn't occur at the same time? One thing is not quite clear: You say that at least six spawnpoints will be created. Does this mean that there will be some sort of script to create more if the session requires this and if so, what are your plans? I ask this because if the situation is clear for me as well I can comment on it in a better way. Thanks!

  8. Indeed sounds cool. The only thing you would have to prevent is the playing area becoming too large (but you thought of that one didn't you? ), but otherwise I don't see any reason not to like the game mode! Will there be an option to set the amount of spawnpoints, so you can tailor the session to the amount of players, or will it automatically set an even amount of capture points to joined players in the session? Or maybe one spawnpoint less than players per side, so there's always a free roaming player. Just brainstorming to help.
  9. Nice report! Maybe you can setup a little Shuttle Surf abode somewhere on a planet and charge people for it (just restrict people bringing their own shuttles), heck maybe even give surfing lessons!
  10. You know what one of the problem of the average gamer nowadays is? Many games are no-brainers, just press the jump, run and fire button as long as the "You've won!" (or lost) message shows up. Or just rush to build the fastest, hugest, toughest army, unit or whatever and annihilate the enemy. If I look at my nephews they too seem to find games "Way cool!" when there's nothing intelligent involved. They are 16 and 13 and not in the "first PC game generation" anymore. They are raised with these no-brainer games, so maybe we can't even blame them... Games like UC tend to be regarded as slow paced, boring or what not, but those people never bother to look at the true internals of a game and don't see what extreme (re-)playability these games offer. I am also getting sick of people turning a game down by only looking at the graphics; if a game isn't pretty then it sucks. Nonsense as far as I am concerned (Look at Wizardry 8 if you like RPG's, if you know what I mean). Anyway it's good to see that there really are reviewers who look further. BTW Have you noticed that the negative reviews about UC tend to come with the exact same reasons as if they have just copied their reviews...?
  11. Hello fellow Commanders! As a former Battlecruiser V2 Commander I have watched the community closely. As of now I re-enlisted as a Commander and am once again back at the spot where I should be; the bridge! After having fiddled with UC for about a week now I am feeling right at home again! Everything feels in place, yet many new things are still to be discovered in my shiny new capital ship! So, whatever race you might belong to, whatever caste you might pursue, I either salute you, or warn you; friends are welcomed warmly, however enemies will be annihilated with any and all force available. Marine - "Woah... that was a cool speech, Cmdr!" Cmdr. - "Shut Up! At the forum we all drink beer together, but I forgot to mention that." BTW: I don't have my system specs in my signature yet, but that's because I am posting from the computer of my girlfriend on which UC is not installed. Once I get back at my place this afternoon I will update immediately. Just wanted to say hi already in the mean time!
