  1. WoW + red moon rising? I think u got something confused here, as WoW + Ironforge indicates World of Warcraft as far as I know.

No offense, just trying to keep this discussion going on two tracks in case WoW means something else to you Darkling.

  2. Holy cow! That machine looks fantastic I am gonna bid well over 5000 now to be sure I will get it. Money isn't an option! *crazy look in his eyes*

Why where's my girfriend's credit card... *whipes drool from his mouth*

Oh wait... what does it say here.... United States Only... ahh man, no way!

    Lucky bastards you are!

  3. Doesn't look like my cup of tea, but seeing you also post about MoM I guess you would know Wizardry 8?

That's a classic AND a game I really, really like. Not many other RPG's give so much depth in character interaction and management. Also dated graphics, but as Sho said in the other thread, it's about gameplay in the end.

I am sure you're happy with Avernum 4 though, but it does look like a fan title and certainly not for the bulk of people.

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Nah, don't worry, the screenies are definately work in progress. There are too many artifacts and 'rough' models. I don't believe this will be the finished product.

I agree, OFP was superb! Looking forward to AA, although no ones knows wether this will be the name of the game, because they stated sometime earlier that until they find a publisher which apparently will decide on the name of the product the working title will be AA.

  5. ...and I ran to the store to grab a copy.

    It's basically 3 games in 1;

-The Sims like gameplay where you have to manage the relationships and happyness of your actors, crew, etc.

-Manager/Builder game where you have to build up and maintain your studio.

    -Filmmaker! (of course)

You can opt to leave the first two parts to a minimum and just focus on filmmaking in the sandbox mode, but playing the 'storyline game' (if you will) is kinda fun!

Anyway I am rather amazed how much influence you can have (provided you have built the appropriate facilities in your studio) over your film.

Scenes, lighting, weather, props, clothes, too much to list in a short post here, really.

On the community website lots and lots of movies (mostly crap, but some very worthwhile) already have been posted and you're just laughing your pants off watching some of them.

    It's a fun game!

  6. Argh! This day has been one of the toughest in a long time! Let me explain:

This morning at girl's apartment without internet: wakey wakey! YES! It's monday, UC:AWA should be available from Trymedia today!

Is she gone? Yep, she's off to work alright. Good, then I can get out of here early without being noticed (hey you always have to prevent getting called back to do housekeeping stuff, for example).

Jump into car, drive home, almost killing some elderly people in the process (well, I never agreed upon those white stripes on the road pedestrians use to cross streets on).

At home. Check whereabouts of other family members. Oh! Lucky day; all gone.

Jump inside house. Try to reach power button of computer. No use; dog won't let my jeans go.

Forced to get cookie for dog first. Run to computer, turn computer on.

    www.3000ad.com...

    ...

    (crappy broadband)

    ...

pling! Wha? No news... Oh well, maybe the webmaster had too many beers yesterday and isn't on duty yet.

    www.trygames.com

    pling!

(broadband works again! yay! good for download!)

Need time to process information shown...

    No... No Univ... No UC:AWA?!

Check back on 3000ad forums. No notification.

Then the intense pain started. The urge, the drive to keep checking the two websites.

(Sorry if I ate too much bandwidth, SC )

And now... now it's almost bedtime.

Shall I check one more time...?

    No. Resist. It's not here.

    Reeesist... re...

I already thought everything went a bit too smooth today getting to a pc with an internet connection. *sigh*

Seriously though I hope I can drive the new shiny vessels shortly, SC!

  7. Goodday to you all, fellow Insurgents!

Some might have noticed that I have been away for some time, this is due to real life training on the aircraft I am going to fly for my very first commercial (big) aviation job in my career; the Fokker 50.

Training is awesome and we are having lots of fun, though it is quite hard at the same time.

Long hours, study, study, study, flying is on your mind 24/7. You know where you're going, so its not that big a deal.

I hope once my type rating training is completed and I am going on line training (yes, with passengers on board! ) I will have more time again to return to duty here.

In the mean time, keep things nice and tidy and win some matches in case I won't be around soon enough!

How's UC:AWA by the way? This is my first visit to a computer in, like, 4 weeks... well not entirely true, but you get the point; I haven't been able to either buy or checkout the new game, so tell me!

    See you guys soon.

  8. It's the demo, so on the one hand I think it doesn't matter, it might even be a good thing so that people can see a whole lot more of what the full game has to offer. Or something...

The timelimit is way too short anyway.

On the other hand. If people are allowed to do this they kinda have the full game, but only with one map and people might just choose to go along with the demo instead of buying the full thing.

I had a blast playing the demo, though, even with the timelimit, but I don't get why the game reloads the map after a few rounds...

Voice over IP didn't work yet, but that's probably a config issue on either mine or my friend's side.

  9. Nice call. My Saitek X52 HOTAS just came in this morning!

I got it cheap from a german store on ebay. It's new, not used AND you save fifty euro's. So I didn't have to think for too long to make the decision.

The Cougar set is top notch, though. But indeed also VERY expensive. I don't even know if the yoke in the real Fokker 50 I am going to fly is as expensive as the Cougar!

Anyway, the X52 will do nicely.

But back on topic: Yes, the publisher of the original game only had a contract with the devs to support only 2 patches, which came. As flightsimulation being a niche category when it comes to public interest, the plans for an expansion were dropped. At least, so we thought for a long time. Our russian friends had been working on a whole new damage model en we sorting out the bugs for a long time and decided to go along on themselves. Hence the 'unofficial lock-on addon' as they state on their website (www.lockon.ru). I think that has to do with the before mentioned publisher still holding all the rights or something.

It's as official as you can get and if we keep supporting these guys there might even be another expansion on the horizon, plus the addition of the damage model for all flyable planes. Too bad nothing has been said about the AI using the same damage model. If not, the AI has a huge advantage over human players. Multiplayer, on the contrary, will be a BLAST!

Pick it up, you can't go wrong with this one if you love Lockon, well except for the Starforce crap maybe. Some download version owners complain it screws up and they have to re-activate everytime they try to run the game. I didn't have any problems with that.

The only thing you did have was upon re-install (without hardware change) you had to re-activate (and you only have 5 times), but the devs have put a registry key up for download which will provide a workaround for this problem too.
