  1. Hi, this is my favorite method of destroying a planetary base: 1. Move your carrier or cruiser into orbit. 2. Put several pairs of marines into the transporter. I usually take 2 - 4 pairs of EF and MI marines. Add a EC or MC marine to the transporter, i will use him as a waypoint later. Deploy them at a distance to the base so that they do not attrackt the enemy marines. Here's a screenshot Setup 3. Now put two marines with some punch to the transporter. I usually use AFM marines for this job. Deploy them next to a target, but in some distance to Bunkers or barracks AND in line of sight of the first wave. Look at this picture: Second Wave A few shots on the target will arise the enemy, heading for your AFM marines. Look at this: Here they come As you will notice, the enemy marines are fixed on the AFM marines. Now give GOTO order to your AFM marines, sending them to your EC or MC marine deployed in the first wave. Do not EVAC them, except they are near to destruction, in this case your timing was wrong. If you EVAC them, the enemy marines loose their fixing, which would spoil our plans. 4. Add the enemy marines to your priority list, select closest enemy last(Use HOLD button often throughout the operation) Let your EF or MI marines of the first wave attack the enemy marines using the priority list. If your numbers are high enought or your marines AI is low use two marines against one enemy, ensuring the enemy gets killed, not only disabled. The situation should look like this: Easy Prey Your AFM marines #13, #14 are heading for marine #20, your EF and MI marines for the enemy. Since the enemy marines are fixed on your AFM marines, whom they can't reach in time, they get slaughtered by your EF and MI marines, not even defending themselves. Give your EF and MI marines the HALT order, disallowing them to move too deep into the base arising more enemies (for now).Take care of disabled enemy marines, since they will repeat chasing your AFM marines after they healed themselves. Repeat the actions above until all enemy marines are lured into destruction. Then move your forces into the base and let them destroy everything that's left. If all went well the base gets completly destroyed at the cost of some ammo clips.
  2. Hi, had the same problem as mentis. I am usually using Linux to surf the net, so i used it to download the uc2.00.11 patch. My save file dialog on Linux named the patch uc2.00.11.exe, i transfered it to the UC folder on my Windows machine and executed it, getting the same problem as mentis. After several tries i used Windows to download the patch, now the save file dialog named the file uc2[1].00.11.exe. Executing this file, it worked. EDIT: I checked it again, downloading it a few minutes ago using Linux and Windows. The file size under Linux is 10 164 361 Byes; this one doesen't work. Under Windows file size is 10 164 203 Bytes, this one works. So in my case it was a Linux or a Mozilla Problem. [ 07-02-2004, 07:13 AM: Message edited by: malbeth ]
