  1. Tried to edit, but I took too long... This precise problem was posted HERE ... but have not run accross a way to fix it.
  2. bikertaz... I just had the same problem. I've had them wander out of range before and you just do what Chavik and Skydive give as solutions. In my case this time, I go to the planet view > zoom > support units... and it only shows 3 drones (knowing *&^% well I put 4 here). Next I check Tactical computer > Loadout > SC > 1 > drone > select drone 1 from pulldown... it shows DEPLOYED, 100%, MOON-02-FULL. I have tried twice to retrieve mdrone1 to no avail. Even if I try to extract with myself as pilot of shuttle, when I select DRONE > EXTRACT... it only shows DRN-2, DRN-3, DRN-4 (and again, according to TAC COMPUTER, the drone is on Moon-02.) and before you get defensive SC... We're not saying it is faulty programming -- glitches happen once in a while. We're just looking for possible solutions to retrieve, destroy/replace the $$#@% thing. quote:By the time you're done with all the options the drone will wear itself out and eventually self-destructHow long does it take before it self-destructs?
  3. I have had this problem with extracting mining drones using Marine pilots. As you will notice in the other posts around the forums, there is an issue with extracting on uneven ground an issue with low AI of Marines Two things I have noticed / done... used a Pilot for the shuttle - worked when the Marine just couldn't improvise/adapt/overcome. when sending a shuttle to extract a mdrone, you need to make sure that you are telling it to extract the correct # of the mdrone (i.e.: extract mdrone 3.) If the mdrone that is out is #2 and you tell the shuttle to extract mdrone 3 it will not extract the drone. quote: I've had shuttles killed or stolen and couldn't buy new ones. I'm not sure if my problem then was that I didn't have enough credit or if I wasn't doing something correctly. I was either in logistics or tactical loadout and when I clicked on the missing shuttle the response I got was that there was no replacement available.Yes, you can purchase new mdrones. You cannot do it through Tactical or Logistix - that is where you replace them once you have purchased them. You have to go through Tradcom
  4. read these... -- Guide for posting errors -- Patching information Make sure you follow this to the letter -- Read the FAQ in your ...Universal Combatdocs folder -- Version Control File Make sure you read what is above and even re-read it... then follow it to the letter. Most of the problems that people have are covered in one or all of those "required readings". From personal experience... if you miss one little part, it could cause problems. I have also learned from personal experience and from reading these boards... KEEP RESNIG AWAY FROM ANYTHING TECHNICAL... He is as bad as a paraplegic on fire with all thumbs!!!
  5. Your DirectX is version 9.0b... reread the requirements and forum posts... it needs 9.0c
  6. I recently had the same thing -- sort of. We were just out in space... had a few intruders, and the compliment of Marines (8) went straight to the shuttles 3 & 4. They were obviously having a party -- because they never moved. I promptly relieved Resnig to his qtrs and sent the Marines searching. I personally think that resnig has removed his locator device and keeps it in the ops center -- I think he was down in the shuttles leading in all the xmas Marine-deer games.
  7. I have been playing the game for about a week now... all I can say is WWWWOOOOOOWWWWW!!!! With all things considered (size of environment, complete controllability - except as described below, and multiple modes of AO's [area of ops]), I think the graphics are marvelous. Those that ridicule the graphics are off their rocker. I just finished HL2 and that had 5 disks and a 45min install time... sure it looked great, but still didn't even come close to the massive gaming environment that you have provided. I haven't played any of the BC series so I am coming in fresh with no knowledge of previous controls etc... I have never been a big fan of keyboard controls except for fps. However, I do like the fact that the keyboard controls still take precedent even when a joystick is used. That has allowed for customization of my joy profile with the x52. The multiple modes of play are outstanding. space, planetside flying & vehicles, and fps -- fabulous intigration. I love the personnel tracking on the ship. I just wish I could send the marines to more places specifically, at least until the CO ai increases to a smarter level - although I'm sure that gets into other complications with the game. Still trying to get a grasp of all the control features and where the various items are located in the menus... it seems a little unorganized right now, but I am sure that the organization of it will seep in as I play more. The depth of control is still quite amazing. There seems to be an issue with the orders for support craft -- escort, defend, etc. I have read all the posts, but there should be a difference in the way the ships react to the environment with respect to those commands (i.e.: "escort" remains with the target and attacks only in close proximity to the target - ignoring distant targets; "defend" performs on a system scale, but places priority on enemy closer to the target ship) hope that made sense. I have seen that it depends on where you give the command from... why should it matter whether you give the command from the TOM or the TLM -- it's still an order from the commander. I appreciate the way you support your game - I can't think of any of the developers out there that spend so much time in the personal aspect of monitoring the boards. ... harsh sometimes, but then again stupidity deserves to be treated in such ways. Don't know exactly how to go about it, but organizing the forums a bit might help with the information search. (ie - rules for post title corresponding with the body, no multiple questions within one post - but that takes up space, etc) I have seen some boards that work really well that way, and it helps eliminate the multiple posts that are spread from Alpha Centauri to Regulus with little tidbits of info. I'm not a tech person when it comes to the inner program workings, but I am an old gamer from way back - enough games on my shelves to start my own store - so I can't really provide much in the way of technical criticisms. Overall I love this game, appreciate the effort that has gone into it, and the support that the creators and the rest of the senior players put into it and the forums to keep it going.
  8. I use the x52 stick myself. I love it. The only thing I haven't been able to get to work exactly is the accelerate/decelerate of the ship using the throttle - it will not work like a normal throttle right off the bat. You have to hit 9(at least initially to engage the thrusters) then use W to get to full speed, then you can use the throttle to slow down/speed up. What I can do is send you the profile that I am using to save space here. Drop me an email: [email protected]
