  1. I've read the above thread and I am having a similar problem with my craft. I'm Running the latest patch,(2.00.26) correctly installed. Since I did that, I decided that I would build up the AI on my crew, so I landed on earth and shut every non-vital system. Sent out the drones and just let it go. ALL systems were stable at green levels when I landed (All above 95%) After a few days of mining I got the message that the main computer had been damaged. I thought it was odd, because I had been parked, but hey... things break. SO, I assigned a crew to fix it. Which they did. All the way back to 100%. THEN, I got a message saying that the main computer was damaged again. So I ordered more repairs. This happened about 4 or 5 times. Each time I would repair it to 100%, then it would break down to 50% and is listed grey on the logistix menu. All the time without leaving the surface of the planet. I did go into space and attempt repairs there, as well as at Galcom HQ. Each time, as soon as the repairs are ÔÇ£doneÔÇØ, the system spontaneously breaks down to 50%. I did a little checking and what it LOOKS like is, as long as my system engineers ARE NOT on station. This damage does not occur. Even when I dock at HQ. If I go in quickly and tell all sys. eng. to go to medibay, this damage will NOT occur. The moment any System Engineer goes on station, the main computer becomes damaged down to 50%. I have all necessary repair items, including 2 spare main computers. But it WILL NOT let me replace the system. And when I choose repair, it shows that NO spare parts are needed. IÔÇÖm sure I could live with constant repairs, but I have other repairs that need to be done, I have to take them all OFF the Main computer and re-assign them to something else BEFORE their AI sends them back to the main computer. IÔÇÖm not sure whatÔÇÖs going on here , but if anyone has an idea, I would sure love to hear it!
  2. I love to find a nice flat spot on a planet somewhere and send out the mining drones to do lengthy repairs. Especially when I have "a couple" things. I make runs with the shuttle for parts, and to sell minerals. It's also a good time to rest and train the crew, and go out with my AE to explore.
  3. My only problem with Voice Recognition software is that knowing MY luck, I would be playing and someone would come by or call, and something I say to THEM would be interpreted as a command. That could be "BAD" depending on the conversation. But it's an interesting thought, definately worth looking to. With locked doors and no phone of course.
  4. Thanks, I'll be on the lookout for the next patch and just be patient. I have 3 that still work and I keep them on priority list just to be sure I don't "misplace" them.
  5. I have also lost a drone. I accept that I MUST be in range to pick it up and I have/am continuing to try the 2 methods mentioned above to locate the drone. SAR while I go. My question is this.. How long before the drone self-destructs? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. No argument here, Wireless headphones sound pretty nice. If ya start hearing a drone of the chatter when your not playing... Disable it... If your hearing the drone or your engines... Well... Turn the volume down a little, alarms should still be loud enough to alert you. Just a game?... Perhpas... but it's the fuel of imagination.... besides... what ELSE are ya gonna do at work on a slow night!
  7. OK, I checked my drivers and they all seem to be up to date. Patch wise, I installed the game clean from the CD. THEN did the patch to bring it up to 2.00.00. I made sure to get the one for "new game" After that, I did the patch for 2.00.21. Each time I made certain that the patch was installed from the directory/location where the .exe files were. The only thing that I have modified is the directory where the program was installed. I didn't want it in the program files directory so I created a folder off the root "games" and substituted "games" for "program files" in the installation path. Could THAT be a problem?
  8. thanks, I'm looking into the driver updates, I just have a thought... When I run BCMG it ALL works fine. I have no issue whatsoever on the surface, entering atmosphere, or anything like that. I guess there is jump between BCMG and UC.I'll try looking for updates on the Video dirvers and try again.
  9. I also am having a similar issue. Every time I enter a planet area and attempt to land on it, I run into the same type of problem. The only planet that I have been able to safely touch down on is Earth. ONCE in the atmosphere, I can go to tacops and select locations BUT NOT FROM SPACE. I can not use OTS weapons! I can not select my landing spot from space like I could in BCMG. I've seen a few threads on this so far, and all of them not really worked for me. I tried landing on the moon, and crashed into mountains instantly when control was returned to me. Even though I CAN land on earth, I STILL can not see it in the tacops view when I zoom in. The screen just goesd black and all I see is the gridlines. NO FEATURES, NO BASES, nothing. If anyone out there has an idea about what is happening, it would sure make my plunder and pillage attemps a bit more successful and would be greatly appreciated!
  10. I would tend to agree. I LOVE this games depth and playability. I'm one of those that gets into a game and dig's in. The more commangs and controls to remember, the better. I've played BCMG before this, and now I'm on UC. Some minor graphic probs, but all things considered, if ya dig in depth "do as you will" gaming. It's hard to beat UC.
