  1. I'm surprized the tomb isn't already on sale on eBay...
  2. I guess their weapon was made by the lowest bidder too.
  3. Are hardcore gamers on the decline? Maybe the true gold lies with the casual gamers after all. Dropping the so-called fanbase seems to be more and more the way of the future, if you want to make a serious buck that is. Principles don't really pay the bills.
  4. Great, more ammo for Jack Thompson. Maybe attrition is one way to get rid of him.
  5. I hope that strategy works out for you, because personally speaking, I still buy 99.9% of the games the old-fashionned way, although I do so via the internet and have them shipped to me by mail (for 50% of the retail price with little or no S&H fees), using outlets like amazon.com and play.com. I'm used to downloading patches, but there is still a part of me that likes to have that little box with a CD's/DVD's inside. I used to throw away the cardboard boxes due to space limitations, but I do keep the DVD cases. I imagine the future is in GameTap, but I'm not sure about the timing. I suppose you have additional facts that motivate your decision.
  6. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: I see scientific papers all the time which 'prove' the existence of man-made component of global warming pushed under the UN yet these papers do not even mention the changes in temperature of the Sun, and other basic facts which ought to be taken into account. The temperature of the sun??? That's news to me. Maybe that's a topic for another thread, but I fail to see its relevance since we can hardly do anything about it, short of building a heat shield in orbit perhaps. It's quite unsurprizing that we tend to look for the culprit elsewhere, when we don't want to tackle an issue that falls well into the realm of our own responsibility. The ecosystem of this planet is at stake and while I don't mind warmer winters, if the consquences far outweigh the benefits, I don't think we should put our future on the line just because we don't want to act reasonably. The Earth doesn't need us, and it will spin around the sun long after we are gone, but I do hope that we can find a way to fix our climate. What we should do for starters is plant more trees. On the topic, it's a tough decision, damned if you do, damned if you don't. But I don't think just pulling out is going to do any good. By taking the war on terrorism to Iraq, bombs are exploding in Iraq and not on US soil. If you pull out your army out of Iraq you'll just be inviting those fanatics to your own backyards.
  7. I think Srivener is upset. Did he just equate liberal with jewish? I believe every year it's the same charade, not all who win an oscar truely deserve one. I never watch the oscar ceremony anyway.
  8. ^^^^ Two words: Jack Bauer I'm sorry, carry on...
  9. Come on, this isn't about Bin Laden, never has been. Think of him as Janet Jackson's breast, just media chum.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Frozen Ghost: Screw the bastards! Who needs 'em! We'll come up with something that will make their oil obsolete and they can all go back to riding camels and living in mud-huts when the money dries up.I think you are forgetting an important fact that a lot of that oil-money has been re-invested in Western companies and thus they have a say as to what economic and political decisions are taken over here. The situation is not as simple as it may seem. The true muslim puppeteers don't live in mud huts or ride camels anymore, they dress sharp, park their luxury cars in marbled underground garages and fly around the world in their private 747's...
  11. Supreme Commander has gone GOLD!! Link
  12. quote:Originally posted by Frozen Ghost: Yes, if it did work Jessica Alba would be spinning in my lap right now. The fact that she is not is a source of constant frustration for me and another confirmation that we live in a hostile and uncaring universe.Damn you, now I know why she's not spinning in MY lap. Well, on the plus side, she'd be ripped to pieces if the theory did work. At least we can enjoy seeing her at the movies.
  13. quote:Originally posted by Frozen Ghost: You attract to you what you think about most. That statement alone disproves the theory. Statistically speaking men think (consciously or not) about sex every 52 seconds (on average, women only 3 times a day.). That theory of attraction faces a physiological impossibility. So much for that.
  14. Well, the first one did have nice effects too, but overall it was only average. I hope the sequel is going to be better this time.
  15. If you ever wanted to take a look at a contract between a publisher and a developer studio, here's your chance: Call Of Duty: Finest Hour - The Contract These contracts are usually confidential, but this one is public because of a lawsuit between Activision and Spark. Interesting read to say the least.
  16. This is so sad, it's not funny. It's time to deploy national guard troops in video game stores to fight the war against violence in video games.
  17. quote:Originally posted by Scrivener: my favorite movies of 2006 are... 10. The Proposition 9. Tideland 8. The Prestige 7. The Departed 6. Rocky Balboa 5. Apocalypto 4. Pan's Labyrinth 3. Children of Men 2. V for Vendetta 1. The FountainI haven't seen most of the movies on your list, except V for Vendetta, and if that's your #2, then I'm really worried, because I didn't like that movie at all. I'd place V for Vendetta on the same shelf as The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Superman Returns (and to a certain extent, The Fantastic Four), which were so-so in my book. I did see Casino Royale which was great, and that's not even on your list. I guess that proves that different people see different movies even when they watch the same ones.
  18. Hmm... interesting read. I never thought of games that way. Opens exciting new opportunities... like cliffhangers in games.
  19. My turn: Jack Thompson interview: The firebrand lawyer answers our questions quote:The problem was and is that the brilliant but reckless person who created the Sims (I forget his name) has openly and actively encouraged mods of his figures. That has led to all sorts of porn available on the web to kids. You know like the brothers who built the first flying machine (I forget their names)... And you know, all the gun manufacturers, their products have led to all sorts of violent crimes. No he's good, no really.
  20. This only proves what we knew all along, sex sells.
  21. You know what this reminds me off? All those DOA attempts at MMOGs are like the early days of aviation, when they built flying machines that were supposed to get airborne by flapping their wings. It's really starting to become embarrassing.
  22. Onto the next riddle: Why did the chicken cross the road? I think those must be the same scientists that created seedless watermelons and figured out that ants count their paces in order to find a previously discovered food source... Don't you just love science? (Funny Seinfeld bit about seedless watermelons and food here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsLidazCO78 )
  23. quote:Originally posted by Wolferz: If they have no place to live, they can't work here. That's the whole gist of that ordinance. That's very cool in theory, the problem is, this doesn't work in reality because it counts on the cooperation of both sides, employer and employee, landlord and tenant. I don't know if you've noticed just because it's illegal for thugs to own guns, they sure as hell have no problems getting them anyway. You won't solve the illegal immigration problem by stopping those who earn money illegally at some place by prohibiting them from spending it there. Don't you think that those who allow them to work illegally will have ways to give them a place to spend the night? No law will work when faced with the desperation of those it's supposed to affect. The word carries no weight in front of an empty stomach.
  24. Like that's going to solve anything. They can work illegally there, but NOOO, they can't rent there. Yep, that makes a lot of sense.
