Shingen

I bought the first one, but I never made it past the first chapter. The game seemed to be on rails, and I never did much like the "point and click" combat model. I'm kind of weary about purchasing the 2nd one for the same reasons. I might get around to playing the game one of these days.

I guess Oblivion just didn't have the great dungeon crawls of Daggerfall and Morrowind. In Oblivion, all the caves, forts, and dungeons were pretty much all the same. Combat was pretty lame too, well at least the bladed combat. Spells were pretty effective, but the alchemy was basically nerfed from what it was in Morrowind. Skyrim sounds like another Gothic 2 clone.

If you are looking for spacesims; an excellent freeware game is Pioneer. It's built as a Frontier clone, but it really isn't. It has a lot of support and is pretty freakin' impressive. I've had a lot of fun with The Precursors. It's a russian game and it's buggy, but what game isn't. Typical Privateer clone, but it has enough orginality to make it fun. Just make sure to patch it first. There is always Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas. Best freeform FPS games out. Also, there is Oblivion, but I'm more of a Daggerfall and Morrowind freak. I just didn't get into Oblivion. I've had a blast playing FFE-3D. Great directX port of Frontier: First Encounters.

[RP] UCV-Deathstrike Shingen stood, helping Mariko to her feet. She brushed her head with her hand, wiping off the sweat. She shoved Shingen, low..in the chest, cursing him.. but walked away into the dark. Shingen turned to his ship. It was a wreak. Gammulan bodies were everywhere, along with most of his support crew. He hit his coms. "Smit! Are you still alive down there?" Several seconds passed with nothing but static. "Yo..boss! What the hell is going on?" "Is engineering secure?" "Yep..I'm the last one here..we got dead all over the bay.." Shingen thought for a minute..silent. "Hold your position, Smit. I'm going to find out what the hell is up." Shingen turn and entered the turbolift for command. [/RP]

That was pretty much the overall plotline for the RP. We just never got that far. If we can get to ISS, then I think I can take it into Killing Fields RP.

Yeah..I'd really like to finish this whole RP freeform.. but without Sho, it's not going to work.

Not too many oldtimers around. They mostly all left when BCM came out, back in 2001.

Ha! That's what I'm wondering. What's even more astonishing is that the mods here would have to censure a perfecting good spelling of a perfectly good verb.

Well, when Q started this RP, we spent a few hours on yahoo chatting about the storyline..and the jist of the whole conversation was to keep it a freeform RP. That means the RP evolves according to user posts. Than the dude bailed and left us all hanging. If you read Q's posts in the RP, you can get an idea of where he wanted it to go.

Well, the thing is, artifact spawn is random, and your lucky if you ever do find artifacts to buy. It takes time for those artifacts to get to stations by transports. If your even more lucky, you could find one in the cargo pod of a destroyed trade ship. Artifacts are mainly found in starstations, so i suggest you look in ALL of the starstations. If you want to edit the game, your going to have to active the cheat mode. But BEWARE! Cheat mode is for weenies! Click this if your a weenie But again, this game is built off of patience, so that is a virtue you must strive to learn. I always found the artifacts started spawning after 3-4 game days. Never in the same place. Good luck if you're an indie and the artifact you want is on an enemy starstation. Then you'll need to capture the station without a cloak.

Working on the final draft now.. I hope you all like the ending.

How do I update my post count? I know I have more than 92 posts on this board. I've been on this board since 2001 (1998 with the first 3000AD forum).

I'm going to try to finish Apogee with what Quazar gave me for the ultimate plotline. I'll have to RP everyone in the story so far, unless someone objects. Then I'm going to start an RP called Killing Fields. Great fun with that one

I've got a pretty good RP where the Gams infiltrate and take over GalComHQ, but it would require someone from Prime, or another fleet to RP it. Why doesn't Derek RP once and awhile? Where is Rattler, Chavek, or Shohashi? BTW, I hate the latest forum design. I want my old 3000ad back! How do we access old threads? No wonder this community is dead.
