Same error.

I reinstalled the DVD version of UCCE and went to patch to 1.04 using the updater, got the below error. Checked my settings.ini and its at the right version, so I thought I'd let you all know here. Grabbed the patch off the web and all is fine and I've been playing.

Ahh! This is really exciting. I betaed Alganon and have been considering resubbing. This brings my interest into it much higher then it was before, definitely.

Yes it did, really quite odd though since I hadn't altered anything within the demo files. No matter, its all working again and I can pewpew just fine.

Humm, something seems broken. Probably on my end. Launching the game, I got this, though then I relaunched it and got in fine. Trying to get into a vehicle, I got this; However, when I relaunched and tried it, I was fine and able to fly it. I played a bit more, then I got a 'has encountered a problem and must close' error, while crashing in the same vehicle, hadn't hit the ground. Is it just me (most likey), or did something go amiss?

For me it would have to be from watching Star Trek: The Next Generation with my father when I was little. Like father, like son I guess. Odd though, because he really wasn't much of a SciFi nut.

Looking at the update .18.21 * Added starbases (x 06) with internal levels What exactly is meant by this, do you mean new bases to the main map, or orbiting stations? (I guess I'm confused by what exactly is referenced to by the term starbases - just because I don't believe they've been referred to before in the game).

Well there is the GBS system to create your own missions, and you could replace the assets. However systems can't be modified*. * This is with UC, BC3k 1/2 the modification tools will allow you to do a lot more than with UC/BCM etc. Though I must say I haven't delved into them.

Been enjoying myself with the singleplayer maps in the demo, still sucking as much as I did, and expected to. Haven't saw a single game in MP with people in, been trying to get people to play with me - its been quite a chore, and I've been unsuccessfull to say the least. So this over at RPS, wish I'd been around for it. Would have been quite interesting to see it all going on. Still having fun!

On the topic there is an 'Options' button the upper right corner of a post. Click it and select Standard, you're currently in Outline mode. It should reload the page and everything will be normal again.

According to this link from here the link goes to an invalid file "The key you provided for file download was invalid. This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on Mediafire. This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or Mediafire.". I grabbed EchoSquad with the Summer price drop, and would like to be able to get the free DLC. Plus, broken links are just nasty

Looking at the descriptions from the three sources, it looks as if it says that all the games are included as well. From 3000AD: From Direct2Drive: From GamersGate: Those above quotes are separate from mention of scenarios (or show that the scenarios are also included). As for game compilations, they usually come with a series of games together, separately, not just updated and put into a new engine. (See the HoMM compilation, Half Life anthology, etc.) I just wanted to make sure that I was not just missing a version of BCMG in my version. Since the descriptions in all places say that the games are included, not just the scenarios.

According to the descriptions provided at GamersGate, Direct2Drive and on 3000AD the follow games are included in UCCE. Note that " All the campaign and instant action scenarios from the entire Battlecruiser and Universal Combat game series’" is a separate entry. So, I look in my UCCE DVD and see a folder /FREEWARE/ inside it a /GAMES/ folder. I see only BC3kver1, BC3Kver2 and BCM, but no BCM Gold. I find this odd since it was advertised that it comes with it. The only real reason it bothers me is that I'd like to play against a couple friends that have BCM and don't want to upgrade to UCCE. I supposively have access to the game, but I don't. Is it the same with the D2D/GG versions as well? Eh?

Wow, what a disappointment. So, TOS is my favourite series of StarTrek, I love the character interactions and the atmosphere/setting that it takes place in. Its not the campyness, nor the somewhat flawed acting that draws me in. Fast forward to the new movie, once it came out in theatre I ignored anything and everything about it and tried my best to love it. Because, it was a new StarTrek movie, which is not something that happens everyday.Well, I wish this hadn't happened. In my opinion this movie is like if you take everything that made the show unique and interesting, and threw it out. By this ofcourse I mean the settings look, the characters and their interactions. All of this is gone, or played only as a bit of fanservice and nothing more. Instead we get a movie that has some really nice space scenes, a ton of battle scenes, and a utterly forgettable plot that doesn't explain enough to make sense for the most part. Overall, it is nothing but a sell-out to gain money from a wider range of audiances. While I have no issue with this, I wish that they'd left the original series alone and created a new movie-based ship and its crew to do it with, therefore not tarnishing the legacy of series that started the entire series. Overall, perhaps 4 or 5 /10.

Ah, okay. Thanks. Its not as important now that UC has a free edition I can link about, but before it was quite useful to give people a lower priced version to try out.

I've been giving people links to Universal Combat: Gold on Direct2Drive and GamersGate for some time now due to it being cheaper, and having lower system requirements. However now it seems that both D2D and GG has removed all but UCCE and GALCOM:ES from their listings. Are these permanent removals or temporary, anyone know? Edit: But it appears Gametap now has Universal Combat Gold.

Options > Graphics/Sounds > Invert Mouse Axis > Change to 'no'.
