  1. 5 Only way to stop em is going into hyperspace or cloaking. 7 Perhaps the ODS presents a small enough target that some missiles missed? 10 Just for kicks and giggles. 0%. 12 RT is correct, beaming down on a planet can infect your crew with radiation or diseases. They can spread if you let them stay on your ship, usually its best to send them straight to the medbay and fix em up. Radiation I have no clue as to whether or not it can spread, but disease certainly can. 14 Beam him down to a planet and drop a OTS on him. It'll bump his AI up to 20ish. 15 No but I've had marines destroy my entire away team with rockets....
  2. That cards a tad slow, but it should be good enough for UCCE, maybe even 2.0 at max settings if your CPU can handle it.
  3. Every single PC I've ever used takes the PCI-E/AGP whatever it is slot over the integrated card.
  4. On XP the farthest I got was up to running it and crashing on the intro because I incorrectly followed the instructions that came with it. I think I messed up on the .bat file, I'm not sure.
  5. My 4830 is pretty cheap, and its a faster alternative to Sho's 9600. I don't think it'd run on a 300 watt power supply, I have no idea since I've got a 450 watt.
  6. So anyways I was in Midae just kinda sitting around waiting for ships to jump in. Then I see a transport jump in and think its easy money while its engines are recharging. So anyways I jump to the transport and with 10 seconds left on my jump, an Engstrom and a Megaron decloak about 5 kilometers away from my ship. Both ships unleashed fighters and their PTAs. At any rate my shields were down almost instantly (I had just started this game and hadn't upgraded them yet) Kendrick started rattling off damage reports, I swear it sounded like everything on the ship was broken. The Engstrom jumped to Caanan, I successfully destroyed the Megaron. Afterwords I ended up finally destroying the transport, though no cargo pod was found. Total damage? Very few system above 80% integrity, FC and cargo bays almost destroyed, and a crap ton of other stuff that had to be repaired.
  7. You have to hold the grenade button down. Should hear a ticking sound, just don't hold it down too long or it will explode in your hand.
  8. Also if that setup really bothers you (I suppose it no longer applies since your getting the downloadable version) you can end it through the task manager.
  9. So I was wondering what everyone thought of Season 2? I myself am finding it much more enjoyable than Season 1.
  10. The only companies I can think off the top of my head that do those things are 3000ad, (of course) Bethesda somewhat (they release their games for free, not so much the rest...), and Stardock. I doubt I can count how many patches have been released for Galactic Civilizations 2, and most of them have done a good job. The current release only has one gamestopping bug I can think of. I myself have been sticking to companies I know make decent games and will likely continue to do so. Ubisoft is done for me as well, anything with their logo I'm not buying unless I really, really want it.
  11. Wing Commander Arena was a disaster as well, people joked about the manual being better than the game. I never tried X-COM myself, so I'll probably look into it. I won't have anything to compare against it so I can be unbiased.
  12. If you go with the first option upgrade to 1.01.04. If you go with the second one launching 1.01.04 for MP would be correct.
  13. UCSE can still play with UCCE. Since you want MP don't get 2.0, it has zero multiplayer support.
  14. Thats strange, I've never seen anything of the sort. Could you describe any other conditions at the time?
  15. Yeah I don't like the whole must connect to internet to play singleplayer thing. Its much nicer to just have to verify it once and be done with it. This very thing stopped me from buying C&C4, and almost Napoleon Total War.
  16. I wouldn't use the combat AP myself, its far more effective to pilot the craft yourself.
  17. Stardock is one of my favorite companies. I didn't get any grief at all when installing/updating Galactic Civilizations 2 or SOASE. And you don't even need the disk to play it, so +1 in my book. But even Ubisofts packaging is sub par. After rebuying my Morrowind GOTY edition but with a Ubisoft distributed package I didn't get the manual or paper map included with the previous one.
  18. If you ask me, all DRM does is annoy the paying customers. I've yet to see a single pirate protection not cracked before/just after release.
  19. The only thing that really sticks out to me in V2.0 is the fact ODS units don't seem to fire anymore. In V1.01.04 if I go anywhere near them I'm blown to pieces but in V2.0 I can blast them with PTAs all day long. But back on topic, get v1.0 if you want MP, v2.0 if your rig can handle it and you don't mind not having MP.
  20. I believe ordering your CC to halt also clears it.
  21. Its whatever the immediate region your in. I believe it only counts for unarmed ships though. Mercs are the worst, get -EP for killing them, get -EP for not.
  22. There should be a PDF with them listed where you installed the game.
  23. Hyperspacing to the supply station takes you 0-2 KMs away from the space station usually. Not sure if its the same in UCSE, but in UCCE miscellaneous objects are disabled by default. So you might have to turn them on at first.
  24. I can't stand playing FPS games on a gamepad either. Losing the precison of a mouse+keyboard drives me insane.
  25. You forgot to mention it looks nicer too. But yeah, I recommend you buy UCCE, 2.0 if your rig can handle it. For the most part its bug free, just a few minor graphical bugs.
