Im getting a new card since BCG wont run on a geforce2 mx and probably more RAM. Anyway talking about inercorp restructuring, it might be a good idea to retire the diplomat division for now because Im not sure if there is much interest. If more people wanting to play diplomat turn up then it can be brought back.
  2. Im still here, just about. I'll start checking the forums more often to see how things are going.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu: Can do, gentlemen, please post your free times so we can get together at the ISS chat for a meeting Anytime over the next 2 weeks.
  4. Finaly I have BCM, and Im not swamped with asignments. Whats happening with these boards? Are they staying open now.

Womien need to be presented with the facts and make the decision themselves Alot of women say it has nothing to do with men, until its time to collect the maintenance check.
  6. I always wondered what that meant, doesnt sound like the greatest idea ive heard. One race shouldnt get prefferential treatment over another.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Tac: Yup. Any time I give my passport at any airport, my luggage and my person are inspected with twice the "dedication" as other passengers. I dont particularly like the treatment, but it is understandable. At least they dont break out the latex gloves.. yet I have a similar problem with being the only one of a group who is stopped when travelling because I used to carry a Nigerian passport. I still get it now with my brand new British one, they just spend less time checking. It is very annoying and frustrating being hassled becuase of your skin colour, but when it comes to circumstances like airport security, as much as I dont like it, its hard for me to argue against profiling. 8. @Jeff, your probably right, to be honest I dont see many UCV members posting anyway. @Baloogan, I like the idea of all the caste logos comming together, Got anymore? And how big is an acceptable size for one.
  9. Sorry I havent posted for a while, Uni is pissing me off at the moment. I got your email Jeff, the new layout looks good. Can you send any new messages to [email protected], its easier for me to check. Also since our numbers are pretty low, do you think we should create a recruitment thread.
  10. Okay people, about my difficulty levels. They were really just a working idea. I used the difficulty levels from Riga's payment page on the Intercorp site (1=cakewalk to 4=deadly) Im not too sure how difficulty, in terms of diplomatic missions, could be defined. Missions like arangement for the transfer of personnel(criminals, prisoners of war etc) would probably fall under level 1. Whereas missions like negotiating the cease of hostility between Vesperons and Empirians or Galcom and Insurgents etc. would fall under level 4. Im just not sure how to define them and the intermediate levels. Any ideas? Maybe a different method of judging experience? Also, do you think 10 missions per experience level is too much?
  11. quote:Originally posted by Riga: BTW: The diplomat division still has no name, charter or ranking (experience) system. Can you provide these so that I can include them on the website? Look at either Jeffery's or mine if you need an example. Yeah, ive just sent them to Jeffery. Another question. Are there plans to write an Intercorp wide 'terms of service' that talks about contracts. Things like what happens if either the employer or employee does not live up to their side of a contract, or is that down to the individual divisions.
  12. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu: 1) In the case of passive castes like explorers, diplomats, scientists and so forth how would you expect the pricing to be like? I would to suggest that the contract price should be based upon a) experience of the employee difficulty of the mission c) objectives For example, if a very experienced Diplomat is hired to gain an alliance between Sol and LV-103, how are going to put a price on that mission? In the reverse, if a brand new Diplomat is hired to do the same how are you gonna price it? Or If the medium experiences Diplomat is hired to just go into Credian Sector just to negotitate a exchange of prisoner of war, how are you gonna price it? I would say that pricing would mainly be based on the number of succesful missions for Intercorp. A more experienced diplomat would be paid more than the brand new one due to his reputation. Also if employers could pay the same price for the more experienced ones, as theyed have to pay for the ones with less experience, then the new recruits would never get a contract. A question, how is payment handled as a result of mission failure? I can see contracts for pasive castes like traders/explorers having a percentage of the money being paid up front and the rest on completion of the mission, as I cant imagine employers paying the whole fee before they have any results. How would this be handled with a diplomat type. quote: 2) Should long term customers be eligible for discounts? What's the maximum allowable discount to stop price undercutting? The next question would be do we even care? I guess since the nature of Intercorp is being able to come and go as you please, we would have to worry about undercutting, we dont want the image of forced membership. On the other hand I can hear all those $$$ pouring in as we monopolise the markets. quote:3) This question has nothing to do with economics, if a peaceful trader suddenly gets caught in a battle, who can he or she get compensation from, if he or she suffers damages. Will there be even a system in place for pursuit of compensation, or we don't care? Compensation could be a good way to attract new members, but.....isnt those kinds of occurences just part of indie life? quote:4) If a Galcom member breaks the rules (if there are rules, and if we know what the rules are) who should we complain to? Can we even complain or should us indies just suck up our gut and go on? We should be able to compalin to Galcom, if we dont already, we should have someone to liase with them.
  13. quote:Originally posted by aramike: Still, what on Earth is offensive about stating that America will stand its ground -- unless, of course, you don't want America to stand its ground which is a whole 'nother problem... As for the rules of the flag, they generally apply to flags that are meant for staffs, not facimiles of the flag. On its own, I cant see anything offensive about it. Thats why I think it was just part of a bigger problem with him being a muslim, and the bad name the religion has been given, especially over the last month.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Nova: It says, "These Colors Don't Run". I've seen it, and they even say that in the article. Did you even read it? Would that be offensive to you a a Muslim? I didnt realise that was all that was written on it. In that case then I dont see why he felt he had to take it down. Saying that, being on the wrong side of American "patriotism" does piss people off, maybe it was a chain of events.
  15. quote:Originally posted by Badgerius: I'm not saying he acted right in taking it down, but there is a PATRIOTIC reason behind it. [ 10-18-2001: Message edited by: Badgerius ] I doubt its a patriotic reason, more likely what was written on the flag was offensive to him as a muslim. But then again thats just my speculation.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Kenada: If I where to join Intercorp, would it be possible for me to work as please? What is policy for leave of absence? Would I have to put so much time into Intercorp? You can work as you please. "The members have no obligation and are not bound to rules or orders." Thats from the Intercorp charter the rest of it is here.
  17. quote:Originally posted by Rico Jansen: Guys! Don't just offer every new comming newby a director seat. Don't you think they should need to know a bit about the universe before they have a considerable influence on it? Look at the fleets, we're not popping every new member in the fleet staff. Those that are in are long standing members. I just like were I'm at. (at the moment) And think that we needed people at the bottom too. I know about BC Universe(well as far as BC3K goes), Ive been using this site since the V1 patches were out, I still dont own a V2.0 CD. Ive been registred here for 2 years, Ive just never thought about the game from a diplomats angle, hence all the questions. I havent posted because until last week I didnt have a regular internet connection and my system was a P200 so I didnt think I was ever gonna be able to play BCM. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu: But I would think that a Diplomat's role is definitely not a peacekeeper, as you will be hired by a different fleet or government at any one time. Furthermore, a peacekeeper in the BC universe must rely not only on words but how big a stick you have, which if I'm not wrong, you don't have one as a Diplomat's asset doesn't include a military starship. Diplomats can have armed transports. Very small stick. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu: But don't worry you're on the right track. does this mean that you're joining Intercorp? Have Riga sent you anything on Intercorp yet? I guess I am joining, Ive already started thinking of ppoints for the diplomats charter. I think I asked before for a link or PM of the charters(and anything else not on the site) that have already been written up. 18. Ok so I was thinking of some points for a charter and a diplomats role in InterCorp. Since Diplomacy falls under the Liason branch, does that mean a diplomat is also a person who is sent out to begin negotiations of all kinds involving what Intercorp has to offer or would it be restricted to solving disputes. For example if the board of directors wanted to open negotiations for the use of space on a Galcom owned station, would a diplomat be sent first or some other division? In other words would a diplomat be a simple peacekeeper or a part time pimp I would of thought that the diplomats would be involved in at least the early stages of most deals that were proposed by InterCorp or an external contractor. Sorry about so many questions, im just trying to get a better idea of how others envisage this group.
  19. So I need think of a name and structure of the division. Can you give me links or PM your charters for examples of how youve set up. Who are the directors at the moment, is it just you and Jeffrey Eu at the moment? and how many members are there?
  20. If I was to be a director, would I then still be a diplomat for hire or would I be the diplomat for Intercorp? Until there are more diplomats I guess I could do both. [ 10-13-2001: Message edited by: TRD ]
  21. How would a diplomat work within Intercorp? Would they work? Would the diplomats be involved in internal issues, such as negotiations with the individual branches and divisions? Also would they be diplomats for Intercorp as an organisation or for whoever wants to hire them? Maybe both?
  22. quote:Originally posted by Riga: On another note: would you be interested, as a diplomat, to found a new diplomat division? Intercorp Unlimited is still looking for directors What would that involve? Payrise maybe?
  23. A diplomat I shall be, making all that money was very tempting though. I noticed that most are Terran, is there a reason for that, or just down to prefference? Can I pick any race? Also, Ive lost my v1 manual which of the races have cybernetic implants? [ 10-12-2001: Message edited by: TRD ]
  24. I was thinking of being a Diplomat, but there arent any others. If not that, then definately a Trader. Is Oct 15 a cut off point/release date or something? [ 10-11-2001: Message edited by: TRD ]
