hi, I just started playing BCM seriously and I am already taken by it. I must confess, I dreamt of this game when playing ELITE back in the late '80s.

just played a few instant scenarios so far, but did have surprisingly less problems than expected (because of the complexity of the whole simulation)

I do wonder how a multiplayer session does normally unfold. is there some log anywhere to find out?

barely can wait to dive deeper into this game...

Yeah its a very deep, complex game and its a lot of fun. unfortunatly there are never really any servers for bcmg. You will find that it's kinda overshadowed by Universal combat, all the servers are for that now.

But to answer your question, a friend and i played a multiplayer session for a while and loved it. We just hung around farstar, jumping round the system, and collecting any cargo pods. Which of course we fought over because we had to give everything away to afford radine. Basically the multiplayer game is much better because there is someone you can relate to either with you or against you. On multiplayer, NEVER ignore your tactical officer when she says "theres something out there" because it will be the biggest (and last) mistake you ever made.

Captain, do you mean you have BCM or BCMG because BCM doesn't support MP, however BCMG does, but doesn't usually have servers for it.

I have BCM, but am waiting to get UC when I finally rehook up my PC. Long-story short it won't be anytime in the forseeable future.

...of courses I have BCMG, would be foolish to buy just BCM in these days

got UC, too, in the meantime. but first doing some BCMG before making the next step. had some trouble with starting the multiplayer-exe of BCMG, must figure out this first. and then trying the dedi-server of BCMG.

Really, why is it that all the really good games are either ignored or misjudged, while the likes of :shudder: The Sims: Overpriced Expansion Pack #8902 and Generic Doom Clone #65535: Now With Extra Gore proliferate?

Niven was right; there truly ain't no justice. In the meantime, though, at least we can dream of a day when games are judged solely on their quality.

Perhaps we'll have world peace, cold fusion, and a Microsloth product that doesn't suck by then, too.

um, forgive me for speaking the truth, but your exactly right. The reason people go crazy over games likedoom is because those games are simple... pathetically simple... mmm... If only just a few more people woke up and realised that that is the 3249th head they have blown off a monster in doom.

Well as for the sims... its ok... but gets boring quickly

I enjoy playing games that require more thought than bashing the "fire" button, AKA battlecruiser. The thing that got me hooked on this was the freedom of it.
