You answer the guys question then.

I think the one to ask... is the one WHO DEVELOPED THE TECHNIQUE!

*Turns dramatically and points at Enigma!*

YOU TEACH US GREAT KNOWLEDGE! WE GAIN GREAT SKILL! TEACH NOW!

yes, please just tell us. So far, this has been just nothing but worthless chatter. Just tell us HOW to get our Crew's AI to increase

There is no instant fix. You have to play the game several days, game time.

Gradually,the crews AI will improve.

Hey, I don't know if anyone is still following this thread, but I'm testing DF and BA training strategies in UC 2.30 at this thread (I apologize for the long link, I'm not sure how to present it as a single word).

Edit:Okay, I decided to look up how to do it and save everybodys' eyes. The link is here.

You know i found it easy to take out enemy ships with just my PTA a s-fighter got to close one day and all i hear was WAM SMACK BLAST! and all of a sudden he shows up grey on the radar (disabled) so i finished him off with a nice missle just for the hell of it.

But if you want to have a good idea of how to "train" your fighters just set them on patrol in area's like earth and pluto set each one to defend the other (escort) so if you set out FC 1 2 and 3 it should be like this

FC-1 Orders Patrol

FC-2 Orders Escort FC-1

FC-3 Orders Escort FC-2

who is going to escort FC-3 you ask? FC-1 because its in patrol mode =P so thus it will attack any enemy ships or atleast thats my understanding of it if im wrong let me know =)

Oh yeah keep in mind after 1 stright hour of flying around your FC's will get to around 25% reactor charge and should be RTB and rotate your fighters.

Thanks for the tip underlord, but I'm having problems getting any kind of df or ba skill increase in any fighter craft while using UC. I'm starting to suspect a... well... a-- bug.

It's obviously too early to say this with any certainty, if you follow the link I posted, you'll see that there are still a fair number of hypotheses I haven't tested yet. But the complete lack of ANY points after a week of solid testing does make me wonder if some setting didn't get accidentally changed in the transition between BCM and UC. Prior to UC, lots of people report DF and BA increases, but after UC, no one has reported such an event.

Since UC is no longer supported, it isn't something I want to pester the SC with until I'm sure it IS a problem, and moreover that the problem remains with the more recent versions of the game (which I haven't gotten yet). I assume if something got accidentally changed in UC it will stay that way in future until it gets specifically checked. So that's what I'm trying to do... check it. I'm still operating under the assumption that there's nothing wrong with the game and that it's just a matter of play style, or finding the right technique. Anyway, if anyone's interested, I'm still carrying on my hypothesis testing over in the UC gameplay forum.

You must be nuts. That code hasn't changed since the original BC3K was released.

You either accept the explanation or you don't. Either way, it makes no difference to me whatsoever.

I'll help you check it out tonight i'll run some test and more over i do get in alot of long dog fights and i hate it so thats about the time i send out a 2ed or 3rd ship to help dispatch the enemy.

But then again you know.....If my DF or BA dosnt go up after awhile we'll see whats up.

What level AI do your units have? like 30 or 40 or 50? or what?

First, please be aware that this is a slightly older post, and predates your recent reply to my thread in the UC gameplay forum; I don't want you to think that I'm ignoring your responses to my posts. And incidentally, I appreciate your attention, you've been regularly reading and responding to my questions, and been very forthcoming with information.

Second, please understand that I don't doubt your explanation for how it works in the slightest. I'm sure that's exactly how the system was designed. The problem is, nobody I've spoken to seems to have ever observed DF or BA to increase in UC. Obviously, I can only make this determination based on what I have observed, or what has been reported to me. Since not many people have brought this problem up in the forums, I've assumed that other people haven't had any problem training DF and BA. However, despite a fair amount of action on the forum, nobody has posted any reports of such an increase in UC in response to my questions. That could either suggest that they don't have examples, that they don't remember or care, or that they're ignoring me. As for myself I'm in the process of conducting some pretty extensive testing on this phenomenon, and I'm reporting what I've seen. What I've seen is no increase in DF or BA despite testing many different approaches to training it. Perhaps it's a hazard of my profession, but I want to understand the conditions under which DF and BA increase, since it seems to be very difficult to improve these skills through normal gameplay.

If you feel that I'm causing trouble, or being disrespectful, I apologize, and I'll stop posting my findings here. I do feel that a better understanding of why this happens (or doesn't happen) would be beneficial to the knowledge base of the community, and might even provide useful information for future BC/UC projects. I really don't mean to be annoying or make trouble, I'm just trying to understand an anomaly in my observations.

I understand that "bug" is a word with a very specific meaning, and I may have used it inaccurately. Given the enormous complexity of the UC system, it is very likely that unintended conflicts or consequences might have arisen as a result of interactions among large numbers of variables (you mentioned 700+ in your post). It is generally held in the modeling and simulation community that as a sim system becomes increasingly complex, these unintended features become more and more prevalent. It is my concern that such an interaction may have occurred that resulted in an increase in the difficulty of obtaining measurable increases in DF and BA beyond what was intended.

Hi underlord. Thanks so much for offering to help out, I'd really appreciate a second opinion. I'm concerned that I may be doing something stupid that I'm overlooking because I've been doing it for so long. Right now my pilots are in the mid forties to the low fifties in AI. I've tested this both with and without the invulnerability cheat enabled and seen no difference, so you decide which to use.

What are the current stats for your DF and BA? the numbers displayed?

Here is something to try.

have a pilot and co-pilot in each ship. This will only give you 4 ships to test with but with both there one can fly the other can target (or atleast i'd imagine) Then go up against some ground targets...lots of em lots.....do this for several hours on end all at once or in increments (Saving as you quit) Then see if there skills increase have 2 attacking and 2 protecting you can try that or for DF get in a fight with a stormcarrier when it looks like your guys ships are about to go kaboom bring them in. fix it up launch again do this as much as possible.

I'd also suggest trying to get your pilots AI to 90-100% before doing bombing runs ect. But we'll see won't we.

Not sure I understand, Underlord. Why would your starting DF and BA numbers match mine? They're randomly assigned when you start a new game. And since DF and BA don't seem to change, they stay at whatever random number was assigned.

Ehh okie i dunno i just thought maybe there was a chance i know everything else is randomly assisgned but i never really pay attention to DF and BA eaither just AI level most of the time.
