Okay heres the thing thats driveing me nuts.

China has a huge populance its surrounded by people that HATE it - however its becoming more and more "modern" all the time in which case its' going to need lots and lots of "modern" resources (read oil)... now in my mind I see a future where america has taken control of MOST of the worlds oil supply

and communist china and Capatilist America are of course such diffrent view points that only one thing can possibly happen: America stops shipping oil to china who retaliates by going to war (proably nuclear in the end). the real question is:

Can this fate be avoided? are we all doomed to glow in the night? and where are the mirarcle sources of energy? (solar, fusion, fison, etc)

At the present time, China is gathering as much steel as they can get their hands on, which is causing some shortages here in the USA.

The company where my lady works produces steel reinforcement products for construction and they have suffered a crippling shortage of steel needed to make their product. A shortage severe enough to cause them to turn away new customers.

I am certain that China with it's huge population would have enough intelligent people to create alternative energy technologies.

The United States "already has" new technologies for this purpose, but alas we will not be seeing them soon.

The New World Order is not going to allow that to happen because they are making billions in profits from fossil fuels today, and the economic gains that can be made by depleting the oil supply first, and then rolling out the new technologies is mind boggling.

This would put the United States at the forefront of global energy, effectively putting a stranglehold on the rest of the world.

Every nation on the planet will be at our beck' and call.

Can you say "GROVEL"? or "Federal Empire"?

As Jaguar is so fond of saying, " History repeats itself" and Rome is poised to rise from the ashes.

It has always been my observation, that China, would be the one to eventually step in, and BLIND SIDE America, when we americans, become too secure in our ILLUSION of superiority, and push the world too far.

American's still have an illusion, that the REST of the world is primitive, in their advances, but this is simply NOT true.

China,is not as wasteful or as willing to spend large amount of resource, in the development of the advanced technological knowledge learned, for the unecessary luxury of being deamed THE world leader. Most likely, because of the huge geographical borders, they are required to maintain, as well as their large population.

We Americans, suffer from this well publicized ideology, that we have technological superiority. When, in all reality, the ONLY superiority which we maintain, are the satellite net surrounding the planet, and the remote guidence missile systems we use in combat, which keeps us immune, from recourse, when we kill. And,of course, our large depository of nuclear subs, and ICBMS.

The LATTER 2 Items are our REAL advantage(as they have been since post WW2), as the previous can, and WILL BE circumnavigated by ANY enemy with common knowledge, in the field of electromagnetic digital communication, and the weakness's of LOGIC controlled microcomputer devices. AND CHINA has become a master, in these areas!!

The REAL SAD part, is how WE, as Americans, have allowed our own country's PROPAGANDA to influence us into such an ILLUSION, that our leaders, can manipulate us into ACCEPTING their arrogant behavior, presently being presented to the WORLD.

And, even WORSE, is that the AVERAGE American, STILL believes, PROPAGANDA has no effect on their thinking, and they are truly FREE.

The TRUTH of the matter is: "Multiple warhead long range NUCLEAR missiles" are the ONLY thing, which maintains our superiority in the world.

THUS: the NEED for the ARMS PROLIFERATION ENFORCEMENT we actively and agressivly pursue TODAY..as a nation.

China has discovered, along with what was the old Soviet Union, that the only way to prosper is with a Free Market economy.

They are moving in that direction, the problem is that when a free market economy takes hold, the governmental change that it requires will blindside them.

China may seem like a huge tiger waiting in the woods to jump us, but it ain't gonna happen.

China is in the middle of it's industrial revolution, and free market revolution, If the Chinese government attempts to expand, it will literally lose control of it's people within.

They have practically left Hong Kong alone, they have of course tried to have some control over what happens within it politically, but economically they cannot afford to kill their golden goose.

We are also the majority of whom buys the products from China, we are also their golden goos, and if they attack us or anyone else, then their economic goose is cooked, and all other options are moot, because the Chinese people are beginning to feel the tug of a free market economy, and will reign in those that will destroy their newfound prosperity.

Ignore the America haters and their conspiracy theories.

What is happening in the world needs to happen, to get the nuts under control, to keep the oil supply intact, and to change over the last vestiges of a failed governmental system into the modern world of democracies and republics.

It's happening and will continue to happen, and this new world order nonsense is just that, nonsense.

We are the Strongest country economically and militarily in the world, and nothing is going to change that, except of course if we get a wheenie like Kerry in the office of the president who will then give China MORE military technology to make it fair, because it is NOT fair that we are the world's only superpower and we must somehow and for some reason feel guilty about it.

BS, we are the ONLY superpower because we earned that place in the economic ladder, as we watch Germany and France and other socialist countries fall by the wayside as they destroy their economies with their socialistic and guilt ridden policies, we continue to show the world what a free market economy can do. Now, if we can somehow get rid of the socialists in the Democratic party, or rid ourselves of that failed party totally, we will keep that place and continue to reform other countries that wish to be prosperous as well.

LOL.. yeah jag, right!!.., but again..to each their own.

The perspective that you preach, has SOME validity; however, so does mine!.

I would submit: The REALITY of the whole, lies somewhere,in and between; either of OUR personal philosophies.

My whole point is MORE relevant to the unrealistic assumption which is being expressed by your TYPE of philosophy.(i.e. That which is filled with PRIDE and ARROGANCE concerning our TRUE position in the world.) This PARTICULAR perspective, has ALWAYS been: "the beginning of the downfall", of EVERY great power in history. It would be LUDICRUS to assume, WE are an UNSINKABLE ship, regardless of our might, in weapondry.

In Addition, as YOU YOURSELF have quoted, and many a great man, in history has said: "History has a way of repeating itself. with THIS one point, I AGREE!!

But, to IGNORE, the imorality, of ANY act, by ones own government(when people have a say within it) is self-induced blindness, REGARDLESS of whether one believes the course of action is, in fact, the CORRECT course.

Is there NOTHING, we can find common ground, concerning? Then attempt to UNDERSTAND the WHY of our opposed positions??..or must we continue to be at odds, in EVERY thought presented...just for THAT sake alone???

Heh, Speaking of asia. Did you guys know that Japan is the number two global economy. Next to ours. And Wal-Mart is thirty-four or some such number. Anyway they're catching up. Yay! rich Samurai

(just to say in relation to last sentance. I deeply respect Japan and mean no offense by it. Infact I have an even deeper respect for feudal Japan. So no disrespect intended.)

It's only a matter of time until Wal-Mart declares itself to be its own nation. But anyway, I think it is a bit silly to say that China and America are going to go to war eventually simply because they're Chinese and we're American. Right now, they're sitting on their side of the Pacific, and we're sitting on our side, and neither of us have a motivation to disrupt the peace. If we do get into a war, I think it would most likely result from a conflict somewhere else in the world, and the US and China stepping in on opposite sides.

Oh, and about the energy sources: solar power is a joke, fission creates large amounts of toxic waste, and fusion is 25-50 years away.

And this thing about hydro power not being legal for homeowners is nonsense as well.

A friend of mine lives near a river and has 2 electric motors in the river to make electricity, he has never had any trouble with anyone.

I am looking for property right now where I have a river and a southern exposure, as well as a hill, the hill is mainly for my ham radio antennas, but it is also for windpower. If I can get all three, and a big enough battery reserve, I will never have to be hooked up to the grid at all.

Nothing illegal about it, it will cost around 20 grand by the time I am done, but will never have to depend on the grid for power again.

Also, just FYI, I won't shop at Walmart, I refuse, I will not support a company with the business practices that they practice.

I will never have to be hooked up to the grid at all.

Ages ago I read about a guy in illinois or somewhere that had his own power system. Ten car batteries in series make 120 volts. Take several series and run them parallel to up the amperage. All powered by a windmill or so.

He did that before the power company would even consider coming out to his house. When they finally got close enough they BEGGED him to get on the grid and he wouldn't do it.

No one has turned him in, as of yet. This would be the only reason. It is, in fact against the law, I am sure you would see, if you would check local, county, and state laws. Just because one gets away with breaking the law, does NOT mean it is nonsense, when one speaks concerning that which is regulated by law.

Again, live out in the boonies, and the proper agency does not know...your fine;however, Live in most counties, and EVERY city, and it is ILLEGAL to live in a house, which is NOT connected to the grid. You do not have to USE their electricity, but you have to be hooked up, in order to legally live in the home.

Sure!..there ARE always exceptions, but this is purely relevant to geographical location. Most of these locations, where it is allowed, are to far from civilization, and are not practical to MOST people. My self included. I rather enjoy, being able to go out to eat, once in a while, to say the least.

You would WANT to be hooked up to the grid. As far as I know, the power company is legally required to pay you if put more power into the grid than you use (running the meter backwards, in other words).

That is one of my dad's ideas, to set up a whole bunch of little windmills and live off of the money that they would make, feeding power back into the grid.

I don't think you can do that. You would have to at least shut it down if the grid your on looses power, the repair crews could get shocked while repairing the the line.

Utility employees should be using proper lockout/tagout procedure to isolate what they are working on. Getting shocked would be a danger in any case, if the line suddenly went live when they were working on it in normal situations.

Check this out.

In california and here in Washington state, if you create more power then you use, then your meter does indeed run backwaeds. The lineman, just as was said above, should NOT get electrocuted because you are applying power to the grid, because he should be following the proper procedures not to let that happen.

Ok, I can agree on the first part.

The second part I don't know, In my area if you have a backup generator the first thing they will ask you is to make sure that the generator is disconnected from the grid. I think Street(lineman experience?) might be able to answer this question better. I don't think they can do proper lockout tag out if you are putting power into the grid.

Yes, if you have a backup generator, then yes, you need a lockout built into your house, but if the power company KNOWS that you have full time power generation, then they know what precautions they need to take around the lines that lead to you home.
