Matchoo
quote: The record price of oil ÔÇ£means a lot more profit for this presidentÔÇÖs friends in the oil industry. But for most middle class Americans, the Bush tax increase is a tax increase that they canÔÇÖt afford,ÔÇØ Kerry said in New Mexico. If the above statement is true, and the price of oil is being controlled by "Bush's" friends, wouldn't it make more sense that they would LOWER the price of oil this close to the election to make it look like Bush is doing a great job so he will get re-elected, then afterwards they could raise the price for another 4 years? Looks to me that Kerry is trying everything he can to make Bush look bad, even on things that Bush has no control over. (just my opinion, though)
Vanor
quote:Looks to me that Kerry is trying everything he can to make Bush look bad, even on things that Bush has no control over.Of course he is. By making Pres. Bush look bad, it makes it easier for him to be elected. This is a common ploy used by someone running for office against a incumbent. Given the serrious lack of creditablity that Kerry has, and lack of any real solid plan for making this country better, his only real option is to make him look better then Pres Bush in comparison. To do that, he has to make Pres Bush look bad.
Kalshion
He is Matchoo (Kerry that is) Anyone with a brain, would know that the reason for high gas prices is because the suppliers of our oil are raising the prices themselves The higher the barral of oil, the higher the cost of gas. In other word's these oil company's are making every attempt to strip America of it's ability to move This rise in oil cost CAN be stopped... but only if american's can there head's out of there butts and start protesting AGAINST the oil companys and NOT against the president, who has more important issue's to worry about (like national security, over sea's issue's, in other words issue's that threaten our country... quite frankly, high oil price's don't threaten our country... besides, isn't that what a BIKE is for? If you can't afford to buy gas for you're car then get yourself a bike, that's what I use to get to work )
Matchoo
Sorry, I guess I titled this topic wrong. What I meant was I don't get how people could actually believe Kerry on this item (or most items really). Using a little common sense a person should be able to see that raising oil prices hurts Bush, not helps him, therefore the people raising the prices probably aren't his friends. Therefore Kerry's statement is nothing more than an attempt to bash Bush and make himself look better. Hopefully more people will realize this. LostInSpace
quote:Originally posted by Matchoo: Hopefully more people will realize this. I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Alot are so blinded by Bush hate it's a crime. I myself don't hate Kerry. He's probably an okay guy but his policies (or lack there of) just aren't good for americans no matter how much he tries to sell us "I have a Plan". His wife is another story altogether she's an uncouth european just for that alone I wouldn't vote for Kerry even if he had good plans for america. Charles Lindsey
quote:Alot are so blinded by Bush hate it's a crime. I myself don't hate Kerry.Hmmm more anti-hate hate. Hmmmm. Anyway this is just standard election year rhetoric. Then again, some people have analyzed the rise of the price of gas prior to the summer season versus the rise of the price of gas now. The percentages do seem to conclude price gouging previously and then being held artificially low now. But wait, there's more; wait till till the current cost of crude filters through the system. Ouch. But I will say this is all just rhetoric.
