AMD edges Intel in early dual-core benchmarks

Recommended Posts

Zdnet: Both Anandtech and Tom's Hardware--two hardware benchmarking sites--have published reports stating that, in their own tests, the dual-core Athlon 64 X2 chips generally edge out the Intel Pentium D and the dual-core Pentium 4 Extreme Edition, although the results vary by the tests.

Still, the sites also cautioned against consumer euphoria. The dual-core Athlon chips range in price from $537 to $1,001, substantially more than most desktop chips on the market, while Intel's are mostly in the $241 to $530 range, with one $999 chip.

Well there's a turn around. It use to be the AMD that was the cheaper.

Not surprising, considering that AMD already has the fastest chip on the market right now and they're running at full capacity. I guess they figure, why keep giving the stuff away when there's such a huge demand for more. I know my next system will most likly have an AMD64 Chip inside, their 2Ghz 64 chip runs FASTER than intel's 3Ghz chips, so it's no wonder now that everyone wants AMD.
