JCMan
Annoying indeed, but just another example of our government being unprepared to deal with the new age of internal war. If they keep it up they will oppress people more then help them. When you oppress people too much, you have a state of Anarchy..... What's kina odd is if you play a lot of War games you tend to read between the lines of the game. You understand how to win. You end up seeing that you can win using internal warfare and an occasional spy here and there to conqueror entire nations easier than throwing thousands of your militia at them. In fact, I saw a news thing on about the wargames of 2002 I think. It was our generals vs terrorists on their turf. The terrorists were controlled by some of the best, and our side was also(supposedly). They showed that if the terrorists used all the weapons at hand, and most everything they could get on the black market(And there's ALOT there), even throwing a massive force at them head on couldn't destroy them all without suffering MAJOR casualties. Thing about it is, the US generals used the common "Massed rush and swarm" Tactic , and the opposition used the "Hide and pick them off from strategic locations" tactic. In fact, the US side was getting it's butt kicked so badly the Admins had to SEVERELY restrict the opposition abilities . O yea, and the admins disappeared a lot of the Opp's units to make it ez for the US. They had the guy behind the Opp's force complaining that the US forces are not ready and that he got "cheated" after it was all over. He also complained that if we had better trained people in the chair behind the US forces they wouldn't have been scratched. That's how I remember it anyway. Mabie somebody has seen this news report also? Either way, this is sad. And yes I play too many wargames.
Soback
Yes, to the big brother, a camera in every bedroom, we'll tell you when to sleep, what to eat, and if it's ok to breathe, did we mention we'll also take 75% of what you make for all the "services" (protection money) that we mandatory "offer". Epsilon 5
i cannot confirm, but i did hear sometihng about a iraqi/usa wargame simulation using probable iraqi armament, and in the end it resulted in the "iraqi generals" to sink the US carrier with scud missiles. Then the rules were changed so the iraqi must destroy all the escorts before touching the carrier Oh and i was fortunate enough to find an extract from one of Deus Ex's datapads using a Google result. In the game the datapad was found somewhere in Hell's kitchen, i think near Paul Denton's apartment. For those unfortunate enouhg not to have played the game, the context is based on the NSF that's attacking vaccine shipments for an epidemic that's killing many people everywhere in the US, and that destroyed (for the most part) the Liberty Statue. quote:Be Safe: Be Suspicious Terrorism has become an unfortunate fact of life not only in New York but the country at large, a direct assault on our communities and our way of life that leaves citizens struggling to find answers to difficult questions, not the least of which is "What can I do to prevent such atrocities? How can I help?" Quite simply, terrorism is successful because terrorists are able to pass unnoticed and unremarked upon - but they fail to count on the best intelligence network ever devised: the American people. How can you tell who might be a terrorist? Look for the following characteristics: * A stranger or foreigner. * Argumentative, especially about politics or philosophy. * Probing questions about your work, particularly high-tech. * Spends a greater than average amount of time on the Net. * Interests in chemistry, electronics, or computers. * Large numbers of mail-order deliveries. * Taking photographs of major landmarks. And those are just a few. If you're suspicious, then turn them in to your local law enforcement for a thorough background check. Better safe than sorry. You and your neighbors will sleep more securely knowing that you're watching each other's back.

Wolferz
Chalk up another one for the terrorists. It's the oldest ploy of warfare ever devised. Devide and Conquer Paranoia will be the end of our way of life if allowed to continue in this manner. Let's all buy loads of guns and ammo and head for the hills,There's a terrorist behind every bush. Everyone is going... What's next? Will our wise government begin drafting every citizen into an antiterror militia? Mark of the beast on your forehead so they can tell who belongs here and who doesn't? Next stop: Martyr city. It's getting really old now. I'll just sit back and watch in mild amusement as the Apocalypse approaches.

It was a joint training exercise with UK and US forces simulating a war with Iraq. The UK forces were representing the Iraqis. Basically 2 hours into the start of the exercise some Royal Marines came along side the carrier, (Enterprise?), and shouted Boom! The idea being that the boat was packed with enough explosives to sink the carrier. Because the carrier had most of the US force aboard, the action effectively ended the exercise. The US commander, however, got stroppy and insisted that the exercise be restarted, with the conditions Epsilon 5 mentioned. Talk about sore losers.
