Papi Report post Posted September 25, 2004 Has anyone tried this one yet? Microsoft released the source code for Allegiance in February and announced it free. Fanbase is rolling systems now. I haven't tried it yet, but I have downloaded and installed it.
Kartoffel Report post Posted September 25, 2004 I had discovered it a few months ago through HOTU, and fell in love with it. Been spending a bit too much time on this, instead of UC. (sorry ShoHashi) Describing it, in a nutshell, is Freespace (with semi-newtonian physics) meets Starcraft. It's a space sim with a commander who basically plays the game like an RTS. Wolfheart Report post Posted September 25, 2004 Its very good, you have to spend some time to get familier but they have a noob only server to practice and considering Im posting this on BC forums you probably wouldnt mind it. But the maps are very small,I mean VERY small. PS.And the speed is great,I was able to play it with a 128bit adsl and it was as smooth as single player. Scrivener Report post Posted September 26, 2004 Wow, I thought Allegiance died years ago. The susbscription model didn't work so great for non RPGs (Planetside is the only example of a game defying this rule). I was actually a QA tester on that. I'm really glad to see it still has some life, it's a great game.
