Gryphon Report post Posted May 10, 2005 All, Found a new one. Still in development and no demo available. And, unfortunately, according to A Talent for War the developer has cancelled it for the time being --- he has run out of money, among other reasons. Regardless, it has a gorgeous visual style and certainly looked promising. Maybe some of you filthy rich forumers can finance it Eschaton: Chain of Command

Gryphon Report post Posted May 14, 2005 Cellblock Squadrons This one looks GOOD. Here's a quote from the site: Delve into a future world where every criminal has a debt to society, and the darkness of space is where it's to be repayed. Join in missions with up to 99 other criminals and earn your freedom, so that one day, you can finally go home. Choose from five small craft and experience reflex busting gameplay, randomized weapon placements and some time in solitary confinement, as you fight against more than forty enemy battleships, bent on your entire squad's destruction. You're not going to save the universe... this time, you're only going to save yourself.

Cruis. In Report post Posted May 24, 2005 um maybe this can be renamed to smaller developer games instead of sims.. Hostile Space No description by developers. Stellar Frontier Stellar Frontier is a real-time multimedia 2-D action/strategy multiplayer internet game where you compete against (and cooperate with) other players around the world via the internet or a private intranet. There is no greater joy than commanding your own starship in real-time, patrolling the solar system in search of your enemies. To play Stellar Frontier, you will need a computer running OS/2 Warp 3.0, OS/2 Warp 4.0, Windows 95/98, or Windows NT 4/5. Stellar Frontier is enhanced with full multimedia and network capabilities, but if you are not hooked up to a network, there is a single player mode, complete with computer opponents. In short, our goal with Stellar Frontier is to use whatever enhancements your computer offers to give maximum enjoyment to computer technophiles without excluding gamers with lower end configurations. We have greatly enjoyed developing and testing Stellar Frontier and we're sure that you will too.

Mano Faber Report post Posted May 27, 2005 This looks pretty cool Drop Team It runs on Windows XP, Linux and MacOS with multiplay. Some points from the features which seem interesting. * Deformable terrain with engineering vehicles digging out trenches in real time, ordnance created surface cratering and even trees toppling over under artillery fire. * Huge, detailed and varied alien landscapes each planet accurately modeling its own gravity and atmospheric density, radically changing the tactical situation. From the forums i understand that there be no infantry in the intitial version. Probably later with an add-on.

Asso Report post Posted June 9, 2005 ABA Games You'll find some pretty good freeware shoot 'em ups there. Take a look, they're under the "Windows" category. My fav is rRootage, it features different game styles from different games, like the Dreamcast games GigaWing (GW mode) and Ikaruga (IKA mode).

It also looks like they just modified the Starflight engine. If you look at the screen shot section, the second shot in the first row, the earth orbital scan, exactly the same menu font and all around look to it. Not that that is a bad thing just an observation.
jamotto Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Anacreon An update to the 1988 game of the same name quote:The mechanics of the game are simple. Each player assumes the role of a totalitarian ruler of a small galactic empire. Every player in turn examines status reports and issues orders each year, a simple process that includes determining which worlds can become colonies and deploying fleets to conquer them. Once all players have taken their turn, the computer updates all the worlds in the galaxy and the next year begins. There are no formal victory conditaions in the game, so a game doesn't ever have to end.
