Raziel Report post Posted June 19, 2010 Through happy chance I was able to get a copy of Window 7 Pro upgrade really cheap through work. I had a mind numbing time trying to get it to install. (Note for other users, if you are upgrading XP 32-bit to W7 64-bit. Go here to get the USB install tool and Here to make it work. to save yourself similar headache. After using a work around to get the process started, it was a breeze. As for th OS itself... I think that says it all. Just wanted to gush and say I love Windows all over again! Kalshion Report post Posted June 20, 2010 To save yourself a bigger headache, don't bother buying the upgrade version. Just buy the full version, using an upgrade version usually curtails headaches
Raziel Report post Posted June 20, 2010 At almost 3 times the cost and since you can use the upgrade version to do a clean install anyhow, not a whole lot of point doing it any other way.
canshow Report post Posted June 20, 2010 Hehe, same here Raziel. It was a tough cookie to crack when i was putting W7 ultimate over my windows vista. But yeah, the OS speaks for itself. Pretty nice
Nwah Report post Posted June 20, 2010 I'll probably end up riding XP out for now, though games are getting very close to requiring more ram than I have....
canshow Report post Posted June 20, 2010 IIRC, can't XPs hold up to 4 GB ram?
RT Report post Posted June 20, 2010 32 bits versions can only address 3.2GB, you need a 64bits version to use more than that.
Nwah Report post Posted June 20, 2010 Yup, thats why I said they're close to requiring more than I have. If I want to keep dual channel I'll have to go 64 bit I believe.
