Chris Roberts....is back

Recommended Posts

Well, this is the big reveal. Since it is going to cost millions, I have my doubts that it will be completed, let alone be able to pull it off properly. It is just too ambitious for today's gaming scene. In fact, when he said "instanced" combat, I immediately lost interest.

depends on the instance. even eve has clever instances, called grids about 600km long/wide. If you fly off the grid, you can no longer bee seen on the overview. I plegded. looking to upgrade.

I was curious to see what the opinions were going to be here about Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous. It's safe to say that most of us have high hopes for both projects, but the risk of getting disappointed yet again always remains. I hope Derek is wrong about this, but unfortunately he hardly ever is. At least the fund raising was quite successful for SC. All they have to do now is make it happen.

Unfortunately this is not 1982 when elite first came out. Sophistication was new. So the more sophisticated it was the more people wanted it. That is not true anymore.

A huge campaign stretching a galaxy. Seriously. People run away. But in 1982 everyone would want it.

Simulations may be going more and more niche. Elite dangerous sounds way too hardcore and huge. Whereas the galactic command battlefield is more reasonable.

I just bought the prototype for Limit Theory, it's like Universal Combat on steroids: http://ltheory.com/

Playing around with the prototype it's absolutely amazing but just lacks something UC has, it doesn't have the 'i'm commanding a capital ship' feel to it, the UI just makes you feel like you're superman flying around in space with a cape it just doesn't feel right. There's no HUD but apparently after the beta release there'll be modding capability, I hope someone makes a HUD similar to UC's.

SC looks good but Limit Theory has the edge IMO.

E:D looks amazing but I'm disappointed it's only multiplayer. Most online gamers are a-holes, hackers, aimbotters, radar hackers etc etc no thanks.
