  1. Good evening, Cmdr. Somerset. I'm honored to be accepted in SIN Wing and look forward to working with you. Best Regards ------------------ Commander Steele GCV Terra Kresta Stealth is the only thing between you and your enemy's guns...
  2. Hi! I'd just like to say hello to everyone since I'm new on this board. My specialities are SAR, ship resupply, tow-away, immediate repairs, maintenance, cargo/drop runs, deep-core supply, spy inertion / supply / evac / rescue, troop drops / transport, VIP transport, emergency defense of ships in need, "paramedic", escape pod recovery, etc. etc. I'm already proudly affiliated with Wraith Fleet, my S.I.N.-Wing application is currently pending. Best Regards! Cmdr. Steele ------------------ Commander Steele GCV Terra Kresta Stealth is the only thing between you and your enemy's guns...
  3. Hi again! I'd hereby like to "publish" my decision to join S.I.N. Wing. Thanks for all invitations to other arms, but I think S.I.N. will suit me best (and maybe give me some time for SAR if needed, otherwise I'll have to take me the time >:]) Greetings Cmdr. Steele ------------------ Commander Steele GCV Terra Kresta Stealth is the only thing between you and your enemy's guns...
  4. Good afternoon, Commanders! Yesterday, I established a Wraith Fleet office in Commander's Village. Luckily, I found some space very close to GALCOM-HQ and the arrival-plaza. It is not very large, but I can add levels at any time. Beam to the coordniates 973N 908E and face south to see the (raw) building. (The interior is yet to come, but on the first level, there are two roomy glass-offices, enough space for a reception as well as several information consoles [which will be linking to the Wraith-Fleet Webpage!] Please feel free to post any comments or ideas you might have. Best regards. ------------------ Commander Steele GCV Terra Kresta Stealth is the only thing between you and your enemy's guns...
  5. Good evening, Commanders! I am the CO of the (former) UCV Terra Kresta, which now proudly bears the GCV Tag, and I would just like to introduce myself to all of you due to my signup at Wraith Fleet (special regards and thanks to TAC for his time and patience :] ). My specialities are SAR, ship resupply, tow-away, immediate repairs, maintenance, cargo/drop runs, deep-core supply, spy inertion / supply / evac / rescue, troop drops / transport, VIP transport, emergency defense of ships in need, "paramedic", escape pod recovery, etc. etc. So, if you're out in space and find yourself short on Capella Sparkling Table-Water, just wrecked your ship, have been forced to take a "longer" space-walk, or just want to get from A to B, just leave me a message, I'll do my best to be there ASAP :] Best Regards Commander Steele GCV Terra Kresta Wraith Fleet "Stealth is the only thing between you and your enemy's guns"
  6. Hi! I'm new here and don't know the interface of any of the BC versions (not anymore ;] ), but I'll explain the difference between active and passive radar to you . You can compare it to a submarine, which uses sonar instead of radar to locate objects (the basic principles are almost the same...) If a sub uses ACTIVE sonar, it means it emits a loud "PING", and then listenes for possible echos indicating an object in the water. The delay between the emission and the return of the "PING" lets you derive the exact distance between you and your target. (You'll even find out heading, speed and course if you track it for a while, giving you every information you need for a firing-solution...). The advantage of ACTIVE scanning is the increased range, precision and general detection reliability. The DISadvantage of ACTIVE scanning is that you are giving away your exact position (because you are making noise!), and even if someone was not able to localize you (maybe because the signal was too short to derive anything from it), he will at least be aware of your presence, which means you can consider a deep-core mission like Spy inertion FAILED. PASSIVE SCANNING means YOU are the one to listen to enemy radar emmissions, providing you with target information WITHOUT trading away your own position (/existence). The DISadvantage of passive scanning is the fact, that you won't be able to "hear" things that don't make "noise" : If a hostile ship hides somewhere with its radar switched to "listen-only", you risk being shot at without even knowing by whom... So, always remember: EVERY active device emits signals. Signals can be detected. Detected signals provide your enemies with a firing-solution or a target-lock on you. A hostile target-lock is definitely going to be a pain in your ass. Best Regards Cmdr. Steele GCV Terra Kresta
