Well I still don't consider myself a Vet here but I do get the feel good feeling when I am able to help one of the fresher players by imparting some of the knowledge I have gained from the rest of you guys
  2. quote:Originally posted by Richard: That's what I usually do. It all went horribly wrong once - the FC was down to about 15% integrity, and once in it I could do NOTHING. No comms, unable to maneuvre, couldn't even eject! I had to abort the game. Does anyone know how badly damaged a fighter can be before it becomes unflyable? It depends what has been damage on the fighter - not necessarily what level of damage. For example a FC could be on 80% integrity but its engine could be shot to bits making it unflyable. Alternatively it is theoretically possible that a fighter be 10% integrity but its flight systems be ok(doubtfull but possible) So there is no set LEVELthat a fighter is unflyable.
  3. Not yet but hopefull! This and BC will be my gaming life soon!
  4. Stupidity/Bravery this is a fine line. Decided to take an offensive action into Gammulan territory over the weekend. So as soon as I launched from Lyrius opened Navitron and set course for Gamma2. About 10 jumps into the trip started to run out of fuel so decided I needed to buy more. Finding no friendly stations(obviously) I decided to capture the closest enemy one. So Targeted station(can't remember which one exactly) engaged cloak and jumped in. Attack went like clock work brought shields down and waited for SOS and then docked - successfull capture (and got EP's for it thank you SC). But when I re-launch I relised none of my crew would move around the ship and most of them were reporting as radiated. After a little more research I found 3 of the 4 decks of the ship are now readiated and most of my crew are glowing a healthy green. Having only 1 radiation ctrl unit on board I have to dock and buy two more to clean up all the radiation. So now I'm half way between Lyrius and Gamma1 and running out of fuel and money. My mining drones are on Lyrius(probably just about full now) and I can not get back to retrieve them God I feel stupid!
  5. I have a Thrustmaster Top Gun PRO configured and working well with BCM.

  7. quote:Originally posted by jureidinim: Had that happen once to me too - dead pilots. I put the CC on Auto and told it to hold, then left the CC with my AE and got onboard the fighter and flew it back to the CC myself. Thats what I LOVE about this game - there is always another option.
  8. Ah well - never did make the Beta for EVE - to large a download for my humble 56K to take unfortunatly still may give it a try at some stage. But I think my online gaming is booked. Star Wars Galaxies - coming soon (I hope) BCO - This will complete my online MMORPG sessions! Don't have money time for any more!
  9. quote:Originally posted by MythicalMino: ok...thanks for the responces... Just to clarify...really the only thing you can do by landing on a planet is run around? I can mine from space can't I? While playing Roaming, is it possible that their will be a planet under a ground battle, and take part in that? Sorry if these questions seem kinda basic...but I have never played a game this open ended before...and I am trying to figure out the plusses of landing on a planet, and what is possible for me to do there.... Thanks I'm a great believer of If you can find a War. Start one at least for Planet OPS. - Find a hostile base on the planet.(usually easy enough) - beam your AE/land in a shuttle - and go around taking pot shots!(usually die quickly)or - Use TACOPS and organise a massive strike on the base using your IC's, Shuttes, OC's and Marines to pound the base and then beam your AE down and join the fun(its something to behold I tell you)or - Take an OC for a Joy ride or - Go for a swim with your AE. BC/BCM/BCMG are limited by most what you want to do. So if you want to get involved in planet side combat - do it. It can be done!
  10. quote:Originally posted by Epsilon 5: nice ... note : clicking on pre-order bring you to the store, but BCG in nowhere to be pre-ordered... Yea I found that too! Ah well time to be patient again(What am I on about I haven't got my copy of BCMG yet!)
  11. quote:Originally posted by Spiro: And Like us ( IT ) guy's all ways say.. " If you don't reload Windows every 3 years, you ain't working it.. " < Grin > Thanks for the responce..... Thats optimistic. I usually format and reload every 3 - 6 months.
  12. quote:Originally posted by Eboda: Where the hell are all the boarders coming from? Boarding parties come from other ships in the area quote: I was boarded right as my career started, in front of GalcomHQ. I was boarded in Tau-ceti, I was boarded TWICE in Majoris, once during combat while my EMD was active. Only the last time in Majoris was a ship anyhwere near me. Just because you can not see them does not mean there is not "somthing out there" remember the marvels of cloak technology quote: Where are they coming from? Why cant I board other ships in return? See above and the ability to board other ships is planned for a future release. If I remember right it was not added to BCM/BCMG due to time restraints quote: Why do I have to command each Marine, individualy, to prepair for combat? Dont they have a sergent? Shouldnt they carry their weapons when on duty? One word - Resnig. Don't know what I mean - seatch the forums and all will become clear quote: Is there a way to shut down my suttle launch, but still keep fighters active? How can I re-arm fighters without all my shuttles flying away? Nope sorry launch control is for both shuttles and fighters quote: Why does it take 5 marines to kill one boarder? I sat on Perscan and watched 1 boarder in the shuttle launch bay, 2 marines showed up and died, without hurting the boarder, 3 then came in 2 died with the boarder blow 50%, and the last marine captured him. They will get better with expierence - patience young one they will learn. quote: Sorry about the rant Don't worry we all feel like that sometime just hope I helped somewhat [ 04-28-2003, 02:33 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  13. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Also, sometimes the saved game has loaded, but the game refuses to continue. This would have nothing to do with the saved game, but rather the video subsystem may fail to re-init (it needs to do that each time it starts the game) after previously being shutdown. Hence the reason to get reliable video drivers and/or reduce your acceleration down on notch if you have this problem. Ok after the SC said this I did a bit of hunting on this issue. Like most of you I have a Geforce 4 card(a ti4200) using the 43.51 drivers and direct X 9 installed and I was able to replicate this problem but I also think I found a fix So if you would like to try this and let me know. Right Click your background and select PROPERTIES Display properties go to SETTINGS and click ADVANCED. Click the TROUBLSHOOTING tab and move the HARDWARE ACCELERTION SLIDER one place to the left. {Restart PC if requested} This solved the issue for me but let me know how you get on.
  14. Hold on to her shes a special 'un. Although that been said after how much I went on about BCM when I was on the beta as soon as my wife heard that BCM Gold was coming out she just gave me her knowing look, smiled at me and said "Off course you can buy it!" She knows all too well how much of a BC nut I am (and a SW nut considering she gave me the same warm answer about Star Wars Galaxies)
  15. Thanks for the info but I updated my drivers to the latest 43.51(I think) and that sorted it.
  16. Twitch - I am seeing somewhat the same problem but before I annoy Derek with it I want more research/details. Firstly your profile info is incomplete - what make is your video card. - how long have you been having the problem? - What resolution are you running BCM at? - I don't want to assume this but is this in relation to BCM or BCMG? I need to know more!
  17. Dwilson32, when I first tried BC3K I was overwhelmed. In fact I shelved the game for a few months before coming back to it. After getting used to it however I don't think the learning curve is that hard, once you learn the basics you can be flying around the galaxy fairly quick, the more advanced features take a bit more time. Every game has its way of doing things the BC series is just more involved than others (and ultimatly more rewarding) My advice is to start small - somthing like a fighter pilot or a marine(which will both be definatly given a new lease of live with MP) then once your confident with these move up to something bigger.
  18. quote:Originally posted by Spiro: But The " Clear the Comm File " Crash Is still persistent.. Whats Funny is the BCM Install I just wiped, was Fairly Stable with the last Patch. " Any Takers ? " I'll bite but I need your machine specs. Don't have BCMG myself yet but I'll make what suggestions I can.
  19. Ok don't have BCMG yet but I will give it a try. I assume this happens with just BCMG and not other games ;-) You don't mention what type of soundcard you have but you might try turning down the audio acceleration in DXDIAG (START - RUN - DXDIAG - SOUNDS) Secondly what resolution you running BCMG at - as a troubleshooting step try running at a lower res and try turning off some options(contrails and the like) if this works turn one on at a time till you find the culprit. Thirdly I've already made one assumption in this post(which is frankly more than I am comfortable doing) SO if you don't save immediatly does your machine still reboot. If you play for five minutes and then save do you still get the same problem? Let me know!
  20. I picked up 2.08 retail about two years ago and it spent a few months on my shelf. November before the start of BCM beta testing I first came here. I've been here as often as possible since. Looking forward to the future

  22. Stormcarrier is a Gammulan only vessel, and is the only race restrictive ship in the game.
