21! 21! You kid! Ah well happy birthday anyway and all the best

Lets see I usually mix Flash and Frontpage. Front page is easy enough - if you can use Word you can use Frontpage but my advice learn a bit of HTML(the basics are easy enough) and rip out the Bloat that frontpage adds to the HTML code.

quote:Originally posted by DCZX: One thing I miss is the "bridge view" that was in the old BC3K. I hope it comes back in some form or another in BCG. Does anyone have a list of "things to do" in ROAM mode by any chance? thx DCZX I do believe that somebody asked SC about that once before and I remember him saying that the bridge view would not be making a return. As for a list of things to do! One of the greatest things about BCM is freedom so basically do what you want - If you want to go Gammulan hunting - feel free - If you want to play Gammulan and go Galcom hunting - feel free - If you want to take a HAV for a joy ride on Obsidia - feel free - If you want......... well you get the idea. Roam mode is Freeform - no set missions assigned to you - just go - have fun - Do what you feel.

ok just quickly (I'm running to lunch) the reason I asked about Direct X is I installed DX9 on my pc the other day and then BCM would not run. But when I checked DXDIAG - Direct draw was set as disabled so I re-enabled it and BCM worked fine - give that a check if you haven't already. Post more here if you still have problems

Yea I understand my biggest fear is that one of my kids would go missing on me - I think I would just fall apart - kids quickly become your entire world. Glad to hear good news like this but the last year must have been hell for all involved. Still good to hear some happy news.

Mouse controls sounds sweet SC but it is nice to see joystick still an option I just got Freelancer (demo) and while the mouse control is easy to get used to I would have prefered the option to use my 'stick' god knows I paid enough for it.

quote:Originally posted by SR-71: O.K. This afternoon I'll try again, because yesterday I installed RC36 patch and, something new, the game didn't start running never. Some hard disk activity and... nothing . I remember I executed the patch directly from the CD where I copied it after downloading, so I can believe my patching was a VERY BAD patch as you said. I┬┤ll copy the patch to the BCM install directory before executing. If the game then runs O.K.... I promise to invite you a beer and a suculent meal if you visit Spain some day. Thanks What are you system specs? Check the Archives on how to add your specs to your profile maybe one of us may see a potential problem if we knew your specs. Question did you install a new version of Direct X recently?

Ok first impressions - not bad Space flight/combat does remind me a lot of some Arcade blasters a couple of years ago (anyone remember Afterburner.) Remember I'm talking about the demo still guys. Missions are fairly limited but overall easy to get into and a good blast to play. Having fun so far even if the dialogue is a bit corny/repetative.

"The invader reports we have a trace location sir!" snapped Andromeda's com officer as James settled himself into the command chair on the bridge, "The Invader is moving to assist!" "Exellent lets tag along then and see if we can't find what this is all about. LT commander if you would be so kind!" James smiled at his first in command. "Of course sir," She smiled back. "Ok Navigation plot a paralell course to the invader! Helm give me a 45 Degree starboard turn and line up on the jump gate. Tactical ensure weapons status and have our fighters ready to launch! Engineer prepare the jump drives!" The crew immediatly jumped to carry out their orders and the massive frame of the nightstar carrier started almost immediatly into its turn. "Hyperspace engine fully charged sir!" reported engineering over the com "Ready when you are sir!" Commander Talla smiled. "Excellent!" James smiled suitably impressed with the response of his crew but then he had seen noteable improvements in his crews responses since Commander Talla had joined the crew. He paused for a moment as he let a wiry smile crept onto his face. "Lets go!"

Ok finally got to download the 150MB demo from microsoft today so barring any problems with the burnt cd(I'm doing this from an internet cafe) I will post my first impressions tomorrow. Damn I miss my home internet connection. And I wish I had BROADBAND!

I think I understand what EP 5 is trying to say SC lets see if I can explain/phrase it different. When you have the mouse selected as flight controller and put it into 'flight mode' when you move the mouse left/right(for example) does the cursor stay on the screen and where ever you place your pointer the ship turns towards that heading or when you select 'flight mode' does the mouse cursor disappear/become disabled and moving the mouse act like pushing a joystick in the same direction? I don't know if that helped clear things up any!

James rubbed his beard gently as he pondered Elio's response as he lent forward to reply the com beeped. With a sigh James stood up and thumbed the com panel on the wall. "Go ahead!" he barked "Sir I hate to disturb you but we are receiving a communication from the Lusitania. The strange thing is sir its not coming from the Lusitania!" "And how can that be?" James replied a somewhat quizical look on his countance. "The message header id identifies the Lusitania," the com officer returned, "but it is being received from the com array on our shuttle......Wait thats strange!" "Well don't keep us all in suspense!" James snapped. "The message sir it has stopped but it is not complete we have not received the communication footer!" "What was the Lusitania's last position?" "About three jumps from Pluto sir!" "Very well have our fighters turn around and investigate her last postion but pull our shuttle back, and pipe that message down here!" "Aye sir" With that James flicked off the com system and activated the terminal on his sparse desk. Pulling up the message from the bridge he looked at the message briefly and then without removing his focus from the screen commented. "You two may want to look at this aswell!" and motioned Commander Jason and LT Commander Talla to approach the desk/screen.

Smyth placed the glass back down on the unit beside him and smiled at commander Jason. "Things are good. It has indeed been a long time since we talked the Andromeda spent a very long time in dry dock for repairs after our last meeting! Once again I want to thank you and your crew for your assistance." James ushered Elio to his seat and took his own at the head of the table, Lt Commander Talla sat on James's right side across the table from Commander Jason. "I guess you are wondering why I have called you here." James started taking a sip from his glass,"For the past week we have been shadowing a task force of Gammulan cruisers. Mixed ship class not a standard Gammulan assault squad more like a scientific mission but with some military backup. We tracked the squad from Gammulan space to the Midae region where we met up with you!" He paused for a moment as he put down his glass and leant in on the table. "Now I don't presume to know your mission here but I can presume that you and the Gammulans are after the same thing. For them to send such a task force this close to Galcom they must think it is important. So my question is fairly simple What is it the Gammulans are so interested in?"

The Marine guided commander Jason throught the corridors of the massive Nightstar carrier, past the fighter deck as two of the assigned fighters roared from the carrier bay to guard the shuttle assigned to assist the Lusitania the flight engineers ducking as the fighters roared out of the fighter bay. They continued towards the crew cabins. After several minutes travelling they arrived at the crew cabins and approached the metal door designated for the ship commander. The Marine pressed the door chime and after a few moments the door slid open and a very beautiful red haired woman stood at the door, dressed in Galcom dress uniform for the occassion. Her rank badges identified her as Lt commander. "Ah Commander Jason, I am Lt Commander Phae Talla first officer of the Andromeda it is a pleasure to meet you!" she smiled saluting him at the door. Still slight awed by the vision that greeted him Jason returned the salute and was ushered in the door. The marines who escorted him taking up a guarding position each side of the doorway. Entering further into the room Jason noticed the room was sparsely decorated, in fact the room was mostly bare appart from a picture sitting on the commander's desk which Jason could not identify from his location in the room. Smyth had not personalised this room at all it was the standard issue commanders quarters, which was somewhat refreshing to find. In the center of the room a small oblong, 4 seat table sat set out modestly with cutlery for the meal. The far side of the room with his back to Jason a man in dress uniform stood pouring a drink. As Elio approached the man turned with a smile on his face, he was a middle aged man, broad with Black hair and a well groomed moustache and goatie beard. "Ah commander Jason at last we finally meet! Drink?"

Sounds like the Primary/secondary IDE controllers may have been set to disabled within the bios or a incorrect hard disk type set/set to none for each of your IDE connections. That will stop the Non System disk or disk error at startup and the system will just sit there with a flashing cursor as it believes you have no hard disk. To fix go into you bios (depending on board type can be DELETE or F2 or F10 or F1 during memory test) On the general/basics page go into the configuration for your primary IDE controler disk 1 and check it is set to AUTO DETECT your hard disk. Alternatively go to the Advanced Section and ensure your Primary IDE controler is set to enabled. If that don't work I have other ideas but they are the best place to start!(probably )

Smyth stood on the bridge of the Andromeda as the message from the Invader can in. "Sir, Invader is returning to the Majoris system!" commander Talla reported reading the report,"And the Lusitania is limping towards Pluto for repairs!" "Signal the Lusitania," James commanded not turning from the bridgeviewer,"Ask if they require assistance in any way. If they accept send two fighters and a shuttle to tow them to Pluto." "Aye Sir," Phae responded and nodded to the communication officer who started to relay the query. "What is the status of our 'Ghost'?" Smyth Queried. "No change I'm afraid sir," was the response. "Why are you afraid?" James responded turning from the bridgeviewere to address his tactical officer. "Excuse me sir?" She replied "You said 'no change I'm afraid sir' did you not?" Smyth pushed his question, "So why are you afraid?" "Well I erm...." the tactical officer by Smyth's questioning. James shot the officer a warm smile,"I know it was a term of phrase!" he turned quickly on his heel to face the rest of the bridge, "BUT" he called, "I want none of you to be afraid to ever come to me with anything, even if you are unsure I will not criticise you for it, my door as they say is always open!" "Commander Talla, I am going to my ready room, send a message to the Invade and invite Commander Jason and guests, if he wishes to bring any, to dinner. Then get your dress uniform on and join me in my quarters!" "Aye Sir," Phae smiled in return.

If you have the manual, use it! They also get in big trouble with SC So very true and also one of the first mistakes I made on the forums. I used to be one of those gamers who doesn't read a manual and just plough in head long after reading the keybaord appendix, but SC changed me and now I am a better educated person. Indeed I have become quite the flight sim fanatic as I now force myself to sit down and read the manual.

Smyth sat quietly contemplating in the command chair on the massive bridge of the GCV Andromeda as its impossing shaped pulled to a halt some 100000 meters off the invaders starboard side. James watched as a shuttle launched from the invader and headed towards what had been identified as the GCV-Lusitania. James was starting to dislike this mission more and more with each new event. "Phae what do you make of the situation?" he questioned of his first officer standing beside him. "I can not be sure sir," she responded, "Debris out there is from a number of gammulan vessels but I severely doubt that one Galcom ship would have stood much of a chance against such a force of Gammulans." "Another question commander," James continued,"How do you account for the amount of debris, we have been tracking a maximum of about 6 ships but the wreckage out there would indicate alot more than that." "Sir!" the Andromeda's communication officer interupted the conversation. "Yes!" James smiled in return, he did not mind the interuption in fact he encourage his staff to approach him at any point if they had something to report. "Sir, I have been tracking a sensor ghost since we left the Majoris system, I think there is something out there!" "Very well, it seems we have a guest Lt commander. However they do not seem hostile, but lets not give them to much information. Kill active sensors - passive scan only. That should drop us from their scope anyway, unless they want to give away their position by switching to active scanners."

OK I think I got the facts right on this - correct me if I'm wrong. IC: GCV-Andromeda Hyperspace transit approaching Majoris system. The sweeping stars outside the viewport to his quarters dimly lit her features as he sat talking gently across the table. A glass of red wine swished gently in his hand as he lightly rolled the glass in his hand. The two occupants of the room were deeply involved in a light conversation - more general chit chat than any formal conversation. Both stared warmly at each other. Commander James Smyth and his medical officer Geraldine Meagher sat across the table from each other each one lightly grasping a glass half filled with red wine, they were talking gently to each other and the other listened intently their eyes engulfed in the other. The entry chime on the main door to the quarters chimed, and hit a sigh the man stood up from his seat and unwillingly approached the doorway and turned up the dimmed lights in his quarters before answering the door. The door hissed open and a young ensign stood nervously on the other side. The young man saluted to the commander who swiftly returned the salute. "Report!" Smyth Commanded "Sir, we are approaching the Majoris jump point!" "Good you are dismissed!" James repllied with a smile shutting the door. "Don't you think you were a bit harsh?" the woman queried standing up from the table. "Would you prefer I invite him in to eat with us?" Smyth responded. "Thats not what I mean and you know it!" the young woman walked over and gently kissed him on the cheek and opened the door to the room, "You know where to find me if you need me!" she smiled blowing a kiss to him as she walked out the room. A few moments latter Commander James Smyth strode confidently on to the bridge of the GCV- Andromeda. "Report!" he snapped taking a data pad from his second in command LT CMDR Phae Talla. "We are sitting 2 minutes out from the Majoris gate commander, we are cloaked and have just emerged from hyperspace. We have been able to track the Gammulan signals to here!" James sank into his large command chair as he studied the datapad in his hand, after a few moments he put it down on the arm of the chair. "Very well take us in. De - Cloak. Active sensors on full sweep!" The Andromeda slipped silently through the gateway and seconds latter emerged in the Majoris system. "Sir, I am picking up the Invader on scope. It looks like they are getting ready to leave the system. It appears she's been in combat fairly recently!" the combat officer reported upon return to normal space. "Very well" Smyth replied, " move us to intercept the invader - lets see where she is going and drop a probe in this region" The massive Nightstar maneuvered to follow the Invader out of the system. I agree it will probably be like the early days of the board - you got to remember Derek runs a tight ship and there are NO exceptions. I'm fairly sure if Derek is not part of the Server Admin team the people who are will have an equally tight brief so I am confident trouble makers will be weeded out and tossed out quickly and efficiently. Get out! Derek made these boards the safe heaven of intelligent( ) conversation that they are. A place were even people like me can have a conversation or a Discussion without fear of being flamed or being called stupid or something else to the same effect. So I have confidence that the BC online expierence will continue to protect and extend this community that he has created.

Online banking for checking account
Emmett.hendrick replied to Charles Lindsey's topic in General Chatter
I use online banking quite a bit in the past for my personal account. And now blazing on we are moving the company account to the same bank as our personal account so I can manage both online. I think its great as I have never met a bank person that agreed with me(most of them are ignorant insulting *********) so I love been able to handle all my finances online esp now I can pay wages and stuff online aswell. (especially as I spend a large portion of my day in front of a pc anyway!)
