  1. So...status report? We're all eager to know what's going down...
  2. I was nailed by the mysterious CTD while clicking Miscon...that problem has vanished. Didn't bother to mention it personally as several others had already...and I figured it was something on my system anyway Glad that you were able to track it down and squish it. Anyway, the game is running like a dream. Having some fun at Mars now, mining and dealing with repairing FC1 after helping to defend the station. Think I'll beam down and explore the planet a bit tonight while the Engineers slave...
  3. Now that, sir, is the bomb! You have just demonstrated why I need to convince my wife that I need another high endish system...sicne I also do not want to go without my Dark Age of Camelot fix. Of course, I'm so hot headed that I'm lucky to survive 30 minutes...so maybe this play style is not for me...
  4. Soback.... Sorry...didn't realize what you thought I did
  5. Steph, Well.... yeah... Since it was just a "test" game that I didn't even save, my guilt factor is rather low. I would never shoot my own boys in a "real" game. Well.... Perhaps if they really botched a prisoner capture. Hmmm...when I get home, I think I'll check to see if I can beam other crewmembers and officers down with me. (I know from reading the posts that Space Marines die. But do Flight Engineers?)
  6. How? Pretty easy. Using Tactical, I ordered myself and 4 marines to the Transporter room. I then ordered the ship to Halt (from CC orders) and turned on the auto pilot, since I was going on the field trip and didn't want anyone left behind to go joy riding. While the crew was travelling, I opened TacOps and zoomed in on a friendly base. I clicked the "Transporter" button and then the "Setpos" to set the beam-in coordinates. Checking Perscan, I waited until we were all in the Transportor room. I then switched back to TacOps and clicked (I believe) the "Deploy" button. The game switched to a third person view of the surface and the 5 of us beamed in, complete with nifty graphical effect. I switched views around, playing, and then drew some of my weapons and used my guys for target pratice. When done, I opened TacOps back up using Alt-S and zoomed to myself. When I clicked on myself, a little menu popped up and I put a checkmark in the "Extract" option (again, I don't have the game or manual in front of me, I think that's the option). I clicked on "Extract" on the buttom Transporter menu, saw myself dissolve and ended up back on the ship, automatically on the way to MedBay. (I guess to check for infection or something after planetfall.) Pretty nifty, eh?
  7. What a game. I first heard about the BC series a few years ago, with all that implies. The older versions were problematic...as much my mongrol systems as issues with the game. I bought myself a good video card, mucho RAM and BCM. It's a riot every time I play it. I was just playing with transporter ops a few minutes ago...beamed myself and a few marines to a friendly base. I then proceeded to frag my own guys (ok, I was helping to test RC6...really!) and beam myself home. I love the detail and immersion. So many games are so shallow, with the appearance of depth. If anything, BCM is opposite...you discover so much that you can do that it makes you fall back in your chair with a silly grin on your face. Nice job, Dr. Smart. --------------- Hmmmm....blasted thing didn't have my proper sig first time. Edited to try and fix... [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: richterm ]
  8. I got my copy....yesterday! Bought it from an Amazon auction, after downloading the free 1.07 version and the 2 demos (2.09 and BCM) Bit of a bumpy ride with General Protection Faults (even after all the patches) but following the advice in the Troubleshooting FAQ regarding the CONFIG.SYS found me playing rather late last night. As in, overslept for work. Grrr. As Mojo-Jojo would say "Curse you, SC!" Fun game, BTW. But most of you already know that.
  9. I've been poking around this site, the web ring and various other places. Even used the forum search features...hey I try to be a good community member! The only non-broken link that I've found to download missions other than the default ACM is on this offical site, the Mission Pack. I've seen at least once reference to Corsair's Cove on crosswinds, but that link is dead. It's a shame, because it seems to lead to an Insurgent campaign that might be fun to try. So...am I so blind that I've missed any off-site repository for player created missions? Please be gentle with your responses... Thanks, Marc [email protected] [ 06-07-2001: Message edited by: richterm ] [ 06-07-2001: Message edited by: richterm ]
