Last time I checked, The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest work of literature ever discovered. They uncovered it somewhere in the fertile crescent. BTW, In the Star Trek Episode "Darmok" Picard tells the first epic to an alien commander in an attempt to forge a cultural connection.

The procedure can even be used to destroy harmful chemical and biological agents for it breaks down the compounds at the molecular level. It is truly ingenious for it uses predominantly existing and proven technologies in its design

Last time war became an acceptable national policy there were two world wars. We must save civilians by killing them. Nothing good will come of this.

There was not enough funding or initative to construct a replacement. Planes get old, this one had a little more wear and tear than most experience. BTW They found a helmet... curses, I would have hoped the crew compartment would have remained intact to give the astronouts a glimer of hope. However, the intact compartment did not help the challenger crew much because they died on impact with the ocean. It was an aging spaceframe. The shuttles were not designed to last for this long. Even if they replace every component in the shuttle, the base structure remains to weather the test of time. Well, the first American astronouts to die in space. It was bound to happen but I never anticipated it so quickly. A tragedy to be sure however, I think NASA should move into the next phase of space flight (such as the venture star, canceled due to funding problems). These shuttles are getting old, we need to do something before more crews are lost to system failures.
