  1. quote:when I dock, is all of the cargo I might have picked up via floating cargo from wrecks picked up by shuttles, minerals mined by drones, etc. automatically available for trade? Thankfully not. It's so easy to get illegal-cargo violations if you mindlessly unload your shuttles after a cargosweep. (and more often in bc3k as it had debris fields) Picked up cargo is in your shuttle's hold, but minerals still in your drone if you haven't retrieved them from it. So the floating cargo is only automatically available if you dock the shuttle at the station and trade. [ 12-31-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  2. Yep, only tow assistance. But you can also get messages from other NPCs incase it is scripted in an ACM. You can get reinforcements if you have fleet command and a probe in the region of a friendly station. You'll have to select them yourself though. It's not a "I need help"-"Ok, we're comming." And they won't be there immediatly. Cavalry.... Now that's something new!
  3. quote:If you are near, pressing shift-F9 will make you enter the atmoshpere automatically and instantly. Darn, you're right! Missed that. p51
  4. Marine calling: quote:2 bcmk3 a mk2, a mk1, and every cruiser they had plus five vandals, and a generis transport supplies? ... Figures. [ 12-30-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  5. quote:Ah, so I place waypoints for my CC eh? Hmm, I wonder if it'll work if I warp to the planet without autopilot (which tends to take it's time getting to the planet). Not putting it on autopilot? *gasp* You must have alot of patience. If the trip to an object is below 1000 clicks, the AP doesn't hyper. Be smart and take a detour to a distant object first and then jump to your intended destination. It work wonders for my shuttles (mk1), but maybe not for your CC. It all depends on initial range to target, hyper transit&recharge time and max speed. Hope there's a tip for ya. quote:I look forward to seeing this game go MMORPG, although I imagine I'll need more bandwidth than my 56k modem to handle that kind of action, heh.56k is minimum requirement. so it's not impossible. quote:Ah, it's in the manual, is it? Learning how to play BattleCruiser is a bigger task than most games, and I'm actually glad of this since I like a deep game. However, I somehow missed that whole waypoint thing. Page 31 quote:Ah, so it's a engine AI restriction that the time compression was removed.Been that since some version halfway into bc3k v2.0x
  6. You can't get any other type of fighter/shuttle/othercraft than the appendix says you have. IE, can't replace a Shuttle mk1 for a shuttle mk2 in the event you need to buy a new one. Nor can you replace the first fighter/shuttle/OC slot with the (different) type that belongs to another slot. [ 12-30-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  7. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: So what you're saying is that if you dock at a station in order to do repairs while flying a shuttle, and you then click the cargo button, it will CTD? This is what I had in mind. The missing drone is an obscure fact. But it was the missing link. [ 12-29-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  8. I'm able to reliably reproduce Epsilon5's cargo manifest CTD issue on the 2nd page. I reproduced this in 1003 first, but 1004 RC1 is no exception. The trick is there's something missing in SC's recap of the procedure. The drone not being on the shuttle is the culprit somehow. The folowing steps are the exact procedure: Start default commander career (Terran/Mil/bcmk3/GalcomHQ), just enter name and accept. Log off and launch from station. Order AE to SC1. Remove drone 1 from SC1 Launch shuttle as AE arrives Fly to GalcomHQ and dock. Log on and see the logistix page appear. Press the cargo button and then HD thrashes for a moment with resulting a CTD or my system hangs. I am not sure if the repair page/button has anything to do with it. But maybe it affects the chance of being a CTD versus hang. As I had 3 consecutive CTDs first. Nevertheless, both bad endresults. A second shuttle cargo related thing: I noticed the VCF mentioning something about the 5th fixed issue of version 1003. It's the following right? quote:FIXED: Under certain circumstances, the cargo bay size in Logistix was not being accurately updated Well, if you leave the mining drone in the shuttle, and then dock to a station, you get this. It seems the CC's max cargobay size is mistaken for the shuttle. 7500. And also, there are two notches lit on the miningdrone indicator. While it should be empty. Don't know if it is directly involved or not, or even correctly interpreted. Just wanted to mention that. Lastly, not a bug or anything, but there is no way to tell on the shuttle's cockpit (or any system) which or even IF there is a drone onboard. (neither for OC) Could we get a remmedy for that. Perhaps like the number on the shuttle icon at the bottomright of the shuttle cockpit. This doesn't qualify for a wishlist item, does it? Like I have heard someone else say to you on the forum. Please hold off on an early full 1004 patch. I've got a few issues from 1003 that could be considered a bug. Quite a handfull actually. But I have yet to reproduce them in 1004RC1. Still, VCF doesn't mention anything related, so I'm very positive about their existance. Will keep you posted. [ 12-29-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  9. /walks in the wing room Whoaa!! Deja vu! Ahum, (adjusts humorous mindset) ... I noticed Simparadox has a personal quote in his sig. I'm afraid that's not Prime's policy. There's only to be one uniform wing quote. And which one that is for Gamma, I think, was still under discussion. (on the Prime forum IIRC) Unless Badgerius likes Ozzy Osborne, and I haven't been paying attention lately. (very well posible) Later fellas.
  10. If you read the Version control File at date: v1.0.02 RC9 - 12.07.01, you will see that the SC changed the time it takes for mining drones to completely fill up to 400 mins. (not upto) And since the drones ought to have a fixed carrying ability of minerals I deduce that it shouldn't matter on what planet or moon you are. Bc3k has that diversity. I guess it didn't make that much of a difference to gameplay. What kind of minerals you get is said to be at random. (was for bc3k anyway) But atleast 10 different kinds are the max. [EDIT] (looks down to Pugwashes thread) Strange! I'm probably missing something. [ 12-28-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  11. quote:Originally posted by Fendi: Congratulations echo...this makes it what 3 dads now from the forums recently? Hey Fendi, haven't you been listening during those chat sessions? Echo is a female commander. Unless her husband is a commander here too. Then I never said anything. Anyway, to Echo and the dads in the other threads, congratulations!
  12. I also thought it was time for a pre-"new year" roll call. Let yourself be heard at Primefleet ezboard forum, Delta Wing roll call
  13. This link is the same as the bottom (UBB) link you see left next to the text entry window when you write up a post.(The yellow HTML text is not a link BTW) [ 12-28-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  14. Ok, just wanted to be sure this didn't end up being an abandoned project.
  15. Hey guys, where is that director Mr. Mistery of yours with his amendments. I'd like to see what he has to say. Been a month or so since the charter was posted. Fendi, please yank him away from behind those curtains.
  16. What Emmett said about the radine/plutonium consuption. Sorry, I was in a bit of a hurry. Upgrades are te influence.
  17. quote:Also what minerals should I stock up on for repairs? How many units of Radine and Plutonium should I maintian? Repair minerals for sure. Should be obvious, I think. But beside radine and plutonium (and depending on carrier command iridium), normal minerals are only there for mining (and selling them). If you don't want to keep running back and forth between stations I'd say between 10k and 1M unites. But that depends on what kind of craft you are using. GCV means "Galactic Command Vessel". It's just a fleet/political designation. quote:Also how do I keep my probes in one sector and keep them from moving from one sector to another. They are not unless you tell them to jump. Look closely, they are flying the jumppoints, not jumping through them. They like to get different viewpoint on the matter.
  18. ok, has some merrit. But I think real-life leeches have to be in direct contact (near proximity) with you to do some damage, while crabs can/need to be at some distance to hurt you. And those claws are more like offensive weapons, like the turrets. But most important of all, whenever I launched a leech in bc3k they allways kicked me right up there in nullspace or to a space junkyard. God I hate(d) them.
  19. Ok, that 'being possessed by the Commander' thing. Nevermind.
  20. quote:When you are afraid that the crabs they sell at the store will blow up if you are too close. I think you need to play BCM some more. Crab has the turrets and the Leech is a proximity detonation.
  21. Hey, don't hijack this thread and smuggle it over to the misc forum. Ari asked about ISS and it's intensions. Not you nitwits! It should stay here. Even if it was a miss-direction by Fendi in the first place. It still was Ari's conscious decision to post here. quote:**Cough** Excuse me, while what you say is essentially true, you seem to have forgetten one little detail. Riga, myself and a couple of others are in the process of establishing Intercorp Unlimited a corporation catering all UCVs, assuming Tacops or the SC have the chance to read my email and profile.Hint, hint What detail? That's why I said political support. If you guys want to have support you need to ask very very very nicely , or find it amongst yourselves (indies). Which you also need to ask very very nicely. As independants are not obligated to help eachother out, unless under contract. Wake up from that dream fellas. Ok, now let's give the mike back to Ari again. And get this topic back on track. 22. Charles! What do you mean by "be any character"? the different carreers? CMDR/EFP/PSP/marine_versions_of_it ... Or the castes? Whatever it means, I think you have them swapped around.
  23. quote:I find it funner to just have instant cash like 10 million - 1 Billion then do what I want. Hey!, that's what my real-life bankaccount is screaming too. But life ain't working like that. And neither does the (ROAM/ACM) game. I'm afraid you'll have to take the unpleasant too. Tac's idea is pretty much your last resort. Unless you like to wait for your mining drones to fill up. And wrt trading, I managed to fill up my mk1 shuttle with every loose item I could find in my BCmk3. With 654 displacement units to spare IIRC. And then jumped into it's saddle on my way to Velari. I was there before I knew it. (Oh yeah, I traded MN items for AG at Wraith to get a better profit for them. Hope you can use them, Tac ) [ 12-26-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  24. An official 'miscellaneous fleet' does not exist, Fendi. You know that. And they need to be official to exist. It's either the terrans with (twinkling star)Prime(twinkling star), ISS, Orion, Wraith and Earthcom. The insurgents with their *censored*, *censored*, *censored* and *censored* fleets. And then there are those pathetic Gammies. Indies are indies, independant. Forsaken from any kind of political support. And a corporation is not a fleet. Don't give newbies the wrong impression, please.
  25. Here, a page from Intercorp's site with an introduction to the BC trade system. But it's actually based on what I wrote up here for bc3k. The original thread is in the tips&tricks section. (I think)Search for my id. (member # 255, but it's from way back) You will need this launchbase data from Pugwash' site together with the above introduction to predict your buy and sell price. But be advised that these numbers may change or are not accurate. The bc3k appendix carried/carries this info (atleast valid for that game only) but the BCM appendix never had it. (Time to ask the SC why not) But you can allways just boldly go and try and find the inflation value on the info page of the station/base. Terrans get their best profit (66% of investment ) by moving AD items from GalcomHQ to Velari/Polaris2. Gammulans/Valkeries have it even better. The best actually. (77% of investment ) AD from Cyron VI to Mantis I (or is it Mantisi?). [ 12-25-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
