Captains log: My ship the GCV Stargazer (A science vessle) was cataloging atmospheric anomolies recently discovered on Uranus. Suddenly, we noticed warping in from hyperspace, a small fleet of terran raiders. The stargazer is armed, however very lightly. There was no way I was going to outgun the raiders. With the lives of my crew at stake, I had two options to consider. I could try and plow through the raiders' blockade risking them following me or I could try and shake them by attemping a daring move to skim the atmosphere of Uranus, betting the raiders would be too cowardice to follow, but I'd be running the risk of being pulled into the giant planet. I chose the latter, and of course I was pulled into the planets gravity well and we had to establish planetfall. The Stargazer was getting rocked big time by the violent weather conditions of the planet's atmosphere. Everything on the ship was being either shorted out or destroyed. I tried two times, unsuccessfully to break free of the planets iron grip. Finally when I thought all was lost I gave the vtol system a final try. The system sputtered to life and gave me just enough power to break free of what would have been a violent death on an extremely hostile planet. When we reached space, my ship was in pieces, but she gave me just enough power to get back to Genesis Station orbiting the moon. I once heard that science was a boring field of study when compared to the life of a solgier. Whoever said that, can kiss my bunsen burner. Captain Frank Bishop out... Whoa!

I have experienced the same thing...I sometimes cannot find my marines or my mining drone in tacops if either are placed outside of a mission zone. It can sometimes be quite difficult to extract a drone with my shuttle going in realitively "blind." I'm glad I was not the only one experiencing this problem...Although I must say that I experience this in training missions as well as roam and campaign mode, not just training missions. I believe you will have to use the C key during certain campaign missions. I could be wrong, but I think I remember using it a while back playing BC3000AD. Would definately be awesome to contact other ships though! [ 11-24-2001: Message edited by: schoch1 ]

Ok, 2 clueless newbie questions: 1) Can you deploy Spcae Marines in Space? 2) I have a science vessle, the Star Gazer and I noticed that there was no Research officer on board. SC, can you make it possible to have a RO onboard? Wouldn't they be right at home on a science vessle? Thanks!

Ok, SC I am really having a hell of a time trying to place units via the shuttle. I can not land atv's using the "deploy vehicle" command for the waypoints. I can do it manually, like if my AE goes in the shuttle I can use the deploy vehicle command, but this gets time consuming when trying to deploy more than one ATV. I can teleport troops no problem, but like I said, I can't use the shuttle's deploy ability. Can you plese give me some tips as to what I may be doing wrong? Man, I think I'm doing everything correctly. I have crew inside the ATV, I assign waypoints for the ATV. I would think everything should work fine. I give the shuttle the order to deploy vehicle as one of it's way points, but the shuttle just does not want to deploy. I'd really appreciate it. Oh, one other question...Can you assign waypoints for marines. Like assign them to teams? I know you could in 3000AD, but I'm having difficulties doing it now (It's a different game, I know). Just patched, Does not work...

SC, I just downloadd the patch, and the file size is 2.33 instead of 2.38. Will that make a difference? MY OS is 98 Second edition
