  1. I'm in lower Manhattan and am jones-ing for it. The only friggin big computer outlet down here is J&R Computer World and they don't have it, so I'm going to have to trek to midtown. I must have this before the weekend. I can't recall anticipating something like this in a looooong while and am smacking myself for not pre-ordering.
  2. ....i'm drooling and i can't get up!.....
  3. Thanks Rosko. It's a massive story about the very first time we attempt greater-than-light space travel. Once I got through the early parts (theme, character development, plot, etc.), I hit the wall in detailing the alien race these brave souls mistakingly encountered. I'm working on a whole new approach to this subject. We'll see.
  4. Personally, I've bought the BC titles to get lost in "my" own universe. This game accomplishes that like no other. MP is not a factor for me at all. I Will buy BCM Gold and cannot wait for BCG. My wife hates this game beacuse it occupies so much of my time. But once she saw Mars for the first time coming out of hyperspace, she has become consumed by the manual and the appendices. Good grief that's all I need.
  5. I would like to find the time to finish my novel as well. It's a large sci-fi project that I've been working off and on for (gasp) 10 years. [ 01-02-2003, 04:43 PM: Message edited by: Dee-Man ]
  6. Thanks Charles - but the issue is now rendered completely moot. I have just bought a brand spanking new PNY Verto GeForce3 64MB Ti 200. This card is so hot the box is smokin'. Wanted the Ti 500 but they weren't in stock. I'm still at work and ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT TO GET HOME AND PLAY. Will keep you posted!
  7. Thank you so much for personally responding to my post. Imagine my surprise!! Much to the chagrin of my wife and daughter I spent a large amount of time today (Xmas no less) re-configuring my entire machine, including a comlete o/s reinstall. Finally got BCM to install!! I am happy even though it is after 3:00 a.m!! Who cares about an 8:30 staff meeting I have to chair!! To make a long story very short, it appears as though my problems were associated with Zip-Magic 2000 and the way it was configured, even when disabled!. Imagine that. Noting the issues with 3DFX I am going to promptly go out tomorrow (today) and buy a GE Force 3 Card. Or maybe the Elsa Gladiac. Thanks SC for the motivation to get this done!
  8. OK - I've got an issue "right out of the box" if you will. I've scanned all the tech forums and have not run accross this. After installing the game, I try to launch it and the following happens: (1) Safe Disc screen appears. (2) I get the 3000ad Logo. (3)The following Fatal Error message appears: "Failed to open objclass.dat". (4) I press OK to close and I'm back at the desktop. Ar first I thought it was my NEC 16xDVD/22xCDROM causing a conflict with Safe Disc, so I put back in my old(?) 40X Sony CDROM. I completely deleted the program, reinstalled, and got the same error message. Also tried installing the 1.003 patch which produced the following error message: "Verify of new file failed. Possible internal error." I pre-ordered this game on-line in October and have a vaild code, but at no time was I asked for it. System specs: Gigabyte P3 866 VIA chipset with updated 4 in 1. Win 98 2nd Ed 512mb PC 133 SDRAM Voodo 3 AGP with Latest Drivers SB AWE 64 Any ideas. Thanks in advance.
  9. Thank-you SC for the best sim I have ever played. I do more reading than anything else in these forums but wanted to put my 2 cents in.
