  1. Thankyou for your replys, I suspect not then - ala - the VCF. So I suppose I'll just nuke them all then. Question: I notice that the destroyed buildings all turn CVD blue - does this mean that the starbases and buildings will be re-built as Galcom allied buildings and base or neutral? Or will they go back to red Insurgents - type? I'm now wondering what the point is in launching an all out planetary assult if there is no way the ground territory can be brought under Neutral or Galcom control. This would be to minimize planet based enemy attacks on the newly captured starstation. Or, just because it makes me very nervous to think of them sitting down there eye-ing the new Galcom Sygan Starstation in the night sky. I mean anything could happen - those Insurgents are known for it. Ausraider2
  2. Ehh...sorry, I'd just like to get confirmation on that issue... Are Starbases(planetbases) capturable ala Spacestaions? Ie - fire down the shield and the armour until an SOS dockable is emmited? (maybe I should post this as a seperate thread?) Thanks Ausraider2
  3. Hi, I've been playing the Sygan mission where the spies are sneeaked past to Toron 1. After I captured Sygan Starstation I figured it would be a good idea to take the planetbase aswell. So I set up the operation. Located the planetbase(starbase) on the surface in tacops. Zoomed in to the appropiate compound. 1st, I nuked the adjoining compounds which contained launch pads etc. Half-nuked the Sygan Starbase compound to get rid of the launch pads. brought in the BC to PTA the ground units from above the clouds and IOD-ed the other buildings until only the Sygan Starbase was left. Took the BC back into orbit and sent down an interceptor to laser-down the Sygan starbase shield/armour etc from overhead - expecting that at a certain point the base would start emmiting an SOS so I could capture the base. But alas, they weren't for giving in. I'd gotten the base name to turn grey on the CVD (still no SOS) and tried docking the interceptor then, but no luck. Is this par for the course so to speak with planetbases...ie un-capturable? Thanks Ausraider2
  4. Thanks for the reply Commander, I tried again taking out: INS/Power unit;Ins/Generator, these went ok - but no avail on the Radar nor the SAMs - even a full load on Interceptor Hyperdines. I usually Target directly above the base about 80,000 ft up, (25.0+) on the Tac. Thanks anyway. Ausraider2
  5. Hi, Just a few questions on Planet Fall Ops. I've been setting up a raid on the insurgent base in Argentina - They attacked the BC while I was attempting a docking at Gazer after filling my shuttles to the hilt from the drones. I was nearly out of Radine so I was p*ssed at them big-time-majoris and had dummy-runned a few Tanixs but like - you can't nuke your own home planet can you? Anyhow. I want to know how things work. I tried adding likely ingress targets to the piority list - eg INS/EWR - INS/RADAR - INS/COMMS. Then ploted SAD way points around the base whilst giving orders to the interceptors from the priority list - I had them loaded up on hyperdines. This didn't work to well as they were usually spotted in the atmosphere. SO I set ingress points about 30 clicks out - radar to passive - switched to the interceptor got some elevation and slowly moved in to about 25 clicks without detection. Targeted 1st INS/EWR - then INS/RADAR - COMMs - Launch Pad etc. or variations in the order of these, my hope being that I wouldn't be intercepted or spotted closer in. It was here that I began to notice a funny thing. Sometimes the Hyperdines would have absolutely no effect (the're 150 blast points y'know). or they'd drop the buildings armour to zero and then no matter how many Hyperdines or ever else I fired at it - it wouldn't go away. Question 1. - Does taking out these buildings have any effect on the ability of the insurgents base to respond - eg the degree of response, and also would the neutralizing of the insurgents Launchpads prevent the launch of any insurgent Interceptors? Question 2. Whats the story on these missles that won't bang or these buildings that appear to be protected by mysterious forces (grin)? Thanks Ausraider2
  6. Thanks Rico for clearing that up for me. I got 'er all .fixed up and the /d deleted from the bc3000ad /g /v1 /d1 line in the Bc3k3dfx.bat file. Ausraider2.
  7. Thanks for the reply SC, I tried a few things like setting 8 waypoints for a few vehicals on Earth - INT/SH/ATV - for a Ter/Ins raid, Then a few waypoints for the BC's AP/AI to Orbit Earth. I jumped to Alpha-Centauri presuming the waypoints would automatically delete (not sure on that one) but they didn't anyway. I tried a Shift+X delete on the bridge to no avail - I presume thats only for planetfall. So I just deleted the BC's waypoints in Tacops. Jumped back to Earth and re-checked the Tacops BC add waypoint function which was working fine. I notice that sometimes waypoints don't delete on the Tacops panel - but can be reset. Anyway - I'll just restart the ACM as I'm not that far into it - doing regular saves and keeping an eye on the Tacops Panel Systems. BTW I got my 1st taste of Planetfall battle in that raid, I certainly wasn't expecting a response like THAT!!! to a few marines and an ATV - LOL. Needless to say it had the expected newbee outcome. Thanks Ausraider.
  8. Sorry, quick question. Is the ENM to be retrieved in the same mission as the HSD ie MOLONOK in Obsedia? In mission 1 ACM it only mentions the HSD. I presume the Salamander-ENM is later on. Just want to be sure I didn't miss it somehow. Thanks Auseraider2.
  9. I discovered that I could set waypoints in space for the BC to orbit a planet - say 5 or 6 waypoints - with the 6th set to Repeat Actions and get an orbit going - AP/AI mode must be engaged. It beats shutting down the BC engine so that you don't have to worry about what its doing or any threats while switched to a Shuttle etc during planetfall operations and also because your not left like a sitting duck. I discovered this in Freeflight mode while trying a few other things - then I'd switch back to the ACM. However, I'm currently on mission 5 - the Stolen shuttle - Pixan one - and when I go into Tacops mode I cannot set waypoints for the BC in space. The 'add' button is dark red for the BC. The shuttles etc are all fine though. The ships systems are all ok - avg 95% And all officers are on duty. I then started a new ACM - checked in the Tacops and the BC add waypoints was working fine. So my question is; Is this just one of those things that happens occasionally - ie a 'PC natural' glitch or have I missed something? I don't fancy proceeding further into the ACM without knowing about this. Ie, I'd rather restart now than later.(grin) Thanks Ausraider2.
  10. WOAHHH!!!! The Glorious Starbase interface appears!!! Is it worth it! Its better looking than the Starstations I think - kewl lights from the docked ship etc. Papi, Sir, I must confess I was beginning to smoulder a bit at the above (hehe) as the 1st thing I did was a site scan for 'starbase','docking','planet fall' etc. whilst flying around compounds for almost 48hrs. But who cares now I've found it!!!! The problem was that I couldn't no matter where I was in relation to the 22compound - even right in front of the blasted thing - could I get Tascan to lock on to the TER/MIL EARTH building. It cycled thru all the others but for some reason or other ignored the starbase structure. My solution was to scan the compound from Tacops in the BC, Zoom in ,as I described above earlier, until the buildings in the compound were visible. Direct Zoom to the TER/MIL EARTH building - then add it to the priority list. Switch back to the shuttle. Cycle thru until TER/MIL EARTH now appeared in the CVD. ALT+D and presto. For Newbees like me here are 3 things to know. 1. There is a diffinite building that MUST be tracked in the CVD named something like TER/MIL EARTH - (which is the exact title of the earth base in the CVD - as Papi described in an earlier post). It MUST have the planet name included in the CVD title eg EARTH - there are alot of other undockables TER/MIL BUNKER; TER/MIL C&C etc. 2.Its different looking from the rest - eg on earth its a funny looking thing; a distinct green colour with what looks like wings coming out the sides - its not in any other of the compounds - flashing or otherwise. 3.Most importantly, Tascan mode switch key. This is actually how you find it regardless of Tacops etc. EG: Shuttle - Tascan must be in Topographical map mode in order to lock-on to the starbase so press the 'J' key until the groundmap is displayed and simply cycle thru until TER/MIL EARTH is displayed in the CVD. Anyways, glad I eventually found it (hehe) now on with the rest of the ACM. Thanks Ausraider2. [ 11-17-2001: Message edited by: ausraider2 ]
  11. Ach, Sorry to disappoint Tryn, but I downloaded the PZone Acrobat file (not included in the BC3K2.09FREE.EXE download) and following your suggestion tagged a waypoint to those exact co-ordinates on earth, zoomed in pretty close (freeflight mode), checked the nearest buildings to no avail,(Invalid Docking Target),including C&C buildings. There were alot of Ocean-Going craft in the vacinity which I also tried, in fact the waypoint was - from shuttle position - actually on the water right over a sea-carrier. As there are a lot of trackable objects in the immediate theatre I confess I might have missed something. Would someone please post what exactly should be in CVD and what to do etc. Thanks Ausraider2.
  12. Jayzis, I'll try that now. But co-ordinates and.... I hope so.(grin) Thanks V.much for your reply TYRN. Ausraider2
  13. I've been flying around for hours checking out the different compounds - I don't even know what I'm looking for. How should it show up on the Tascan. Confused - Please help. Ausraider2
  14. Thanks Gallion. Ausraider2
  15. Thanks Papi. I'm sorry to bother you all with this again but I'm having real problems docking with a planet base. I can't figure out what it is I'm not doing so I'll outlay my Planetfall Proceedures for you. I'm in Freeflight mode for this example. 1. Bring up the Tacops menu and zoom to Earth. 2. Click into Observe mode to bring up the Tacops Earth Map. 3. Locate the flashing red dot indicating - Missionzone 10 (ZSBASE 1). 4. I click to zoom in and up comes a more detailed map with a number of compounds indicated. Some flashing, some not. 5. I zoom in on compound 22 as someone mentioned this earlier as being the location of the Earth ZSBASE. NB: I've noticed that this doesn't always bring up the buildings, but if I leftclick down a few times just to the left of the 22Rectangle instead of a direct zoom in, it usually brings them up. Also, sometimes the Compound numbers seem to change and the map looks a bit different, but if I zoom back out to the flashing reddot and zoom back in again, it resets. 6.Up come the various buildings, Solar Plant, Launch Pad, C&C, etc...with a Sea Carrier sitting in the Lough off to the left. 7.I bring up the Tacops interface and add a waypoint for shuttle 1 to an area in the compound near the buildings, but on the concrete so to speak. 8.Set the waypoint to 'wait for instructions.' 9 Launch shuttle 1. Planetfall OPs. 1. Switch to the shuttle quick when its range to WP 1 is around 0.5*** or so and trigger the very kewl landing mode with Shift+E. I'm right there in the compound looking at the various buildings and using the Shuttle Tascan (blue circular display on the left switched to ground mode using the 'K' key) and CVD on the right to track the various buildings. There are a lot of them, but I opt for the C&C building getting to within about 0.2*** and try CTRL+D. Needless to say I get 'Invalid Docking Target' - I've also tried various other likely buildings to no avail. I sort of figured this wasn't it. I've tried switching the SH-Tascan to 'sul' mode using the K-key to look for any clues but no luck. Please Help. Thanks Ausraider2.
