The time frame was just a suggestion, When someone says "Let the Voting Begin", I'll be ready
-
Okay, At this point all we need to do is finalize some closure dates. There are 2 confirmed indivduals who have been nominated and accepted the nomination (Gudihl & Blades). We can either wait for more or fly with these two. Since Derek requested sorting this out in a week, I suggest closing the nominations tomorrow (10/6 - Midnight), at which time we can open the voting and be finished by Saturday 10/9 Midnight. The new Orion Fleet Leader would be announced on Sunday 10/10. As for the verifier, Rattler posted first, so if he declines, William will fill the position. Any other thoughts or suggestions? ------------------ Cmdr Mark Giao GCV-Jackal Official BC3K Tester

Commanders, I'll offer an alternative to an open forum vote. I'd be happy to host a closed ballot vote, with the assistance of another veteran member as an impartial verifier. Once the nominees are confirmed, the actual vote could be handled confidentially through Email. All ballot Email addresses would have to match the profile address (IE registered voter). At the end of X days, the ballots would be tallied and the results sent to Derek who will announce the new Orion Fleet Leader. Just a suggestion, that may open the voting door to those Commanders that are less vocal. ------------------ Cmdr Mark Giao GCV-Jackal Official BC3K Tester [This message has been edited by SpcFX (edited 10-04-1999).]

Here are some statements to date, hopefully will help clear the air - The sig issue started when an individual did not want to join any of the available fleets. Derek gave him the option of using the UCV designation with a choice of TERRAN/Caste - I assume Terran was the only choice because it is all that is available with BC3K 2.x. quote:At any rate, in light of these developments, you are now stripped of your GALCOM designation. Please remove the GCV tag from your sig. Since we don't know where you are, I guess you can keep the ship but you are neither GCV nor ECV or even ICV designation. You should use the UCV (Unregistered Command Vessel) tag from now on. That is my ruling. So, next time you post, you should be using UCV-DARK RIFT (Raider) in your sig. You can change the caste to anything you like (other than GALCOM, Earthcom, Military, Insurgent, Diplomat, Police) I only used Raider as an example. There is a new Mercenary caste in BC:3020AD anyway, so, you can use that now if you like. Yes, I just made that whole UCV thing up as I was typing it and have updated the BC:3020AD manuscript accordingly. Anyone not belonging to a fleet, can use this and select any caste they like. You will be able to do the same thing in multiplayer anyway. Supreme Commander D. Smart Since todate, The MP options have not (to my knowledge) been ironed out (the race/caste list at least), it is kinda jumping the gun to talk about them since Derek will make the final decision on what subject anyways. Thomas, FYI - The MP will have "official servers". A players rank/score will be tracked and thus, any BC ONLINE user in this forum should not be allowed to jump from race to race or caste to caste or an intermix of Race/Caste. If this was applies to the RP forum, much of the confusion would also disappear. I suggest some uniformity between the two. But since I'm not a story writer (just like reading them), my opinion doesn't carry much weight. There should be some regulating body amonst the entire group. Even the Mercs have a Station, so there must be some governing body to maintain it? We already have a good working set of rules inplace. And they do not appear intense enough to drive people away, why not stick with what works. quote:Multiplayer is coming and like the game itself, is going to be a remarkable experience. Its going to take everything you know about the game and the alliances you make on and offline, to be an elite. In fact, though time prevented me from doing the SDF campaign, I will be using the multiplayer universe to handle ranks and ratings, in short, our own dynamic roster which the server has the ability to track and update the main page here on the site. So, everyone will get a chance to be somebody in the universe, be it a commander of an elite team or a renegade raider in the outer rim. It won't do you much good if you can't access the official server to play because if you are banned from the site, you won't be able to log on any official server either, you will have to create your own and play with your friends. If you then decide to create your own rank structure, I won't care because you are not on any of my official servers. ------------------ Cmdr Mark Giao GVC-Jackal Official BC3K Tester [This message has been edited by SpcFX (edited 08-17-99).]

Chris, I disagree, If everyone was allowed to do whatever they wanted here, This site would be a mess. This site is not about BC3020, it is about the complete Battlecruiser experience (past, present and future titles). The game and the site are 2 entirely different items, The simulation is great without the site and vice versa. Mr. Wallins is a moderator at this site, his job is to maintain some type of order here, I would heed to his suggestions. Enjoy what you have here. When 3020 becomes available, I'm sure new possiblities will present themselves. Until then play by the rules. ------------------ Cmdr Mark Giao GVC-Jackal Official BC3K Tester [This message has been edited by SpcFX (edited 08-11-99).]

The country is free, this site is paid for by Derek, thus he can create whatever rules he desires on his site. If you do not enjoy playing by the rules set forth, you can design your own game, your own site and post whatever you like under your rules.

SpacePhish, FYI - You can remove all the "This message has been edited by" comments during each additional edit, leaving only one. Scroll to the bottom of your post during the edit, and delete the message at the bottom. Just a little trick that's been past on to me. ------------------ Cmdr Mark Giao GVC-Jackal Official BC3K Tester

Gents, It appears we need some terminology set forth. A squadron is a division of a larger group under one Commander. Your interceptors aboard your Battlecruiser is a Squadron. Tac's use of squadrons within his fleet is also used correctly. But to just start a squadron from a group of several vessels is skirting the fleet structure. I see that the orginal post has changed, thus making this thread hard to navigate and invalidating some of the later posts. Cmdr Mark Giao GVC-Jackal Official BC3K Tester

Smart However, I don't think Mech will get many taker since the "dollar" went out of circulation centuries ago and in 3000ad the amount he listed is only worth about 1 GalCredit [This message has been edited by SpcFX (edited 08-05-99).]

Experiment: a new RPG like "The Apocalipse"
SpcFX replied to twobombs's topic in Role Playing Discussions
Here's some Intel on stations that put out the welcome mat for the ole Insurgents. Red - Plenty to select from, but don't bother knocking. Blue - Slim pickings, will let almost anyone in. Green - Very slim pickings - kick your boots off and stay awhile http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Omega/2676/insgam.htm -
Hope I don't fall under the axe, but here is my suggestion. We currently have a good scripting base of forum followers. How about one of the story writers create a theme, which could be scripted into a campaign. Instead of having promotions, make the mission awards be medals currently available in the sim, or introduce campaign ribbons. This ribbions, medals or pins could be introduced as UBB incons and attached to your signature in this forum upon successful completion of the TOD(s). If made small enough (such as the smiley face icon) they would not drastically increase the forums load time and it would give fleet members an oppurtunity to actually do something with the fleet they join. The stories could be fleet based, but should be open to all who desire to play them. Any comments are welcome. Mark
